Customer service was not the best. I was in a good mood and said hi to the cashier and he didn't say anything and then I said thank you when leaving and again he didn't say anythin and looked me straight in the face. I then turned to the "courtesy"clerk who bagged my groceries and said thank you and he didn't say anything either. Not the best feeling. Maybe some training on customer service is needed??! I guess everyone is allowed a bad day and maybe it was near closing and they were tired but they should at least try to make you feel a little welcomed there. I have had good experiences there before maybe it was an off night. Better luck to the rest of the patrons. read more

The employees are very nice and they have worked there for a long time. The butchers are great. They will always cut a piece of meat if you want it. It has great quality, vegetables, and meat. read more

Sushi people , 2, are professional and outstanding. Amazingly fresh and outstanding. Usually sells out. Meat Dept. top notch and comparable to Nugget Market. Pork shoulder I use to cook chile verde best in town. Luna is Amazing in Deli and MarI, Julie and Sophia are Polite and greet. The rest of staff in deli is aloof and one sided. * warning read deli packaged item some are past five days. Especially chicken. I called corporate about it and he explained everything should be fresh but chicken has more than five date pull on it. Tom in the morning is a pro. Coffee is good but price went up. Produce Craig, Will, and the others are polite respectful and have the green grocer thumb. Overall a great store but watch out for freshness in deli. I've gone into Harvest Market a few times to stroll around. I noticed their prices on grocery items were pretty high and pretty similar to Whole Foods. I opted to go to the deli section to check on their hot foods, sandwiches and cold salads. This review is solely on the sandwiches at the deli counter* I've been told that Harvest Market had sandwiches with dutch crunch bread so I knew I had to eventually try it myself. I built my own sandwich at the counter (House Roasted Turkey on Dutch with pepper jack cheese, yellow mustard, lettuce, onion, pepperonicinis, pickles, tomatoes, sprouts and pesto). At the sandwich counter there are papers you fill out to signify what you want, whether is is a whole sandwich/wrap ($8.99), half sandwich/bagel ($5.99) or the specials/paninis (varies from $8.99 to $10.99). I was pretty impressed with the sandwich as it was filled with all the ingredients. I was a little disappointed that the dutch crunch was not crunchy. But I also learned after the fact that I could have asked them to toast it up and would have gotten that dutch crunch effect. For the price and size alone, I can see this being a go to sandwich spot for my sandwich fixes. They also give you a cute surprise, a Andres mint chocolate wrapped with the sandwich. After handing my paper to the ladies behind the counter, it was not long before my sandwich was ready to grab. There was a sign that said if you order 9 custom sandwiches, you can get the 10th one free if you sign up for their rewards program. I choose to use the QR code to do so. I purchased the sandwich at self checkout and punched in my number, though im not sure if it even worked or not. I received points, but I did not see whether their point system had to do with the sandwiches or if it was points in general. Next time I am definitely asking to toast the bread and hopefully, it's a 5/5 in my book! read more

I stopped in after a hike to get some water and snacks. I was impressed with the beautiful organic berry display that greeted me at the entry. They were so pricey, though, that I passed. The cost was double what other stores charge. I made my way to the bakery section to get my husband a cookie. Everything is packaged. No counter bakery service. I bought a box of a dozen of their "bakery" cookies. Okay, but expensive and stale. I set off toward the back to find bottled water. The aisles were wide, clean, and not crowded. There was an adequate selection of mineral waters and an abundance of other beverages from mushroom tonics to herbal boosters. I opted for self-check out as I had two items. There was an employee watching the self/check out like his life depended on it. I scanned both items, paid, took my receipt, all within two feet of him. I grabbed my items and he demanded to check my receipt, as if I had stolen everything. It would have been comical, if I wasn't offended. If I'm thirsty or very hungry, I'll stop again. read more

I go here periodically because they have good produce and meat but wow the service is weird here. They want everybody to use self check but a lot of their special items don't have bar codes so it's not really practical. It's about 50/50 if the one cashier open has a bagger or not. And today was the final straw. I'm waiting in line at the one cashier (with no bagger) and they open up another lane and I'm next up so I start unloading. And the cashier says "let me just get this guy first" and it's the guy in front of me who was already at least partially loaded onto the belt of the original position. And that guy, who is about 200 years old, starts glacially loading onto the new belt. I was thinking about just abandoning the cart and leaving, because I really really didn't want to interact with the new cashier after that, and this guy is hyper slowly loading things up, but the first station has a long line now. Thankfully, the next guy in line in the first station comes over and says "I don't know what the hell that was, but do you want to just come back here". And I did. And I got checked out before the ancient dude who was moved in front of me, because he was just that slow. So all's well that ends well, right? The kicker is that just as I've run up the bagger comes sprinting from who knows where, and bags my groceries really fast. So fast she puts my cream pie... sideways... in the bag. Sideways. A cream pie. It's just absolutely slumped over into a kind of a puddle on the side of the container. I discover this as I put it into my car but there's no way I'm going back NOW to deal with these people. So yeah double last straw. read more

