We had Sandstone Pool Service replaster our pool in the summer of 2020, and it still looks great. They also added safety handrails for getting in and out of the pool and the spa, and they replaced the underwater lighting. We were happy with the price and quality of work. After they did the plaster job, we hired them to do the weekly service, and they have competitive pricing for that. They do a very good job, better than previous comanies did, and they clean out the diatomaceous filter every 6 months, as well as tell us when any kind of equipment repair is needed. After every cleaning, they send me a report by email with details of the pool chemistry plus a photo of how the pool looks, which is very helpful. Our pool was 12 years old and needed new plaster. We knew there were some leaks that needed identifying and taken care of as well. We received a number of bids for the plaster and felt that Sandstone (Al) gave us the best value for our money. We agreed to move forward and could not be happier. Al brought in Andy McCoy and team (A+ Leak Detection) to perform a leak test. Very reasonable price and leaks were found. Al gave us a price for taking care of the leaks and redoing stone work around the water fountain. Andy and team went WAY BEYOND to make sure everything looked great and leaks were gone. Take a look at the fountain and pictures. We upgraded the plaster to Quartzscape (blue) for a richer and deeper blue look. Once the plaster was completed and we were filling up the pool, a storm came through and blew in a lot of leaves and such. Combined with rain, the leaves and mess stained parts of the plaster. We called Al about the stains and he said he would take care of it. Technically, it was not his problem as the plaster was complete. Nevertheless, he sent guys out that literally got into the pool, found every stain, and removed them. There are things that the homeowner must take care of to ensure the plaster looks great and does not streak. Al made sure upfront that we were aware and what our responsibilities were. (I have heard of other people that did not fill the pool promptly or brush the sides as instructed and were displeased. That is their responsibility and not the pool company.) The pool looks great and we are very pleased. Al has someone coming out weekly for the first month, included in the price, to get the chemicals and water just right. The pictures show the pool after the first week. Al did a great job keeping us informed along the way. When we had questions, he called, texted, or stopped by within minutes. Regardless of the issue or concern, he made sure everything turned out great. Would I do it again with Sandstone and team? Absolutely. We thought we'd share how thrilled we are with the results of our swimming pool renovation by Sandstone Pool Service. After extensive research of a variety of plaster (resurface) only, pool remodel only and full service companies, we decided it would be best to use a local full-service pool company. Our logic was that we deal with one company who can handle anything that may need to be done, like water features, stonework, tiles, as well as experts regarding the pool equipment and cleaning. Albert at Sandstone was among the very first of several companies we met with, and he left us with a professional proposal. He was one of the few that followed up with us several times to make ensure we didn't have any questions left unanswered. After considering several different resurfacing options, we decided to go back with plaster since it served us so well for 18 years. It was an easy decision to have Sandstone do the job. As it turned out the day after our agreement was finalized, the stars aligned and Sandstone was able to get started quickly, instead of waiting a week or so. The next day a member of his team came by and quickly drained and prepped the pool for the new plaster. He worked very quickly and by the time he finished, our pool sure looked pretty scary! Since we had progress photos from when our pool was originally built, we thought it would be fun to take some more during this renovation. After a day or two, we got the call the pool was ready for the next step. The plastering team arrived and was in our backyard early in the day and began. The crew worked very quickly and efficiently. In just a few hours, we were refilling the pool! It looked every bit as gorgeous as it looked when it was new. The detailing of the plasterwork and the tile inlays look impeccable. Sadly, I HAVE to give you at LEAST a one. 100% Zero if I could!!! Now understand we live way out of town! Also, I personally took care of this pool for over 15 years.... So, they were extremely quick to answer the phone and get my service after I told them I have a rental property in Houston. Al Vandenberghe showed up almost 2 hours after he said he was going to. His elevator pitch sounds all good at first explained a couple things about getting it back up and running... okay cool cool... then he started service T_T :O OUCH!!! The technician came out a couple days later to perform the tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, adding chemicals and also to clean the filter and put it back together. Over 300 dollars gets ripped from my card... The pool was barely even cleaned (did you brush the walls? vacuum leaves??? empty skimmer?? What did you do?) the filters were completely disassembled laying on the floor, and they are claiming that ALL the DE filter elements need to be replaced. None of the DE filters were broken nor did they need a replacement! They are ALSO claiming that the top pressure valve was ALREADY broken off when they got there..... When it was working (AND ATTATCHED) 3 days ago when you were there last with us ....AL! They refused to even own up to their own mistakes and eventually argue with me about $18.63 part that YOUR technician clearly broke. The technician further decided that the pool needed more shock at 10ppm CHL so they added 8 more lbs... just to be safe!!! You forced my entire family to take off 3 days to come back to Houston to fix and repair YOUR mistakes. You are NOOOOT a trustworthy person, you are definitely a liar and now you refuse to refund my money so you are also a thief too! You came to my house broke/misplaced my pool and equipment charged me and left after trying to get another $600+ from me....See you in court homie!! Really wish I could give you a ZERO!! read more

