Being in jail certainly sucks! People blame elected officials for horrible conditions, yet we, the public voted those people in. And we, the public, demanded them to be "tough on crime". We meant violent criminals & such, not addicts & petty crimes! Why we think it's ok to spend our tax money incarcerating drug addicts, instead of educating our children is crazy! Our tax dollars could be better spent on our children obtaining better educations, possibly preventing them from later becoming an addict and rehabilitation for those who already have, instead of labeling drug addicts as felons & making it even more difficult for them to get housing & decent jobs, thus perpetuating this senseless cycle, forcing them further into crime and more dependent on welfare! FYI, Texas has the largest prison population in the WORLD! Compared to WHOLE COUNTRIES! Seems to be a goal, to lock up everyone at least once! At this rate, every household in Texas will have at least 1 felon! If not u yet, maybe next time? If u think it could never happen to u, only naive think judicial system is fair & impartial! Jail is where the ACCUSED go, innocent UNTIL proven guilty, so u don't actually have to do anything to find yourself there. If ur unable to bond, u stay, still "assumed" innocent, until ur case is heard. Sometimes months, up to 2 years! Some states have been sued for not providing those who were unable to bond out a more affordable bond or an alternative. It was deemed unfair and violation of rights, punishing the poor as they're forced to sit n jail, fighting their charges and not being able to help prepare their defense as well as they could have. Also, how long would u sit n county jail, fighting a charge? Even if u REALLY r innocent, after awhile, 6 months or so, probation offer looks really good! System is absolutely unfair and prejudiced against the accused. Even rich people find out how unfair system is. (Bernard Kerik! Former New York City police commissioner! Spent $1million on defense, still convicted of bogus charges. Does average person without a million bucks really stand a chance? His views on prisons & jails certainly changed once he became an inmate instead of the warden!) Next election year, SPEAK UP! Remember, they're only doing what they think public wants! Tell them we want a FAIR and IMPARTIAL justice system! Find candidate who wants to SERVE the public, instead of punishing it and making us pay the bill, while our children suffer without books in school, poor educations. We don't wanna pay to house drug addicts for YEARS in our prisons! (33k per inmate/per year! Versus few months n rehab!) Send em to rehab, don't label them, so that we have to support them! Life is funny this way, you know? You go from spreading your wings to fly, to spreading your cheeks so some insecure bisexual man hiding his identity can look into your asshole. Surely he has learned the discipline to hide his boner. Your entire humanity is stripped away, which makes sense, because unless you are rendered without the basic essentials of what it means to be human, how will you ever learn how to pay your traffic tickets, or stop smoking weed without some form of post traumatic stress disorder? Caged animals get better treatment. Hell, the animals at the pound don't have to share their cell with some dude who hasn't showered since ren and stumpy got cancelled. I guess they do get euthanized if nobody comes to save them... so that will earn you an extra star. I don't see many more opportunities for stars considering the air conditioner goes out, and it's not exactly important to get one running. This is cruel and unusual btw. So, jot that down. The beds have every comfort of sleeping in a shopping cart stuck in a low water crossing... oh but don't worry, the food will come and that alone will make you forget all of the other unpleasantries. The salt and pepper shakers are filled with the glaring reminder that there isn't even salt and pepper in this fucking hell. So you have to eat the hamburger meat and water soup, but with only those two ingredients. So do not dare think about working out to pass time, you will wither away into the abyss that is the Texas state judicial system. All jokes aside. This isn't suitable living, especially for people who have not been found guilty. Do better San Antonio. I understand the rich and powerful may never have to enjoy a weekend here as a result of their status, but I promise. These same people are not above nor below me as a human being. They know nothing more about this experience we call life than I know... so act like it. 2 stars because it only took 26 hours once I was bailed out to be released. read more

I recently had the unexpected pleasure of staying at Bexar County Jail, and while I can't say it lived up to my usual vacation standards, it definitely... left an impression. First, let's talk about the accommodations. If you've ever wondered what it's like to sleep on something that feels like a yoga mat with commitment issues, you're in luck. The bed says "minimalist chic," but my spine says "call a chiropractor immediately." The dining experience? Bold. Adventurous. Confusing. Every meal feels like a mystery box challenge where the theme is "beige." I'm still not entirely sure what I ate on day two, but it looked back at me first. Customer service is... consistent. Not good, not bad, just consistently reminding you that you are, in fact, not at a resort. The staff are very dedicated to their roles in what I can only describe as an immersive "consequences of your actions" experience. Amenities include fluorescent lighting that never quite turns off (great for anyone training to become a houseplant), and a social atmosphere where you'll meet people with stories that range from "hilariously unfortunate" to "I'm going to sit over here quietly." Would I return? Absolutely not--once was more than enough for this exclusive, all-inclusive stay. But if you're looking for a place that really forces you to reflect on your life choices, this is the spot. Two stars because I did, in fact, leave... eventually. read more

The staff and wannabe security officers provide absolutely NO help. All of them are RUDE and don't acknowledge people. They treat the people coming in like THEY committed a crime. A family member was detained and when we were led to this office for more information to find their location. EVERY person we spoke to did not provide any help or advice. "So and so got arrested and we are trying to find them" their response: "they're not here, you can leave now. ‍" until another person IN LINE who was looking for her family member directed us to this website. The staff didn't even bother to supply offer this information and we're very short with their ability to help. If you're looking for someone who has been arrested, please visit this website and it will provide active updates on their booking status, bail amount, magistration status, SID number, etc. it might take time for their information to be entered into the system but it's what helped us find our family member. We were informed of their arrest around 5-6 pm and their information came up around 10 pm posted on the website. Their bond amount was posted at 1 am. I hope this helps with anyone else looking for someone who has been arrested. The sheriff should be ashamed of herself! She is a retired 2 star general. I am a retired CPO. I was incarcerated for over six days. I suffer from PTSD, and a broken back resulting from my duty during the Vietnam war. I am on medications from the VA. I pleaded for my medications that fell on deaf ears. I went through severe withdrawal symptoms. They put me in detox due to my withdrawal symptoms. I was NEVER asked if I was a veteran. The place is filthy. The food gave me severe diarrhea. I quit eating and only slept a couple of hours a day. I started hallucinating thinking I was back in Vietnam. I could have easily killed someone. I am over 60 years old and placed in a jail with a bunch of gang bangers.The gang banger kept asking who I run with, lol. The sheriff should be ashamed of the way they treat veterans that served their country honorably. I can't wait for re-election. I will bring this incident to attention of every vet and VFW. Inhumane. Should be shut down by the federal government. One is treated as guilty before having their day in court. If one isn't careful, they might die in that jail, which happens all the time. An absolute abomination. The Sheriff should not have his job. That's why everyone needs to vote this coming election. In fact the whole Bexar County justice system needs complete reform. The experience of this place from my safe place has been a total nightmare. When I'm done with this place hope all can be resolved and lives stop being taken at the expense of another serve and protect officer. Honestly what and whom are you saving? Not even their selves. I just checked out of a4 month stay at this all but luxurious settlement, and just like most places, it had its ups and downs. They provide meals, recreation and 24 hour security , but at the same time they cage you up with career criminals who have killed, raped, robed, smuggled, pimped, etc. ., all in attempts to make you a better person. I'd honestly say your better off doing your criminal activity and getting caught doing so in any other county in america. They send you a letter to complete an action for an inmate, you bring the documents they ask for, you even call them prior, to double check the possibility of any issues!
