I've been a loyal customer of Beverly Pet Center for years. It's where I've gotten my guinea pigs, their toys, food, everything, however, after today I'm not giving them my business. I've just lost one of my guinea pigs recently and came to the store looking for another. I called for the employee named March if I can hold the baby guinea pig. Unfortunately, the baby was female which wasn't what I was looking for and I put the piggie back in it's enclosure. I walked around the store for a while browsing the products and admiring the selection of fish, however, as I circled back I was reconsidering getting the female pig. I asked March if I may hold her again, but she responded snappily in a raised, rude tone "I can't be there all day are you gonna buy it or not?". It honestly discouraged me from the purchase and I felt ashamed and embarrassed. I decided this wasn't an appropriate response and approached the manager, Johan on March's service. I'd be fine if there was a policy or if it was properly explained that that they can't take animals out much, however, he immediately jumped to March's defense and made excuses such as she must've been busy attending customers (in which there was only two others being attended by another younger female employee. The store was empty and she was walking around aimlessly), that I was walking around (I do not understand what browsing the store has to do with having a feel for a guinea pig), and that I held the guinea pig a couple times in which I only held one piggie each to determine their temperament (there were only two). This interaction wasn't enjoyable and I felt the manager did not care. I feel the store has gone down in quality of the years and it's disheartening to see. I will not be coming back! read more

The way they had some of these animals living baffled me. I noticed they had birds kept in these containers in the back with more than one bird in some and with the lids on. some of the reptiles living in tanks way too small for them. A lot of them looked sickly with very bare habitats. Wont be supporting this place. read more

This review is based on the hours of operations Opening a place of business that has necessity at 10 am is extremely late. I can't believe in 2021 a pet store is open at 10am. I was waiting at home and giving them to 9 am. I get here at 945 thinking I can run in and out and I have to wait an additional 15 minutes. I have been a long time customer and I'm very disappointed and hurt about one of the interactions with staff I just had. I asked the cashier named Leila if there was any way they could trim my guinea pigs nails. She responded very rudely "no we don't do that here" and "We only provide that service from 1-5" I was confused because I've been here before with the same guinea pig and had no problem getting his nails trimmed. I come every two months for a nail trim as the staff here recommended. As I told her this she caught an attitude and again stated "it was a one time thing they don't do that here". Again I politely told her I've been here before and they've always did this for me. When I asked if I could speak to someone else she brushed me off and again very rudely and in a matter of fact tone stated "no we don't do that here. It was a one time thing and my manager told me so". I was taken aback of how rude she was speaking to me as I was not yelling or causing a scene. I then just simply and politely asked if I could exchange an item and return something as well. After she saw I wasn't going to continue on about the nail trimming she was fine. I can't believe how this company can hire someone so rude and arrogant! I left feeling embarrassed and tearful because all I've been was nothing but kind to every staff there and this is how I'm repaid? Just awful. I called the store immediately to speak to the manager about it and he apologized on her behalf and he also had a much more clearer answer than the cashier did. Cashier Leila needs some home training on manners. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. The manager also explained that there was only one employee who worked the fish department that did guinea pig nail trimmings and it would throw the whole staff off balance if they were to pull him from fish department. With that cleared up I understood why they couldn't do it. The manager was very well spoken and sweet. He was very professional and actually knew why they didn't to the nail trims instead of just telling me no and giving me two different answers as to why I couldn't do it like Ms. Leila did. I don't feel comfortable coming back and that interaction left a nasty taste in my mouth about this place. read more

One of my teenage boys favorite places! Beverly's might be the biggest pet store in the area. They have a huge selection of pet supplies and foods at discount prices. Like Other pet stores, they have a frequent feeder program available (buy 10 bags of food, get 1 free). Beverly's also has a large selection of animals including birds, reptiles, rabbits, and more. What Beverly's really specializes in though is fish. Beverly's sells both fresh water and salt water fish, plus anything you would need to set up an aquarium. The staff is experienced with aquariums and can give expert advice. If you need more than advice in the store however, Beverly's also provides aquarium service! They will come to your house for new tank installations and full tank maintenance. My teenagers maintain their own tanks but every now and then the tanks have had issues and the folks at Beverly's have been lifesavers! If you want a new aquarium or help maintaining g your current aquarium, Beverly's is the place to go. read more