I have been having a lot of trouble with the heater and the owner of sandstone pools told me that I purchased the pool equipment and now I was the owner and should call pentair and that he was not responsible. He can not answer any questions on the operation of the equipment and does not have a tech support person. I spent a lot of money with this company for pool plastering all new pumps , heater, and control panel with a 3 year warranty. I wish I had read all the google reviews prior to hiring for our complete pool remodel. Initially our experience was like the other 5 star reviewers. Unfortunately only a few months after completion we had similar experiences to the 1 star reviewers. Al was wonderful and responsive when we were writing the checks and leaving a 5 star review (at his urging). Less than 6 months after completion our Kool Deck started cracking bad. There are at least 3-4 big cracks exposing the old pea gravel and concrete along with some smaller cracks that will continue to grow. He blamed it on shifting concrete. Funny he never mentioned any potential problems when we were writing checks. Only how great their decks were--high quality, beautiful and durable. We will be paying someone else to repair their poor quality work. Additional concerns: 1. Our pool used to circulate beautifully. He said our pump was too powerful and sold us a smaller one. Now it barely circulates. When I voiced concerns he said it was fine. I have had 3 homes with pools. It is not fine. 2. We were told the new heater would heat the spa in less than an hour. It takes 4-6 hours 3. We were concerned about putting tile around raised areas of deck and spa. We told him we were afraid it would crack. He said it was very durable and never cracks. Guess what. It is cracked. Tile is on backorder. He asked where our extras were. They did not leave us any extras. You've Been Warned! read more

We fell for the cheap advertisement for Sandstone in a publication. You will NOT pay the price that Al advertises - it will be much higher. Additionally, Al, the owner verbally promised to do several tasks involved in acid washing our pool and starting it up, and refused to perform them. Turns out he left some of those necessary tasks out of the written contract and I didn't notice. When asked to do the items he agreed to on a handshake, he gave us an enormous attitude and finally said he'd do us a favor and would perform the tasks (he still never added the chemicals that he told us he did add). We had to get another pool company to come out to finish the startup process and they confirmed only chlorine had been added, which is useless without stabilizer, etc. BTW, the acid wash was subpar - there were several spots left in the plaster that were not acid washed properly. I spoke with a previous employee and he was sure negative reviews on variolous sites had somehow been deleted. In this person's experience very few people were happy after dealing with Al. If you still want to work with Al, please double and triple check the contract before choosing to proceed and make sure EVERY verbal deliverable is included, then make sure you have another pool company lined up to finish Al's work, read more

Had Sanstone refinish our pool, hot tub and deck. The pool finish cracked and the hot tub was blotchy. They refinished the pool and acid washed the hot tub and now they look different. The deck came out looking bad too with different colors over areas they patched. To top things off, when they finished they said they would do a pool start up and a free month of service. Neither ever happened and when I asked about it Albert told me to "Read the contract". Poor work, poor follow up. Don't use them. read more

We requested a quote from Sandstone to replace an old pool heater and put in a new pump timer with temperature sensor for freeze protection. We gave them the work, but they left the job without taking the old heater away, and they did not put in the new timer as quoted. At the same time, we had Sandstone re-plaster a pool at another house and it turned out to be really shoddy. When you turn on the pool light you can see footprints in the plaster, it's bad. Sandstone refused to correct either situation. I'm sure they do some jobs fairly well, but ours was not. Look for someone else. read more
