He said he fixed it, gave an invoice, asked me to call him if it continues to leak. All good so far, right? It started to leak at the same spot the next day. I had them back out again. In the middle of the visit, I go out to talk with them to find out what's up. He said he must of tightened something too tightly and caused a seal to break, and now it needs to be replaced. Not my fault, right? No, it's my fault. I had to buy a new part. Things happen, fine. I'm a little upset but I'll live. Now the pressure in my pool is high, and Jake advises a cleaning. I agree. He asks to use my chemical, the last of my Muriatic acid. I didn't like this at all, but he didn't give me a choice. Now I have to take time out of my day to go buy new chemical. During the filter cleaning, Jake and his help (Kevin) were constantly arguing back and forth. These remarks persisted through the entire visit, and was very unprofessional. They seemed like they were genuinely pissed off at one another. Here I am, now with invoices paid for both visits, and I don't feel good about it at all. There's too many pool repair companies for me to have to deal with the lack of professionalism during the call and additional charges for labor for things they admitted breaking. I guess I'll just have to deal with it, because Patten wouldn't offer to help me on the resulting bill at all. PS. I take that back, there's a .01 (penny) adjustment on my invoice. Seriously.

We DO NOT recommend Patten Pools or his new owner, Bill England. We hired them to replaster and fix…read moreour pool shortly after we bought our house in Grogan's Mill. I forwarded Bill the pool inspection report, and he emailed us a proposal stating what needed to be done, the job duration (7-10 days), and the cost ($6,348). We paid a 1/3 deposit. We told him we had never owned a pool before, and that we were not living in the house yet and would move to The Woodlands (from the East Coast) mid- to end-June. Patten's work was not good. Besides, despite our repeated requests, Bill was not always good at communicating and did not always show up when he said he would (once we paid someone to be at our property to give Bill access to the property, but Bill did not show up or call; after one hour of waiting we called and emailed Bill and he said he had a last minute emergency - but did not have the courtesy to call!). May and June rains delayed Bill's work. He called to ask if it was ok to start the work a couple of weeks later. We said ok (since we would move in mid-June). What he did not say was that the rains could ruin our pool and that we should get someone to take care of it until he could get to it. On June 11, we found a deep-green pool, and a pump with a huge leak problem at our new home. I called and emailed Paten; they sent someone who told us we would have to sandblast the flagstone. We got stuck paying an extra $1,500 to clean the now green-gunky flagstone - the same flagstone that two and a half weeks before had looked just fine, and that the rains and Patten's inattention and carelessness had contributed to turn green. (Bill could deny any wrongdoing by pointing out that it was OUR pool and our responsibility, and that we had only hired him to replaster it and repair it, and not to clean it, right? I ask, as a business owner, is it not appropriate to alert your customers of the risk that the rains may pose to their pool and the surrounding flagstone? Particularly to customers who have told you they have never owned a pool before and who are still on the East Coast?) A few days later, on June 24, his crew replastered our pool. They left a mess in our backyard. Two days later, I showed Bill the mess; he said someone would come clean it up. It took him a week and two reminders to clean it up - and not entirely. To this day, we have remains of plaster in our backyard. "The pump needs to run continuously for 72 hours", Bill wrote in his email instructions to us after he started the pool. But the pump suddenly stopped working the day after. We called him to tell him the pool pump had shut off, even though we had not come near it. He showed up at our house a few hours later, turned the pump on again, and explained that he had left the timer on because he was not wearing his prescription glasses the day before, and could not see well. His unapologetic tone was insulting. Patten's proposal included initial daily brushing of the pool, after replastering. Most pool experts recommend brushing once or twice a day for the first 14 days (we did not know this until a couple of weeks ago). We do not recall Patten's staff coming daily to brush our newly plastered pool; they may have come every other day or every three days, and only for a few days. Patten's proposal also included changing the GFCI, pool light bulbs and gaskets. That, in response to a problem identified in the pool inspection report we had given Bill. To this date, water condensation around the lights cause the GFCI to trip shortly after we turn them on. Patten did not address this problem - or perhaps the gaskets were improperly placed, who knows. We will have to pay another contractor to solve this problem. Bill's email instructions warned us "no swimming for one week". However, 3 weeks and $7,937.03 later, we still could not swim in our pool; and we were being charged extra for work that we understood was part of what we paid for. Also, Bill's email instructed us to "not put the cleaner in the pool for 2 weeks"; most pool experts (we later learned) warn against using wheeled devices within 28 days after replastering a pool because doing so sooner could cause wheel tracks to show on the pool finish. Someone from Patten put our Polaris cleaner in our pool on July 13, exactly 19 days from the date they started replastering our pool. On July 14, I went to Bill's office and left him a $6,026.03 check and a note saying we were less than satisfied with how the work was handled and the lack of communication. The next day I emailed him asking to not put salt in our pool (he said he would do so by July 17th, contradicting his own email instructions that said "no salt for 4 weeks"!). All we got was an email from him asking if we were switching to chlorine. No words from him since. One star b/c we texted him on 4 of July asking him what to do about the mosquito larvae and tadpoles breeding in our waterfall and he promptly replied (Clorox!).