I was in here on Friday on my way to hike and about to pick up some food. Looking at the back wall of water and drink options when a swarm of teenage boys came in from the local high school and asked me to buy them alcohol and when I said no, they called me a slur (I'm a woman that doesn't adhere to gender stereotypes) and then threatened physical violence. I left as I didn't feel this a was a safe or pleasant atmosphere, I went to Palace Market in Point Reyes and had a friendlier and much better expereince. read more

Hello I have been here for 45 years when Harvest Market was Petrini's and the customer service has been amazing just wanted to say Thanks to Sasha ,Laticia ,and William , also there is a guy who closes most nights I don't remember his name. He's a tall younger guy and he's very nice. I wish I could remember his name but he's awesome too when I get off work he was there about eight or 830. Easily the most carny place I frequent, which is ironic as the prices here are criminal at an elite rate. This place is the most expensive grocery store I've ever frequented without all of the luxury of a nice town chain, and with the combination of the most rude cashiers you'll ever have the pleasure to meet (both the old ones and the young ones). I local market in Montecito was more affordable. And look, I'm not one to complain about prices. Take the price of gas....who cares, I still have to drive. I'll be paying for the gas. Food?! Going out to eat 1-2 times a week like we always do....yes, I understand why it is more expensive now and we are both understanding and happy to pay for the service and happy to support the restaurants, and always tip 20-25% for the most basic of good service, especially during this pandemic. But, when a place both 1.) doesn't deserve the rates, 2.) doesn't provide nice service, and 3.) doesn't carry elite products for the price, oh and 4.) has moldy rotten ceiling tiles above the milk and egg sections....to name a few Yeah, this place is a visit only in case of emergency type place, sad. read more

I know most people don't read Yelp reviews as much as they used to, but I thought that I would remove one star from Harvest Market. Although many employees remain polite and cordial, some have soured even to the point of not offering me a bag even though I clearly have more than I can carry. Even then, it is begrudgingly shoved at me. Also, I understand that they are the only grocery in northwest Novato, but their prices are usually much higher so I will be willing to drive elsewhere for most things. The organic selection is poor. I love this store but they have a rude female clerk who walks through the store blowing bubbles from a wad of bubblegum, talking loudly and laughing with other employees and shaking her long oily blackrooted/half blond hair like she's on a runway I have left the store if she's the only employee on the checkout counter. I told another checker that I was so glad that she was on duty because I couldn't deal with that obnoxious twit. She said I wasn't the only customer who felt that way. read more

Best selection of quality meats. Only downside is the prices are a little high. Which is why they got four star and not five. Need department staff and produce department. Superior quality; staff has low turnover, so they recognize their customers. I love shopping here. It is my preferred market. I won't buy ground beef or deli meat anywhere else. House roasted turkey and roast beef are excellent. We love the chicken salad and the beet salad in particular. Prices are a little higher than big chain grocery stores, but worth it IMO. One of the best supermarket delis around with fresh specialty foods and custom sandwiches. The Mt Diablo hot Dutch crunch pannini style is my favorite with a few extras added. Check lut the menu to find your favorite. You will not go away hungry and may end up saving the other half for another meal. I had questions about what cut of meat to use for my dinner and Tom, in the meat department, could not have been more helpful, friendly, or knowledgeable! He told me everything I needed to know and provided the best customer service! He said the whole meat department is a team and two of them have over 70 years experience in their work. I believe that! Apparently the s---t show continues at this deli. Looking back on reviews it's all there. Going back up to four years. Complaint after complaint. But the most telling thing is that they don't give a hoot. No one responds to these bad reviews. I won't go into detail regarding my last episode because frankly no one cares. Ask for the manager and voice your point and the shoulders just shrug. I know what you're thinking. Why go back there? Because I don't want to drive all over Novato instead of near my house. i suspect Harvest Market in Novato turns a profit (in spite of itself) because they have an older, captive customer base right there in the San Marin neighborhood. Prices are inflated, workers seem to be just going through the motions (no smiles, no thank you's, and sometimes they're just unpleasant.) Comparable markets like Nugget charge top dollar, but offer friendly, motivated staff (which helps to offset the sticker shock.) It's a shame because Harvest has top-flight butcher and deli operations. It's a classic business mistake: Harvest lacks the management presence and expertise that operating a successful, high-end grocery demands. read more

This market is within walking distance to my house and has most everything I could need but is so very expensive! I only go there when I need something in a hurry. Ususally it is pet food. They carry beef bones with marrow which are hard to find anywhere else for my dogs and yesterday it was over $13 for 4 bones! Used to buy them regularly but now only occasionally... when I was young, beef bones were usually free if you ask the butcher! read more

Prices are a little higher but they are my local market closest to my house and I love all the people there. It's a good stuff and they have good selection for the most part. Also the food they make there is really good. Highly suggest trying the hot bar or anything from the deli. Their breakfast burrito is so good. read more

