Based upon a friend's recommendation I tried out Betty's Organics produce/fruit delivery service. Three weeks/deliveries into my membership and I am very happy. Great looking, tasty produce brought to my office every week. I get the "More Veg" selection for $27.00 per week. Previously, I would get my fruits and vegetables from the Mill Valley Whole Foods or the Sunday Marin Farmers' Market. I have recognized some of the growers names in the Betty's Organics boxes from those venues. This is a great way to introduce items you may not usually buy into your diet and keep you on track with fresh greens. read more

I bought the Groupon and almost forgot to order my box of produce. Nearing its expiration I went online, filled out the form and they emailed me back very fast saying they could come in two days! I was excited to see all the great Yelp reviews and even more happy to get my box delivered to the house without hassle or worry about what I was going to eat that night. I was impressed with the quality of local veggies in the Veg Lover's Box that I ordered *see photo I added to images*; there were three tomatoes, two medium sized broccoli, 5 or 6 golden potatoes, 1 bunch of green leaf lettuce, 1 bunch of collard greens and asparagus. There were however, was no cauliflower or zucchini, which was listen on the site that week for the ingredients of the box. I do realize that I ordered the smaller size, and I do realize that they did in fact DELIVER the box, but I overall-- wasn't that impressed with the quantity of veggies given. I can walk less than a few blocks down to Golden Produce, spend the same amount of money, and buy nearly three times the veggies. I know these are for sure organic, and in support of local farmers-- but I just don't see the value in paying $14 (without the Groupon even MORE), for something that would cost me $9 down the street, and $4 in Chinatown. If I become desperate, I may try them again. I would perhaps do the 1/2 fruit and 1/2 veggie, which seem to be the most popular. But, for now I think I will stick to my routine of just swinging by the store and grabbing ingredients for dinner on the way home. read more

I was excited when Betty's Organics put themselves on groupon! I had been wanting to try them for a while and for $14 I was able to buy a box worth $28. Ordering online isn't very easy. I made my selections online, then they e-mailed me a few days later asking me to respond with my selection again. In five days I got the "More fruit box" delivered to my door. There definitely wasn't that much fruit in the box... strawberries, 3 bananas, a cantaloupe, 4 red plums, 3 peaches, and 3 oranges. There was also a bunch of carrots, lettuce, and radishes. Honestly, I know it's organic but I was surprised that was $28 of produce. I will not be ordering with them again but I am glad I did it since I got a discount! This would be a great for people who don't have time to shop, and don't mind paying extra money for convenience. read more

I ordered a box for my family for the holidays. At first Jake was very responsive. But after the box didn't arrive and I emailed him to ask him what had happened, he said he would check and then never got back to me. I have emailed 4 times and left several messages. I am really bummed. I wanted to support a local business. I received a follow up email from Jake and apparently there was a family emergency that prevented him from returning my calls and emails. He is fixing the matter and give me an upgrade. I am much relieved! read more

I tried Betty's Organics when they showed up on Groupon. I have been getting fresh produce delivered weekly ever since. It's been a few months and i'm over joyed with the quality and the ease of getting substitutes. I order the 1/2 fruit/ 1/2 vege and sometimes substitute. So far no issues or problems. I agree with the previous poster. The customer service from Jack was outstanding however the quality/quantity was just not there. I ordered for four weeks and just got disappointed more and more each week. I still have avocados that are hard as a rock from two and a half weeks ago. I only received a handful of tomatoes once. I did order the largest family size and cannot imagine that box lasting very long with three people. I think they are experiencing growing pains. I'm giving 2 stars based on CS more than quality. The veggies looked like I went down to the store and bought them myself but put them in a box. Didn't feel very "CSA" to me. Where could they locally get bananas? Then when we try and contact them by phone they never answer and don't return calls. Hmmm... I'm switching back to the company we used before, we've toured their farm and know how they work. It's truly local stuff. read more