i come from a corporate background 27 years and have ran 25 store all over the US, Integrity to me is EVERYTHING. Farhers day my husband visited lBeverlys pet store with his besty passing time while i had to work in Miami all day . I came home and my husband one of the nicest most humble selfless men i know fell in love with a puppy at Beverley's. The employee quoted him 400 dollar price for a very expensive dog bc she apparently needed sugery for a double hernia. Because of his heart and compassion he agreed to get her. when it was time to cash out a hispanic young guy appeared and made a big deal that he was the manager and now she was 500 after all the girls ( working( convinced him the puppy needed him to take care of her and get her for 400 dollars . My husband felt insulted with the demeanor and bad business practice he was demonstrating . He refused to honor the price originally qouted. It was more important for him to be right than to do right. When i got home my husband explained all this and with my experience in years of management felt it was a misunderstanding. i called and spoke with a lovely lady named Margery and she recollected the incident . She said the price was 400 and the manager should be ok so i sent him back up again! About 50 minutes later he came back with no dog!!! Just to avoid the back and fourth i went up there entered and asked to speak to store manager and Mardgery together for clearing to avoid any he said she said. He refused to have her be in this requested by me meet ing. stating she was busy . I explained my side and my concerns and he basically called my husband a liar. Well after 3 trips 20 minutes away which is totally uncalled for . i was angry by him calling my husband a liar especially when i know hes an exceptional man with great core values ( i've know him since 5) . i became agitated. after he said my husband was lying and i told him this was more about his pride and this was F ing not necessary nor fair. Yes i did use the f word and offered to give him the extra 100 for her to get puppy ready and he said he was no longer going to sell to me and for me to leave his store. I asked for corporate , district , or regional number to resolve this another way he was arrogant and just had to be right. It wasn't no longer about a sick puppy that needed medical attention or to do what's right he had to be right. He called the police to try to have me removed and they couldn't be bothered bc there wasn't an incident just a young hard headed know it all in charge with no heart or honor. At the tail end when i realized it just waant happening and i was wasting my time i chose to leave and a tall elder man jumped in the situation KNOWING NOTHING and started ordering me to leave that he is a retired police officer . Well im retired also from county as well so now we have a retired police officer wanting to have a pissing contest with me outside. He was talking to dispatch outsude the two front doors while i was going to my vehicle HE (apparently frequent customer) was yelling don't touch me , back up , don't touch me and i was literally at my car. He was trying to stir up a ruckus so PD would show up thinking he was being threatened. Now mind you I'm 411 almost 60 years old and he's like 6ft 5 and I am at least 500 ft feet away from hiim.! Im by far an angel of any means but I'm a good person and I have never been so appalled . I spoke my mind to this guy when he was outside being a fool but i continued to leave. i spoke with the officer that called me on my way home and he was very sympathetic and kind and he also gave me some ideas on how to follow up on this situation. This should never have escalated not even a little . We are talking about a pet store supposedly private owner selling sick animals and yet more concerned about being right than the welfare of the animal and not honoring their price, we all know veterinarians are extremely expensive and a double hernia surgery would not be cheap.The animals best interest should always be top priority no matter what. It is a shame that someone let their ego get in the way of a wonderful man's Father's Day and a sick dogs Destiny so very sad. My husband spoke with another manager today and she told them they have me on camera and are going to expose me to being a racist if he doesn't take down his bad review . This Is the icing on the cake fo me?! lol i have an international family and my husband is African-American. Let's see how this plays out. I cannot believe I live in a society with these type of people in it. It's all getting to be too much. IF YOU PLAN ON BUYING ANYTHING SALTWATER DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! If you plan on buying anything salt water don't waste your time. I bought a very expensive saltwater anemone that had died within the 48 hours of putting it in my tank. (By the way I bought the water from there store!) I put the anemone in my tank and it died within 48 hours of having it. I went to go return it they told me that they have no policy for saltwater and that all sales are final. Which is NOT posted anywhere in the store and is not told to the customer when purchasing a saltwater animal or items. If you plan on buying anything Saltwater go somewhere else it's not worth spending a lot of money for an anemone to die on you in less then 48 hours and then for them to tell you we can't do nothing about it and they can't even give you a store credit. read more

