We just discovered DeRose has a tasting room in the Gilroy area by a recommendation. We have been up to the winery in Hollister, which is a bit of a drive, but worth the time because the wines are all incredible. So we were excited to try out the new tasting room that is much closer to us. The people running the tasting are family and were so nice. They greeted us in and gave us options for the flight and had a Rosé open to try and buy by the glass (I love Rosé and this one was excellent). The first pour was in a chilled glass! We were told to sit down and make ourselves comfortable and they would bring the rest of the wines out to us. We decided to sit outside in their patio area and discovered there is another wine bar working side-by-side with DeRose who also offers wood-fired pizzas! As we sat down, our flights arrived and we enjoyed each and every one. Our favorites were the Viognier, the Zin Rosé (which they offered as an extra pour which made us feel special) and the Hollywood Red. The wines are excellent, but I must give five stars for the service and the special attention the staff provides. We decided to stay and share a pizza and get a bottle of Rosé for lunch. They insisted that they would keep our Rosé in the fridge to keep it extra chilled as the day was warm...awesome people and wine! We will definitely be back as they told us they change the wine options every week. I highly recommend DeRose if you are searching for great wine and a great wine tasting experience. I may be joining the wine club and become a regular...

We have been hearing about DeRose and thought we'd give it a try. It's inside a converted warehouse building with a beautiful bar and lots of tables. The people running it were super-friendly and started us off with our first pour of their Chardonnay in a chilled glass. It was very refreshing. Not an over-oaked Chardonnays like some others make, but a fresh and bright wine. It was very good. The rest of our wines were brought to our table in carafes nestled in a little wood box. We loved the system they have here as we didn't have to keep going back to the bar for the other pours or wait on staff to come out each time. We really like the Negrette and the Zin. Everything on the flight was excellent, but these two were the stand-outs! Staff checked on us often, gave us an extra little pour and told us about the history of the winery and how it is all family run. They let us know that the wine menu changes each week, so that's a plus as we won't get the same thing each visit! They even brought out blocks for our baby to play with so we could enjoy the experience. We ended up buying several bottles and had a great time. We will definitely be back and telling our friends.

Upon entering the tasting room there was no acknowledgement of our presence which felt very awkward (esp with only a few other patrons tasting) and available wine pourers. The staff were not smiling and were very short with us when we said we were there to taste. It definitely put a damper on the start of our day... We wondered if it had something to do with them merging or becoming Cor de Valle winery. It seemed confusing to us whether we were drinking wine from one or the other. Once we got past the odd lack of welcome and went to tables outside though, we had a wonderful time. Such a beautiful upper and lower courtyard surrounded by vineyards; it almost feels like you have been transported to somewhere in Europe. The wines were delicious. I loved the 22 Pirates Blend and the Viogner most.

There are 3 flight tasting options - white, red, and mixed (which includes a rose). All three are great options and value at 6 tasters for $20. If you choose to purchase a bottle they are all mostly around $26-45. I loved that this place allowed you to bring outside food as it was the perfect picnic spot but if you don't, they also have a mini fridge of charcuterie items to purchase. The winery itself is intimate, but with ample outdoor seating. A small babbling fountain, corn hole, and umbrellas for shade round out the ambiance. It was perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon. Also thank you to Jen & Mike for making the tasting so special and fun! I loved their knowledge of the wines and hospitality. Highly recommend a visit with friends :)

The staff did a great job at decorating the space and making this outdoor concert feel like an intimate experience. The table setup made the crowd feel like they're apart of a community. At sunset, this winery has stunning views of their vineyards. The concert was great. Pasquale is a resident guest of the winery and has a phenomenal voice. The food offered (chicken marsala, sausage and peppers, and balsamic vinegar dressed salad) was underwhelming. The selection was limited and food was cold. By the time I got to the food table, they had run out of the sausage dish. The wine selection was very good though. I particularly liked a few of the white wines offered during the event. The staff and servers were all friendly. It is apparent they all enjoy working here. The donation-pushing felt a bit tacky, however. During the entirety of my visit, I felt like I was being asked to donate (at the table, during dinner, before and after the performance). Of course their cause (providing music lessons to children) is incredibly important and has left a clear impact on the program's students, but it ended up taking away from my experience (especially considering the high cost of the concert tickets). Side note: the parking situation is challenging. There are very few handicapped parking stalls with a tiny lot. On concert nights, parking is located across the road at the neighboring high school. If you are visiting with anyone that has mobility issues, definitely come early to secure close parking. If you get the chance to see a Pasquale Esposito concert here, I would definitely go!

Unfortunately, both the service and the wine itself were disappointing. The best part of this place was definitely the beautiful grounds, which would make a gorgeous wedding setting.