I had a little mishap upon initial order with Betty's Organics (Groupon madness) but they were quick to correct the issue and we have been happy campers ever since! The fortnight deliveries are perfect for me and my guy, seems like just as we're running through the last bits we get a new delivery. I received my first (and last) order last Thursday. I chose Betty's based on the yelp reviews but this is the first time yelpers experience differed from mine. I did give 2 stars instead of 1 due to the nice customer service. I wish my fruits and veggies could have been as nice! I understand the idea of delivery and organics costing more but was REALLY disappointed in both quantity and quality. I have several friends who have deliveries who receive much better of both, unfortunately none of the 3 deliver here. I will continue my search and suggest you SERIOUSLY look around before even considering these folks. read more

The customer service is very good, having produce delivered to my door is fantastic, and I find the prices reasonable. What I don't find reasonable, in fact appalling is the horrible quality of the produce. Hot house grown tomatoes? In August? From Mexico? Green Bananas? Unripe peaches and pears with stickers on them? (they told me it was the law to certify the produce is organic--bs) The quality is the same as a Safeway supermarket and the produce comes from giant corporate farms. Some of these farms grow both organic and pesticide laden produce. Wal-mart is the largest retailer of organic produce in the US--looks like Betty's is competing for second place. Yuck. read more

So nice to go home and have fresh veggies and fruit waiting for you on your doorstep. Not only is the produce great but it is also so convenient. After a long commute home from the City usually none of the better markets are open (they close by 9pm) which leave me to look through the meager and usually bruised organic section at Safeway. I have a 'dirty little secret' - literally! I run a Permaculture Farmstay in West Novato's Indian Valley area, and I grow a robust garden of edibles for my guests to accompany the fresh eggs I put in their fridges, but I actually belong to a local CSA! I look forward every other week to a box of goodies delivered by Betty's Organics. Yes, it's true. I started with Betty's 3 years ago when the Novato Farmers Market ended its run at the end of September 2014 and my garden was still going, but not quite as abundantly as I'd like after a few heat waves had defeated even our most attentive of rehydrating with drip irrigation. I decided to respond to a promotion from Betty's Organics to get me through the winter. After 2 years of drought conditions in California, I didn't stop the deliveries because everything I grew was important to offer my guests. For my personal consumption, I had grown to anticipate not only my bi-weekly Betty's delivery, but also the recipes included with each box featuring whatever was inside. Last week a friend/neighbor was over for a glass of wine when Betty's box was brought in by my groundskeeper. She had seen the invoice previously and had stated she thought I was paying too much - and that she passed a farm stand going up Old Petaluma Hill Road to see her horses every day - and that she would bring me that same amount of produce to prove it. Well, she never did. So this time, we unpacked the box together. It contained things that I don't currently find in any supermarket in January, and things that looked MUCH better than those same things carried in the regular stores. For example, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, pears, and red lettuce. I know that people probably don't 'crave' lettuce, but I have been on a red-lettuce kick for 6 months now, and when I pulled out the head of red lettuce from the box (which looked like a romaine-style but deep burgundy in color), we both just stared at it - having never seen something that incredible before... Anyway, after I had unpacked the whole box and put it on the tiered basket thing I keep in my kitchen to ripen stuff before either using it or putting it in the fridge, I asked her what she thought the value of that box was, including the artichoke (2), broccoli (3), chard (huge stalk), pears (4), potatoes (4), bananas (bunch of 6), oranges (4), apples (4), red lettuce, red onions (4), big lemons (3) and a fat eggplant. She said, "Well, around $37.50, I'd guess." I laughed at her. "That's just about what I pay for my box! And I have never seen such a gorgeous head of red lettuce, nor can I find stuff half this good looking in any 'one' market right now (if it's a local product) - and here's the recipe they've included, PLUS it was delivered!!" Ha! She admitted I was totally right! So just mention Green Gage Farm if this inspires you to order from Betty's Organics - I think I get a free box if you do. You won't be sorry! I wish I could give Betty's Organics 10 stars....in fact, I do give them 10 stars out of 5. I've been a customer of Betty's Organics for nearly one year. From the beginning, Jake has been very helpful, professional and courteous; he always make me feel that I'm his only, most important customer. In addition to supporting a local business, the produce is consistently beautiful, delicious, and plentiful. Betty's Organics produce is always so much nicer than anything at Whole Foods, I don't even have to shop there anymore. Being someone who loves to experiment in the kitchen and new to juicing, I wanted to start my 2014 off to a good healthy start and signed up for Betty's Organics. Almost a month in and so far I am LOVING the produce! I am pretty picky about what I put on my table and used to spend a ridiculous amount of money at Whole Foods (aka..whole paycheck!) trying out different veggies (I always over-buy and half of it ends up spoiling). I love that I get a nice mix of BEAUTIFUL fruits and veggies that works with my budget and the size of the box is perfect for my household. Get the Groupon deal, so worth it. We have used Betty's Organics for a few years now and we are very happy with the produce and the service. Not always perfect, yet as good or better than what is available in stores. Since we have a small kitchen garden ourselves, it is wonderful to be able to modify the contents of the box each week - so we do not double up on what we already have. The service has been regular, reliable and friendly and minor issues sorted out quickly. So great to receive fresh veggies on our doorstep and the price is quite reasonable too ! read more