I went to Beverly's pet center to check up on reptiles and saw these two adult bearded dragons housed together. I was told they have been raised together since babies. Yet they were selling them separately for ~$250 each! Mind you, the tank was probably about 40lbs -that's the minimum size for a single adult dragon! Please, buyers, beware!!! read more

It is an automated engraver. How does one break it. Then the "loss prevention" lady followed us around the store like we are thieves. We have bought some fish. Fish tanks. Air pump. Wate filters. Pet food. We certainly don't steal. Wife is a nicu nurse I'm a store manager of an autoparts store. We bring our 3 year old to check out the animals. Well not anymore. Stopped by this place cause I was at an adjacent business and I happen to need cat food. I don't normally see pet stores that aren't big box stores so it was a very different experience. First of all, it's huge like a Pet Smart. I didn't walk the whole store but I could tell they have a lot of stuff. What I wasn't too happy about is that they had a HUGE row for dog food but a very small section of cat food. What I did like is in that small section they at least had really good cat food brands. Not a huge selection of each brand like I'm used to seeing but at least there were good healthy, homeopathic options. With an armful of cans I noticed that they had tons of live animals to see. A lot of exotics like a few baby pigs, exotic chickens they even had a chinchilla! They also had a good array of reptiles, and arachnids. Very cool. These animals looked healthier and happier than the animals I see at PetSmart & Petco...they look so miserable. This place didn't have the super clean hygienic fell like the other big box pet stores but it was definitely more fun. I'd definitely visit again. read more

Worst pet store on this planet. Not only is the manager the worst at customer service and embarrasses and belittles *paying customers* but they also don't care about the animals. I got my hamster only a month ago with the impression that she was still a baby considering her small stature & timidness. I one day discovered a bloody tooth on one of her ceramic cups I use when taking her out of her enclosure. Then the next day I noticed a open sore under her chin. I took her to the vet & they said she is way older than she looks. She has periodontal disease due to malnutrition & looks small because her teeth don't allow her to properly eat. All of her teeth are loose, broken and infected. It saddens me to think about what type of life she may have lived before I got her from that terrible place. Their rules are all "bendy" and none of the employees give you straight answers. Luckily I care for the hamster and want to give her the best life possible. This pet store is sick!! read more

