I went to Beyond Studio because they have lots of photos of people getting bright, vibrant colors. While I was able to get an appointment the next day, I was really disappointed with my color and actually had to have my stylist (Conny) redo the dye. The first time she dyed it, after bleaching, she left me sitting in the uncomfortable shampoo chair and the result was a weird light brown- I had asked for a dark reddish purple and provided example photographs. Sections of my hair looked like they hadn't even been dyed. While the second round of dyeing went better, I felt very uncomfortable as I had to complain to get that result- which was still not what I originally wanted. When I got home I realized they'd somehow left hair dye on my back, too... The salon was pretty small and quite loud. I had brought a book but it was taken from me when I was brought over to rinse out the bleach and never returned. I also had to remove my glasses for most of the process, which gave me a headache. I tried to politely get out of having my hair curled at the end but Conny insisted- I really don't like the curls she did and somehow during the drying process she got rid of all the volume on top of my head. read more

I Got my hair done today by Orlando and his amazing team, and I am so happy with how it turned out. Orlando is so great and experienced in what he does, he didn't just do my hair and tell me I had to keep coming back for maintenance like most places do just to keep making money, he actually let me know how I can maintain my hair color at home with products without having to return to the salon every couple weeks. He gave me all the products I needed and step by step instructions on what I needed to do. It's such a breath of fresh air going somewhere and knowing they truly want what's best for the client. It has been months since I've been at this salon, and my hair is still repairing from the damage Orlando caused. I came here in March wanting layers with shorter curtain bangs, and he gave me uneven, choppy layers and bangs that shouldn't even be considered bangs. They weren't even the same length or even blended into my hair. He used his thinning scissors wildly, changing my hair texture entirely. I had to go to another hair stylist to fix it, and she tried her best, but the best thing to do was just let it grow out. I didn't realize how badly he ruined my hair until I washed it because he covered up his mess by styling and curling my hair differently. Months later, my used-to-be thick, wavy hair is now thin and coarse. I would not recommend getting a haircut from Orlando to anyone. My haircut result was terrible and a total waste of money. read more

I had a haircut today. Not sure of the hair dressers name. I asked for my cut to be below the shoulders and that I would still be able to put it up for my workouts. She started to cut A LOT and I said, "it looks pretty short". So she said "No, it's good" then asked me if wanted it curled. I agreed and she covered up all of her mistakes with the curls. It looked beautiful when I left there. But now that I've washed it is uneven and VERY short. Not near below the shoulders and very uneven. I am very self conscious as it is and this does not help at all. I can't even fix it to make it look good. And I can't put it up during my workouts like I asked. I am very unhappy and embarrassed to go back to work on Wednesday because I don't have any idea how I will wear my hair to make it look nice. I don't recommend Beyond Studio. read more

This place was not good. I won't ever go back. They asked me to come in earlier than my originally scheduled time, which worked out for me that day. I had grown out balayage, and maybe two inches of dead/split ends. I booked an appointment for full highlight and a cut, which is the same time slot allocated for a balayage. I had some reference photos, and after talking to Orlando, I thought we had agreed that what I wanted was a balayage and not the highlight after all. I EMPHASIZED that I have to wear my hair up every day for work. He re-used these blue stained foam pieces instead of using fresh foils, which is gross. And had someone assist him by holding the ones on my head up as he applied them in no particular order. They were heavy and falling in my face and got bleach on my face. I have really thick hair that lifts quickly, so I'm used to washing out in sections so my hair doesn't fry, but Orlando walked off after the color was on and didn't even come to check how it was lifting until it was time to rinse. On to the rinse. Ouch. Between supporting the weight of all of that foam and the yanking and pulling of my hair to separate the highlighted sections, I was already a bit sore and had a headache, but the rinse only made it worse. The woman who rinsed me was nice, but used scalding hot water and was so rough and yanked through my hair as she rinsed it out. I was grateful when someone else took over for the toner. After all of that, we moved on to the cut. They blow-dried my hair to cut it dry. It felt dead and fried, and was very tangled as two people ripped through my hair to dry it faster? Once dry, we talked about cuts. I said I just wanted the dead and split ends off, and maybe a few LONG layers. I made the tragic mistake of saying out loud "it's hair, it'll grow back". There goes like five inches of my hair. Whatever, maybe it'll be healthier for it because of how fried it is. He wanted to curl my hair, and leave it curled because I had an event the following day, and I just said okay, yeah that's fine. In hindsight. This made zero sense. My hair is really thick and does NOT hold a curl. But guess what? Curls can hide a bad color job. On top of that. He doesn't know how to curl hair. He curled it all in the same direction. Either do both sides towards the face or away from the face (depending on the look you're going for) but not all in one direction. The color looked okay in the curls. It was lighter, and dimensional. So I thought it looked okay. Cue the hefty $280 price tag and huge tip because I'm a people pleaser and a pushover. Should have tipped $0 for the pounding headache and neck stiffness I had to endure the following few days alone. Fast forward to a few days later. It's brassy, uneven, and chunky, despite me using redken blonding shampoo and conditioner and blue violet mask to maintain cool tones. It looks like skunk stripe highlights when I put my hair up for work. I will not be back and I will have to find a good stylist to fix it for another $300. Biggest waste of money. 2 stars because the shampoo lady was really sweet (I forget her name), and also the salon itself is very clean, and they even serve drinks while you're being serviced. Good concept. Work on the technique and please fix your stylists shortcomings. read more

I'm updating this to say I'm getting my hair fixed right now by my ordinary stylist (I flew out to CA for business and was able to set up an appointment while I was there). Reminder I went to Orlando to get my hair touched up to blonde but he pushed baylage several times even when I said no and stayed firm on sticking with my blonde. My regulator stylist said - 1) he only dyed my front hair blonde and did not dye the Back blonde and left it black. 2) She fixed me hair and tsked when I said i requested one thing but didn't get what I paid for. I paid $200 to get something I didn't want and he pretty much did what he wanted. What a waste of money. Save your money and go somewhere else. I'm still salty about it. read more

Had a great experience at Beyond Studio. I have had a lot of bad experiences with salons and not being happy with the color results. I had an appointment with Orlando for an all over color. I have been box dying my hair for YEARS! I wanted an Ombré black in to purple. He explained to me that he will do his best to get my current color to lift, but it might take more than one appointment so that my hair wouldn't be damaged. Luckily after one round of bleach it lifted enough to do the purple. I am very pleased with the results and am absolutely in love with the color. I have definitely found my new salon! read more

I met with Orlando Tuesday. My hair was in a poor state after a stylist at another salon gave me the "Rachel from Friends haircut circa 1997". Prior to this appointment, I spoke with Orlando two times and sent pictures to him explaining how I wanted my hair cut and of course, asking for his expertise. I arrived at 3:00. Orlando and I consulted again and he formed a plan for my hair to get it back into a cut that would be attractive and more in keeping with what I wanted the other stylist to do in the first place (at the other salon...the Rachel cut, etc). After the cut, I received highlights and lowlights, followed by a toner. The final result was a very lovely style that is a happy medium while we wait for the short upper layers to grow. The striation and dimension in the highlights is gorgeous. Orlando is extremely professional and no nonsense. I highly recommend this salon and Orlando. I am extremely pleased! read more
