I have, after all, she has been a part of my family and part of our daily charge for 24 years. No response Saturday evening. Nothing Sunday morning until after two more inquiries. Initially, things were looking better. Steve from Trusted Journey indicated she would be picked up within the hour. Three hours later, my wife received a call indicating she would not be picked up (facility issues) and we should call another branch of this massive corporate conglomerate. Worse, when asking what changed, she was told: "Listen lady, don't go off on me. It's not my F#%@ problem your horse died" Unprofessional. Uncompassionate. Unresponsive. Not recommended. It's gone corporate & part of a conglomerate, like a car dealership - drive through service. Very professional and organized which was appreciated. Facilities are very nice as were the staff. Plenty of visiting space. Staff was responsive to queries andade themselves available. Flexibility previously seen in scheduling, accommodating the family, and honoring for some aspects of contracted services has been lost, e.g. they would not keep/refrigeratorate the casket floral arrangement until internment 4 days later. Guest refreshments contracted and paid for had to be renegotiated. Refreshments provided were very nice.

Most recently, I went to the visitation for the father of a friend of mine. One thing I remember is that the visitation space was decorated "floor to ceiling" with items that represented his hobbies during his lifetime. There was a table set up with refreshments and it was uniquely customized for him. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming to the family and guests. All in all, Cook Funeral Home did a fantastic job of honoring and celebrating a life well lived.

The driver stated they had another funeral that day to get back to. When I arrived, the hearse was leaving the cemetery going back to Grand Rapids, the graveside services had already been held.