If you are dumb enough to go to this place buckle up buttercup. It is way overpriced. Buy your items online and wait a few days to get a 50% discount...not that you are getting anything because that is what it is actually worth! There is a manager there who calls himself Johan. He is rude, insulting, and an all around bad person. I can only have sympathy for his staff. I went to this place to look for driftwood for a fish tank. Keep in mind that this is Florida! I could simply go to any beach and pick up driftwood. I saw the insane prices for hard scape and decided to just that. As I was leaving I saw a mother and daughter looking at a tabby cat. I thought about buying the kitty for them but then I saw the price! $186.00 cold hard US! Are you kidding me! I then rapidly proceeded to the exit. On the way out I saw a Golden Doodle. She was cute and although I have five dogs I thought...well why not ask for her price? The three associates standing by the cage told me that she cost $400.00 ! I was blown away! I drove home in order to okay it with my Wife. I then called back to have her on hold but I then had the pleasure of speaking to Johan. Within the time span of 30 minutes the price of the puppy raised $100.00 US green backs, and he informed me that she needed a double hernia surgery! This is the WTF moment...why should I pay a pet store to buy a pet that I have to put under the knife on day one? But wait!!!there is more! I obviously refused the price, but my Wife had a kind hart. She spoke to this "person " and he actually told her that I was a liar! Regardless of the fact that three associates confirmed it! At any rate Caveat Emptor pleb...and how can a pet store sell pets that are in need of medical attention? I cold go to any local app and get a pet like that for free. It just seems that my comment wasn't even on here. I have to make this statement to give everyone a head up in Pembroke Pines, and Miramar town. Long ago I had a bird Quaker blue color, I paid a lot more with a big bird cage, and some supplies with food. My Quaker bird had been kept for last 4 weeks and I kept checking the store whenever I could. Last time I checked my bird. I saw 2 different staff that work in the back with all babies birds, and grown birds. The worker picked up the grown bird and cut the wings in the wrong proper ways and I could see the bird was being hurt. He did on my bird too. So after 4 weeks the store called me and told me to pick it up. I was excited to drive over to the store and pick up my bird. So they explained the policy and warned me that I have 2 days to check up my bird before it become final. So I felt being rushed and took to my bird to Dr.Ferber. They told me that the bird is not healthy, it has respiratory and pneumonia.. My bird could not survived even taking a medication. So I got very angry and had to run back to the store to explain everything to store owner and employee Alexander. The store owner first did not want to take back the sick bird but I have proven the doctor notes of what they said about this bird. The store owner does not agree with Dr Ferber and he want me to go Dr. GERRICK! I felt that they are supporting each other in some ways. So I stick with Dr.Freber. We agree get my money back and give them back the bird. Also gave them the bird medication. They didn't want to take the medication then they changed mind. Alexander who is bird expert, he think he could fix the bird when I got told that bird gonna died in later or soon. Alexander just to pretend and act like He will take care of it. I left the store and then I came back week later for fish supplies. Guess what Alexender came up to me saying bird is okay and got a new home Already. I was like huh!?! You sold a bird that already gonna died, I would wish to stop the buyer to get that bird but too late. Bird is gone and these worker in that store does not give a F**** about it. For small animal care, everything looks great. However, when it comes to reptiles, I was very disappointed. Almost all the leopard geckos are very underweight, have dropped/regrown tails, and one very clearly has metabolic bone disease. Then to make it even worse, I witnessed a family come in, looking for a tank for their leopard gecko. Keep in mind, the BARE MINIMUM size tank for a leopard gecko is a 10gallon HORIZONTAL tank. This family was told they should get a tiny vertical tank meant for frogs and then they were suggested one for crested geckos. Pictures for reference! Just started the hobby of fish keeping. Somebody told me Beverly's had a big selection of fish. I was not disappointed. As soon as I walked in there was an indoor pond filled with fish. I was able to find a great selection of aquatic plants, assorted fish and my favorite 2 very cool mystery snails. Snails are fun they truly have personalities.The saleswoman was very knowledgeable and gave me great tips of what fish to pick up for my new community tank. Ended up with angelfish, serpae tetras, dalmatian mollies one of my favourites, and cardinal tetras. For plants, amazon swords and dwarf sagittarius. Also found a great price on a canister filter. Beverly's had everything I needed to aqua scape and stock my big 60 gallon tank. This is definitely the place to go for my fish needs. Great selection with a great staff. read more

I love visiting Beverly's pet center because I get to not only find all the supplies I need for all our pets, but I also get to explore and see all the exotic animals they have. From reptiles, amphibians, puppies, or birds, they have it all! The staff is beyond helpful and are always ready to answer any questions you might have. They also have a huge aquatic section with a variety of salt and fresh water fish, largest I've seen in South Florida! The animals are well kept and their cages are clean which shows their dedication to their animals. I always come here to shop for all my animal supplies because offer a large variety of items in stock. They also always have great deals which is a plus. I woke up with this random bright idea that I want a snake but I knew I needed to test my enthusiasm. So I Went to see how i would respond up close and personal. Victoria assisted me, she was very professional, friendly and personable. I was nervous to hold the snake but she was patient with me. Victoria answered my questions, providing full detail not just quick answers. She also showed me the mice I would have to feed the snake if I chose to proceed. (I wasn't ready for that part lol ) but it was a nice experience and fun. Because of Victoria enthusiasm and deep knowledge of snakes it assured me and I am seriously considering revisiting the snakes to get more acquainted and comfortable enough to eventually take one home read more

***BEWARE DONT BUY ANY ANIMALS FROM THIS PLACE THEY ARE JUST CROOKS*** I bought a fish from here and I spoke to the manager which his name is Matthew, as I was cashing out to pay for the fish I explained to him that the fish was going upside down and it looked like it was dying. He explained to me that it was totally normal and if there was any issues to bring the fish back and he would take care of it and exchange it for us, with my luck the fish passed away within a couple hours of purchase. I bring the fish back the next day and i spoke to Matthew and he basically told me that i can not exchange the fish after telling me i could before i purchased the fish.
