Mike helped made this trip to pick out a special tequila to celebrate my husband super smooth and educational. I admire how much knowledge he had for every different type of alcohol we asked about. He informed us of all the different notes of flavor and the filtration process along with which alcohol would be best for our needs which helped us determine which bottle would suit us best for the occasion. My recent trip to BevMo was a mixed bag of emotion. I was in search of two specific mini bottles of alcohol (twelve each). They had the one item, but not the other. Eventually I was able to locate Dawn who was kind enough to spend some time with me in the "Mini" section. I asked for suggestions on which item(s) would go with the one I had. She was very helpful. She was engaging and at the end of it all, she was able to come up with something that worked with the other item. So, twenty three bottles later (they were short on one) I went in search of a cashier. I turned to a cashier (based on the receipt, his name is Alegad), who appeared to have just walked up to the register. I asked him if he was open. He looked around as if he wasn't sure how to answer my question. There were no other customers in sight. After some time, he did mumble something which I took as a yes. I proceeded to put the the bottles on his counter. As I was putting them on the counter, I noticed that they were ringing up as a different price as advertised. When I asked him if they were ringing up at $2.49, he rudely stated that they are ringing up properly. My shopmate noticed that he rolled his eyes when I asked this question. At this point Dawn is approaching with the other eleven bottles and he sort of changes his tune. I asked again if it was ringing up at $2.49 and then he gave me a simple yes, but only because Dawn was there. Perhaps she is a manager or at least a superior to him. Unfortunately his behavior has already left me feeling a bit dejected. In cases like this, I have the option to leave everything on his counter and walk out. I can go get these items from a liquor store (probably would cost more) or buy from a different BevMo, but somehow I feel that still helps with his paycheck. I remembered how helpful and courteous Dawn was and decided to make the purchase anyway knowing that I would write a review about his behavior. It is a Friday evening. Perhaps someone called in sick and he was low man on the totem pole and was forced to come in. In any case his behavior is unacceptable. I have given this location a four star ONLY because of Dawn's Customer Service. If not for her, my visit was a one star thanks to Alegad. Here Is What I Think... I often make gift boxes/bags with mini alcohols for family gatherings, gifts or little surprises. BevMo (Fremont) is usually my go-to place for these. Perhaps I will find a new place altogether. In any case, it's not likely I will go back to this Gilroy location. Afterall, it was Friday for me too and I don't need a snarky encounter with a cashier. read more

A year ago I visited here and Shah took his time (even though managing the store) to educate me on the best beer to gift one of my most important clients with. Today I needed a very special champagne gift and although the employee who greeted me told me that Shah was working in the back office and offered me assistance in any way that he could, there was such a slam dunk if a success from the last time that I needed something so important that my wife & I were willing to wait! Shah is so generous in giving of his time and of imparting of his knowledge. It all comes from the heart and not from a sales script. I don't normally ask for the manager while shopping at any BevMo, but when I'm in Gilroy and I need something special, Shah always and only. I was so intrigued by what Shah shared with me today regarding a gift of Champagne for one of my top clients that I am also buying a bottle for myself!! read more

Experiences are a tough perception to express so I understand how customers can offer a really low scores based on one interaction. But my review is based on two recent interactions with a few different staffers, and they were all pleasant and individually came-up to me to offer assistance and ensure I found what I was looking for. The real reason for my review isn't about customer service though. I love that they sell two particular Scotch Whiskeys that used to be my favorites when living in Europe. I love these Whiskeys so much that when I moved back to the US, I packed multiple bottles of each in my suitcase. And then when those eventually ran out I went into BevMo and was pleasantly surprise (okay, I may have got a little happily misty-eyed), that they sold both Dalmore 12yrs, and Green Spot. Yeah, they are much much less money in their home countries, and it did pain me to purchase them for $20+ more than I would've spent in the EU but, I love them and I like to share them with my favorite people as gifts so it was a nice treat to run there last night (yet again) and grab a bottle of Dalmore for my brothers stocking stuffer, at about $64/bottle. The nice thing about BevMo is that when you sign-up you get coupons for money off your next purchase - um, yes please and thank you, BevMo! The also have their associates recommending items along the aisles with little signs that say why they chose that product and I love their recommendations so I trust them on that stuff too. Well we ordered a keg for a party we were throwing out in Hollister ... they sold us a keg over the phone and we drove all the way there from Hollister to pick it up. Tell me why they tell us when we get there that they have NO TAP for the keg?! How are we supposed to get the beer out the keg?? They should have at least told us on the phone before we drove all the way there that we needed our own tap! That's like selling shoes with no laces! read more