We were a little disappointed with the produce we received for our living social coupon. Much of it wasn't ripe. For example, the avocado was hard as a rock, which is really disappointing in California. One of the big benefits from my perspective of farm to table is that they avoid the long shipments that can incentivize famers to pick the fruit while it's still very green. Very disappointed in especially, the customer service! I purchased "mostly vegetable" box on a 50% off deal. Thought I'd try it. Came home and found a great box of vegie's and fruit. The first thing I did notice was a box of Driscoll Strawberries, which certainly dissatisfied me. I can drive 2 miles from my home and purchase berries that have been picked the same day from the field, right in front of me. I received my order on 4/26. It's now 5/12...out of 4 pears, 2 I've thrown away and 1 is just ripening and the other is still hard. That's just ridiculous! The lettuce, onions, broccolini & zucchini were all delicious. I just won't do business with an organization where the person doesn't call back..they obviously don't need customers. read more

I, too, was excited about the Groupon to Betty's Organics, and I'm glad I paid a discount for the service I have received. Which is basically, no service. I placed my order online and on May 11 I received the following email: "Thanks for your recent order with Betty's Organics. A representative will be in contact to confirm your first delivery day shortly." Nobody contacted me and 11 days later, I found a box of veggies on my doorstep with no advanced notice of its arrival. I have been trying to contact the company for days now, with no response. There's not even a place on the website to cancel any future orders, so now I'm just waiting for another box of produce to randomly show up. :( read more

Nice veg. But agree with others that fruit is picked too early and tasteless when ripe. Apples are prime now and mine are super green and underripe. Was also surprised to see stickers on all the fruit. Perhaps they ran out of stuff and too a trip to Safeway to fill the box??!! Odd. read more

I have been having fruits and veggies delivered since I tried bettys organics with iving social. I was very pleased with the qaulity, and I look forward to my box evry week. I have the family box. I love the fact that whats in the box is a surprice to me ( I do not look on the website) because it makes me try new fruits and veggies that I might nt have bought. I also got a beet salad recepie in this weeks box that I cant wait to try. Again, I am really pleasd with the freshness and it is very nice to get fresh organic fruits and veggies delivered at the end of the week when I am tired and dont want to shop. I read that someone else complained that some of the veggies and fruits were hard, I am glad they are not too ripe. they would go bad too fast and I like to enjoy my produce throughout the week. read more

Wow. I have attempted to start service with this company several times now, over the last couple of years. I have called them over 15 times and no one had once answered the phone. I have left messages and no one has once returned my call or responded to my messages. I have gone on line to try and the service was never started and I never got a return email or phone call from that situation!!! This is extremely bizarre! It's nice to have fresh organic veggies delivered to the house. I usually don't know what to get at whole foods or wherever and this exposes me to different varieties that I normally wouldn't opt for. It makes me learn how to cook different things and I appreciate that. The fruits and vegetables have always arrived fresh and without any gross stuff. It is a relatively inexpensive way to eat healthy and I just like getting it weekly. read more

I orger More Veg box twice a month, and later on the second week, I go to Whole Foods or the farmer's market to try to find the same or similar quality veges/fruits as theirs, but it's more difficult to find them than I thought. read more
