Today, my kid was turned away because the kids club was at capacity due to poor planning, crappy ratios and the staff's inability to look at the schedule, look at who's registered for classes, look at who in those classes has a kid's membership and go from there. When I raised concerns with the staff and front desk, I was met with attitude and told to call guest services if I need help. This was what Ivan said after he said "we can remove the service for you right here" before he doubled down and threw a card on the counter and told me to call guest services. Additionally, one of the inept employees in the kids club, misidentified me as the parent who cussed her out and was hostile. I wasn't hostile - I made a few faces and asked specific, pointed questions. Y'all can't handle it because you don't know how to work under pressure and weren't given talking points? Fine. Be mad then, sis. Don't care. So, Ivan wanted to play savior and "write my name down" so that he could "determine what to do." FOH. Don't get mad at me when I ask legitimate questions about your policies that are not posted. Further, when you elevate your voice, don't get mad at me when I do the same. I have never had a positive experience here with the management team. I have filed multiple complaints and addressed multiple concerns and have never been followed up with. Ever. I have already requested cancellation of both of my memberships, and a refund. This gym is a hot mess. The management team is terrible. Spare yourself. And they're anti-Black American. I've had multiple experiences that demonstrate that: -no acknowledgment of Juneteenth in similar ways as July 4, despite it being a majority Black club -prior to opening, the guy whose last name is Tillman spoke about the fact that they don't have a gym because "this is PG COUNTY and all the thugs would show up sagging" -ongoing interactions I've witnessed and experienced between myself and the management team

I spent about five hours at the Yards location this week to thoroughly evaluate it before committing as I've been getting spammed in the mail, and I'm glad I did. The staff's attitude was consistently condescending, from the Senior Membership Advisor (Saad Siddiqui) upselling me, person trainers roaming around the facility, to the people at front desk. My main issue how the staff addressed my comment about the soft flooring in the free-weight area, which is completely unsuitable for barbell squats. When I brought this up, the staff condescendingly told me to just use the Smith machine or use the Olympic platform, completely dismissing a valid safety concern. There was a Titan Fitness safety squat bar (SSB) that I had no idea how much it weighed. I asked two person trainers (you'll see PT and their clients everywhere in the gym) how much the bar weighed. The PTs said they had no idea and left it at that. The front desk staff was equally apathetic. I've had better customer service at Planet Fitness for a tiny fraction of the cost. This place is motivated about locking you into their membership plan and signing you up to the many classes and services they offer. This place is not it and I highly recommend looking elsewhere in the DC area.

I just moved to the area and this is the first time coming to this location that is about 5-minutes…read morefrom my house. Now my home gym was in Woodbridge and compared to this one Woodbridge doesn't compare at all! First off this Planet Fitness is truly 24/7 so that is a plus right off top! And there is enough parking for everyone which again is not the case of the Woodbridge location. Now when I walked inside because this is my first time and I had to get a quick workout before work I did a quick walk through of the business. And my God it's huge compared to the Woodbridge location and I saw so many different machines here I've never seen before! Especially the glute thruster machine! Yes! Because it's large there are several different workout areas so you are not on top of each other and able to get in a quick 30-45 minute workout in and out. I went around 230pm and didn't have any problem with getting a cardio machine to warm up and knocking out a quick workout on bench and machines. Now this is the kicker that makes me love this Planet Fitness...I am the type of person who would go back home if I forgot my headphones. But because the music selection they had playing I didn't even need my headphones! This is a FIRST for me! Now it might not be your cup of tea of the music choice, but I was able to get a great 45-minute workout without any problems. I am a Black Card member and I love that they have actual rooms that has the massage chairs, etc that is Black Card members are able to use. I love that it's out the way from the main workout floor and separate. I didn't see a couple of the new machines that were suppose to be placed in Planet Fitness like the hack squat and the calf weight machine. So hopefully they will be getting those soon...but with the new equipment they do have the workout options are limitless! I didn't see the abduction or adductor machines but I might have missed them. Update...I found them in the area with the other glute focused section. Again a great place to put it so you won't be busting it wide open in the middle of the floor...lol A couple of things I see is they need to pay a little more attention to the bathroom cleanliness. Toliet tissue is all over the floor. Also, I'm a black card member and they only have maybe a couple of the massage beds that work. So if you don't get there first you won't be able to use it unless you wait. I don't know the time limit so I can't say because it seemed like the people who was using them took longer than the 10-mins Woodbridge makes you take. But other than that it's a clean gym! I will be canceling my other gym membership. So happy I went with the black card membership so that I was able to go and try other gyms without having to set up another membership. Planet fitness for the win!