Love/hate relationship with this place -- Love their .05 cent wine sales. Hate that I love it. :P The customer serivce isn't bad but it's not good either, however the place is very clean and not overly crowded. The beer selections are pretty good too. Ahh, I like how BevMo is so clean, organized and well-lit so that it doesn't make me feel shady or sleazy, but more like just doing a bit of grocery shopping - which is exactly what I'm doing! The staff here is always friendly and ready to help if you need it, but give you space if you're just interested in browsing around like a nerd in a library. I love that this place always has at least two different types of 12-pack craft beer on sale for $11.99-$13.99 for me to pick up so that I don't have to show up to someone's place empty-handed, but rather, ready-to-go. I'm always reminded that the current season is almost over when I see BevMo carry the next seasonal variety packs from Blue Moon, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams and New Belgium. They also carry some local wine, which makes it convenient if you don't want to drive around the boonies looking for, say, Casa de Fruta's mead. Once I came here wanting to try 21st Amendment's Hell or High Watermelon wheat beer, but they were sold out. (Based on another Yelp review, they were probably all bought by Shiho F.!) One of the staff helped me place an order and indicated that a store manager from another BevMo was dropping by that afternoon and could bring a six-pack from his store. A few hours pass and one phone call later, I'm back at BevMo to pick up my watermelon wheat beer. Now that's service! Also, hooray for the staff that don't give me weird looks for the times I've shown up here with an Asian glow because I'm self-conscious about it enough as it is. read more

Upset to say the least. I ordered a keg for my party weeks in advance. I went to pick up my keg an hour before my party and they said they had no more ABC stickers and can't give me the keg. Sooooo I was left with no keg for my party and completely left hanging. My boyfriend had to buy a bunch of beer instead and we were not planning on keeping packs of beer cold so it put a damper on my party planning. I would consider this being unreliable and would not order a keg from here again. read more

(I know how dare I right, i guess she is paid to not help people at her place of employment) not only was she rude, she yelled and cussed at me and called me other curse words in front of my then 11 year old daughter after asking for her help to find a certain type of liquer for a funeral that day. They let me come early in the morning before the store was even open and pick it up from someone who was managing the stockroom. This was very helpful! Today the cashier named JOSE accused me of having a fake ID and even said "this is a really NICE FAKE". Last time I checked California ID's are completely acceptable!! I walked in with a friend who happened to be under aged, but wasn't intending to purchase alcohol and was refused service because of her age. When asked if the underaged person could LEAVE the store and I, being overaged - could purchase, I was still declined service. I asked an additional question: that if we both left the store, and I returned, being over aged, if I could purchase and he said he'd STILL decline my purchase due to prior intent. To make matters worse, when I called the store, after leaving, and asked if this was a regular policy for he store, it was explained to me that the underaged person could leave and the over aged person could purchase OR that the underaged person should stay in the car and the over aged person could buy/purchase and give to the underaged person once out of the store. Long story short, there were mixed messages and lost business due to misinformation. BevMo needs to do a better job posting this information for the consumers to see and providing their employees with the correct information to give to their consumers. Do better, BevMo. read more

This store is one of the best among their chains! About 3 months ago I went in and was looking for a specific import beer. They did not have any in stock and I asked them to let me know when it came in or if they could order it....that was 3 months ago at least. Today I get a call from them letting me know that they have been trying to order this item via their distributor for the past 3 month and their distributor was not able to get the item anymore. I was pretty shocked that they remembered me, my item and request, and that they called 3 months later to follow up with me on it. I asked the lady about the location of sake since I've never bought it at a BevMo, let alone know if they carry it. The sales associate was the worst ever. Gave me the snarkiest, rude response. Something along the lines of "well obviously you couldn't find it since you asked me about it". It's not my fault you had a bad day or don't like to help customers. I felt so offended I didn't even want to purchase from the store. If she's supposed to be the face of the store I don't think it will be very successful with the way she treats customers. Selection is your typical BevMo fair, which is to say very good. The 5 cent wine sales are a great deal & good way to try new wines without it costing much. The staff at this particular store was great. I was looking for a specific beer, not even sure if they carried it. If you want white claw that's been sitting and collecting dust and sh*t beer in trendy aluminum cans this is your place. Wine collection is trash. The biggest wine specialist, supposedly the store manager is never there after 12pm. I got lucky and ran into him and noticed when he gets a little rambled with questions, he hands you off to one of his associates who clearly is not trained in any wine knowledge. He discriminates and judges you by color and style of dressing as a customer. I came in to give this place a chance again and was truly disappointed. The staff here is pretty knowledgeable about beer from what I've talked to them about. I can't really comment on wine since that's not something I'm into. You really aren't going to find a place that has a bigger more diverse beer section in Gilroy. Do they have the super rare beers like Pliny, no but do they have a good selection of things from craft brews to Bud Light. They certainly do.