His guys moved items of our personal property and didn't put them back upon completion and they got destroyed... We were blamed. Pool wasn't being fully cleaned, entire sections untouched, and when I tried asking for more thoroughness, we were blamed for failing to maintain equipment and called names and had our service cancelled. We cleaned the filters when recommended, we replaced parts as recommended, but try to get clarity on why you'd need to spend hundreds or thousand on parts that just passed their inspection recently and suddenly you're a problem. Aaron was so disproportionately aggressive and is not open to conversation. He wants absolute obedience to anything he wants you to buy, no questions asked, or he attacks your character. There are reviews elsewhere where he doxxed a client for having complaints, viciously verbally attacks customers who complained, and always says he has 30,000 clients with no complaints to everyone who complains... With less than 300 reviews total and places where ratings are as low as 3.9 stars. Not worth the trouble if you're just going to have to find someone else in 3 months when you inevitably face his childish and crazy behavior at the first issue.

The build itself went smoothly, but everything since then has been a nightmare. We have not been able to properly use our pool since early July (and even before then it was questionable at best). We have reached out multiple times--at least 4 times in the last month alone--about issues with the pressure and the pool not working correctly. Two people came out (one of them the owner himself), and nothing was fixed. We also requested a cleaning and were told someone would be sent, but no one ever showed. The owner's son came out a couple of times and half-heartedly looked things over. He never taught us how to check or run the system (which we were promised after our pool was built). When our landscaping and trees all died within a week of installation, I personally spoke to him several times for guidance and got zero follow-up. To make matters worse, we were told that our sand filters needed to be replaced--less than a year after installation, even though they are supposed to last 3-5 years. I have personally power-washed the filters multiple times trying to fix the pressure issue and even spent my own money buying four brand-new filters. At this point, the lack of professionalism, accountability, and follow-through from this company has been beyond frustrating. The construction was great, but the service and ongoing support have been absolutely terrible. We invested a lot of money into this pool and have been left with nothing but headaches and an unusable system. We are now looking elsewhere for service. Save yourself the frustration and get your pool serviced elsewhere.

I have to share my experience and tell you how disappointed I am in KC Arnold's unkept promises…read more He came to us with his bid and design for a pool in our new house's backyard in June of 2020 and promised the world. I suppose hearing his stories of the "big guys" and how you're just a number to them and how they sign you up only to quit working at the earliest forecast of rain, etc. worked on me. I believed him when he told us that we would be swimming before the summer ends. I believed him when he told us that he would be done within 5 weeks of starting our pool. I will give him this--he is a great salesman. He regaled us with tales of all of his previous pool work and showed us pictures of his happy customers. From the first time we met with him I responded to his energy--even when he had bad news about the schedule and summer began to slip away, we still believed in his enthusiasm for the pool. Unfortunately, he came up with excuse after excuse to put off the construction of our pool. Please understand that we were willing to cut him plenty of slack for the toll that COVID took on his sub-contractors' crews over the summer. But the only time KC ever took action is when we threatened to stop paying him. He told us that we were next in line for gunite for over 3 months. Amazingly, when we told him on a Friday that we were going to select another contractor, the load of gunite appeared the following Monday! He began digging the pool in early September, finally applying the gunite to create the inside of the pool in October. In late October my wife and KC discussed how small the deck area around the pool looked as compared to the design we had seen (in the bid, he promised 1,024 sq. ft. of concrete deck, but it was significantly less than that when he prepped the area around the pool). My wife told him, "If you can forward me the email that you sent regarding our final plans, and this is something we glanced over, then we will pay for half of the cost for additional concrete." Unfortunately, he never emailed us the "final design;" it was sent for the first time to us that night. We called and told him this, and he replied that he would pay for his mistake (!), but (speaking over us to his wife), "I'm not giving them a warranty or a spray deck...nothing! I'm done!" Then, he hung up the phone on us! He apologized the next week for his actions, and finally "finished" the pool on November 1 (which still wasn't totally finished, btw). He told me that if he didn't get his final payment the next day, then "you'll see me blow a gasket, and you don't want that." However, there were significant issues pointed out to me by more than one of the pool cleaning companies we interviewed that made me embarrassed to admit how much we paid for our pool from KC. For instance, he added a second pump for the water features which, I have since been told, was redundant for a smaller 16K gallon pool. (The single pump is enough to work for a pool twice our size, water features included). But because it pulls the dirty water from the bigger pump, it will require cleaning every 1-1 1/2 months instead of the normal 4-6 months that filters require to avoid mold. And it pads the bid for the pool contractor. Since getting a pool is such a significant investment (for us, anyway LOL), we don't like hearing other pool contractors making bids here in our neighborhood telling us that we should have paid significantly less than we did for what we got. KC charged us at least 20% more than other companies we have since seen. I know, I know, we signed the contract at the price we paid and can't change that now. But I can tell you that it shouldn't happen again to you now that you know what has happened to us. If I could go back in time, I would not have believed all of KC's promises...and likely saved some money, too.

We were looking for a smaller, unique-style "Plunge" pool that complemented our patio, which Your Texas Patio had worked on about a year ago. Michael and his crew were amazing throughout the entire process. They were easy-going, listened to our requests, and were very accommodating when we wanted to make adjustments to our plan. Indeed, we saw ourselves as partners in this build and ensured we read all materials and asked any question we had no matter small, no matter how many times! A few times during the installation, whenever we had questions or concerns, they were extremely responsive, both on the phone and in person. I have no problems at all HIGHLY recommending them for anyone looking to install a pool!