The owner is also a gem and she's truly goals!! Being a woman you can feel so intimated and uncomfortable going to the normal local gyms in the area, but you don't have to worry about that feeling anymore at HFF! At first I was a bit intimated, but once I got into a groove it has been a great journey so far. I'm on my second month and I'm glad to be a part of the HFF family! The trainers don't play and they really push your limits! They also offer classes like stretch, yoga, mixed fit, Zumba and more. If you want to build on your skill set this is the studio for you. I focus on the cirque sensual side of the studio (so acro chair, aerial hoop, and pole silks). It's a lot of fun and I have progressed since I began almost 2 years ago. I just wish there were more classes and levels offered within the cirque membership. It's been great working with the current instructors. Though I miss many of the old instructors, each instructor - old and new - brings their own uniqueness and fun to the studio.

I would not recommend this gym. I've been fortunate enough to take classes at/join several smaller,…read morehyper, local gyms. This one, however, left a lot to be desired. I purchased a package of yoga classes from Groupon. The owner was kind enough to apply the package to my account, which I appreciated. Originally, I was supposed to be able to book the classes directly through Groupon, but I was unable to do so. Not a big deal. However, what is a big deal, is the fact that on the same day that the package was applied to my account, I informed the owner that I would be attending a class. I registered for the class and everything through the app. It is nice that they have their own app. However, Things started to crumble when I actually arrived. I register for the class less than two hours before it started. Actually, I think it was within an hour. When I arrived, there was no greeting when I entered the building. There was a young woman sitting at a desk on a computer. I informed her it was my first time and asked what I needed to do. She checked me in, but said nothing else. She didn't indicate if I should wait, go back to the class, what was going on. So, I sat down next to another woman who had a yoga mat. About 10 minutes later, and definitely after the scheduled start of class, another woman came in with a yoga mat and proceeded to walk right through the door next to the desk. At that point, we realize that maybe we were able to go back. So, we started to. However, in order to get to the back room where yoga is held, you have to walk-through to pole/chair dancing classes. I hate walking through other people's classes that are actively taking place. But whatever. It would've been fine if we hadn't been made to wait because they were recording videos of the dancers.Like... I'm already late. PLEASE. So, we eventually find our way to the yoga room, which is really a pole room but it has enough space for yoga. As soon as we entered, an instructor made note of the fact that we would not be needing our yoga mats today. I was immediately annoyed and confused. Why would I not need a yoga mat for a yoga class? It was at that point that she informed us that we would be participating in a "chair one "class because the yoga instructor asked her to sub. Now, remember, when I said that I had just booked the class? You don't think the owner knew this? You don't think she should've maybe mentioned that to me as the person who clearly had signed up for yoga for a reason? And the chair one class was nothing like what I had hoped for. It was not a chair dance class. It was a "cardio" class for people with mobility issues. Based on the looks of things, nobody in that class had mobility issues. I was so tight. I ended up doing all of the exercises standing up because I was already there and needed to work out. I absolutely left with an attitude. However, I try to give small businesses, grace. I came back the next week. And when I did, I experienced a yoga flow that was confusing, and not relaxing at all. In fact, during the entire flow, you could hear the ex excessively loud and upbeat music from the chair and pole classes. And, the instructor kept having issues with the sound during our session. I did not like the flow, I did not like the cues. This wouldn't have even been a good intro to yoga class for someone who has never done it before. There was just too much unprofessional behavior here. And I absolutely would not recommend.

The issue is that the free weight section has a LOT of work that needs to be done. The free weight area is so small that only 4 benches can fit and that's a TIGHT squeeze. There is literally NO room. I understand that in the track/cross fit/ cardio section there are more free weights, but even that area has a horrible selection of benches to use. If you're a cross fitter then you'll love the track area... There's several row machines, medicine balls, and an entire cross fit rack area full equipment. The spin bike area rocks thanks to having about 40 bikes (not entirely sure...I'm WAG'ing the number) You can definitely find something to work iut on...but the space is not the greatest.