If your in the area and craving a sandwich, you will be happy if you choose to come to the Harvest Market Deli. It's right next door to the Kaiser. There is lot of parking. And the price is right! My husband didn't even complain. Our appetites were not big and we decided to share .....not next time! First, the women working at the deli are dedicated to customer service. They are friendly and helpful. They also, are efficient. We ordered a Turkey cranberry sandwich with one extra topping, pepperoccini. I spell it wrong but, it tasted great. The rye bread was aft and fresh mmmm. The Turkey is baked in house and sliced perfectly. And, it only costs $6.99 The woman at checkout was also smiling and friendly. I'm not certain but, I believe I interacted with one woman at the deli 7 years ago....last time we were in the area. She's from Louisiana, I think. Love the drawl:) yay read more

Thought we try this since it's close and on the way home. But should've read all the reviews. Where shall I start, Service apathetic, But ultimately the food was sub par, roast beef was tasteless and looked like it was very old. watermelon was rotten, Had to throw it away. Prices were higher than Whole Foods. Pathetic organic selection. Was a challenged to find lettuce that wasn't almost rotting. Not to mention I asked for 1/2 a pound of cold cuts sliced thin and received almost 3/4 pound sliced thick. I have been going to Harvest Market for years and noticed recently some of the employees are getting more unfriendly. We had a young rude lady for our checker today. She didn't acknowledge us and was talking to someone else, tapping her thumb, and chewing bubble gum as she checked us out. I have also noticed one or two courtesy clerks there who don't even say hello. I think it's very unprofessional. I hope that changes soon so we won't lose the store as more people may start shopping elsewhere. read more

[Out of Towner Review] Is this the only grocery store in Novato? Kidding, but kinda not. This store and the shopping center it resides in were the only thing we saw on our way to and from Alamere Falls. We wanted a snack and this was our only option. Everything seems expensive here. We were on a mission for chips to snack on for the 2 hour ride home. They had a decent selection, but not unfortunately the Doritos I wanted weren't on sale. The cashier wasn't neither friendly nor mean, just kinda existing in her job. That's totally fine by me, just didn't make my first impression of this place great. The employee who was doing something in the fridge was nice and confirmed where I thought the restrooms were. Not very good signage for customers, FYI. The bathrooms didn't have any issues, just regular old bathrooms with all the regular stuff one would need. I left there just blah, not any sort of way -- other than it seemed overpriced and not really worth shopping here, if there was a different option. Handy, but not ideal... read more

I went in the other day to get a sandwich. Everything went smoothly at that point. The cashier at the deli was speaking to a customer ahead of me...still good. Suddenly she LITERALLY left me standing without a word why. I called repeatedly. Hay, I'm a paying customer! About 3/4 minutes later she came back and bluntly told me that the register was closed and that I would have to use the main registers. Why was she working in the vicinity of the deli cash register if it wasn't to take care of customers. Main register people were fine. The manager was fine with the exception of the song and dance about a death in the family of one of the deli personnel. To my utter horror and dismay the girl who started this mess was cashiering on the deli cash registers as I walked out. I do NOT recommend this store. Every day at about 1:45 pm, I have a break in the San Marin area of Novato and I usually head for Harvest Market. Why? The question brings to mind Elizabeth Barrett Brownings beloved poem, "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." 1. Clean floors and pleasant displays. 2. Clean bathrooms. 3. Friendly and courteous employees that seem to be happy. 4. Products are fully faced. 5. Extensive delicatessen. 6. Huge selection. 7. Fresh produce that looks "just-harvested." 8. Meat counter that rivals any I've seen. 9. Several gnoshing kiosks scattered throughout. 10. While prices tend to be higher than Safeway, there are bargains. If I lived in San Marin, Harvest Market would be my primary grocer of choice. read more

I just love Harvest Market! It's a nice neighborhood grocery store with a large selection and good prepared foods too! Also, the staff is the friendliest group of people I've come in contact with at a grocery store. I have to admit, the grocery stores in this area are all very good, but Harvest has that small-town grocery store feel and they greet you when you walk in as though you are an old friend. Besides being overpriced, and generally having lousy customer service(except for Management) Harvest Market employees seriously lack training in appropritely dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Total disregard of what social distancing actually is, and having attitude when asking them for appropriate space. Your cashiers do and say nothing when they see people closely clustered rather than suggesting they Distance themselves. The employees, shelf stockers etc. also walk right up on you as they pass, or will stand right next to you and start stocking. Also, they are oblivious to other shoppers, and will not step even 1 foot in any direction to give customers 6 feet of space to pass. Who is training these employees? They seem truly oblivious to the pandemic. Other than a couple of signs they've hung, it is just business as usual for them at this location. I dislike going there now; and except for a very few specialty items that other stores don't carry, I avoid the store completely. As someone who shops for others during this Pandemic, especially those in need who are vulnerable, I frequent many of our local Novato markets to shop for others. Trader Joe's is among the very best markets in their approach to managing their store, employees, and their customers. Harvest market however is at the very bottom of the list.
