I couldn't be happier with our experience with David and College Zoom. Their program is like NO…read moreOTHER. They have created a system that truly helps the student organize his/her/their thoughts and ideas in order to put their best foot forward and create a college application that represents who the student is and what their achievements are. Both my children worked with College Zoom. My son is a very typical young man who had a hard time getting started with his applications, and College Zoom did an excellent job supporting him every step of the way. My daughter, on the other hand, was very motivated and College Zoom worked well with her enthusiasm and organization. I am happy to report that both kids got into their DREAM schools (USC and UC Berkeley) with College Zoom's help. David and College Zoom really understood each student's unique needs, and also helped this mom feel less worried!!

When I started the CZ program, my vision was that Yale and the Naval Academy were my unlikely 10% chance dreams, while I'd realistically have a 50% chance of landing at Purdue (which is still a great school nonetheless), and a 40% at a Vanderbilt or Northwestern-level school. When I got into the Naval Academy, I thought that would be it. And then came Yale, where at that point I applied to Harvard and Princeton more or less to put my name in the drawing hat. But to be standing here at the end of the journey, having gotten into all of these top universities as an engineering major, I truly never could've dreamed it at the beginning. It was only possible with CZ's help, between the hours and hours poured into the personal statement, supplementals, cutting and rewriting the activity sheet. They told me exactly how to fill out each section of my applications in the optimal way, while leaving ample room for me to represent myself through my own words. And when it came to college interviews - the part I was most nervous for - CZ provided me with ample practice and resources to gain the confidence I needed. I know that without their guidance and organization, I would've been lost in the process and fallen behind quickly. Before applications started, its college planning package helped me by pushing me to create a Passion Project in high school. I tended to be someone with strong academics and average extracurriculars, and this concept pushed me to lead impactfully within the computer science club at my school - which, looking back, was both very important to my applications and is something I value even beyond college admissions. As someone who tended to shy away from leadership activities like these, without CZ's encouragement for me to pursue them, I would've missed out on a lot of opportunities for self-development in high school so I am grateful for its guidance in this respect as well. All in all, CZ's straightforward and effective guidance, in conjunction with its reasonable cost, made it the best choice for me! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this organization to others. It's been awesome working with them, and I owe my success with the application cycle to them.

While my college bound son spent his Covid riddled gap year getting an advanced ski instructor certification in Europe, It was as if Paul was right by his side the whole semester through the entire application process. Paul offered countless hours of late nights and early mornings to ensure our son made it into the schools of his dreams. He's currently headed to the "3/2" program of Willamette in Oregon followed by USC or Columbia. Above all else we feel a sense of connection commitment and friendship with Paul. It's a no brainer. Whether it was helping me finish my UC application minutes before the midnight deadline or proctoring all eight of my exams at a moments notice. In the beginning of Senior year I was met with a crisis, for a variety of reasons I didn't have any math credit. I had to take geometry through AP Calculus BC in one school year, whilst applying to college and managing a full senior year course load. With that I needed to take eight separate proctored exams. Without the flexibility and commitment of Paul as a proctor, I can say definitively I wouldn't have completed this feat. However working together, I got it done. In about six months, I went from not graduating high school to being admitted to a number of top universities including UCSD, UCSB, University of Michigan, and NYU. Paul continually goes out of his way to do whatever he can to help you achieve your goals. Fundamentally, I believe what distinguishes Paul Nicholas is that he cares, and that certainly can't be taken for granted in this world. So thank you Paul, I will be eternally grateful.

But, it was challenging to evaluate that before committing to move forward with one firm. I'm sharing this review of Beth because she was exactly what I was looking for. In my admissions call, the admissions officer told me one of my application reviewers said they were hard-pressed to find anything wrong with my application. Beth made a significant impact on my application in two ways: (1) In all areas of the application, especially the essays, she maximized the portion of content that Kellogg admissions officers care about. Before working with Beth, I had iterated my essays several times and thought they were in a decent spot. After she reviewed, it turned out only a small fraction was content Kellogg admissions officers actually care about. We worked together to maximize the portion of the content admissions officers care about and pared down the rest. (2) While I had a high-level idea of what a good application looked like, I didn't have a crystal clear picture, and as a consequence, I found I would iterate on application components much more than necessary because I wanted to be sure they were as good as possible. Beth let me know when each one was in a good state so I could focus my time effectively, and that allowed me to put adequate effort into every portion of the application. There's nothing magic in those two items, which is why I recommend her so highly: I'm confident that her impact on my application is repeatable with any application. I could tell in working with her that she's evaluated thousands of Kellogg applications, and that makes her uniquely suited to advise in those two areas.

The SBC team works together to create a holistic experience. Bill took the time to understand my goals before pairing me with a consultant. Amy spent countless hours with me understanding what made me tick and helping me translate that into an application. Beth flight tested my application and made sure that there weren't any glaring holes, and Anthony helped me prep for my Wharton Team Based Discussion. By far the most valuable part of this process was having Amy by my side. No question was too trivial for her, and she had limitless patience with me as I obsessed over every detail of my application. Amy's most valuable contribution, however, was her ability to help me focus on the RIGHT details. It is easy to lose sight of what you are building as you write the applications from the ground up, and it can be particularly challenging not to write applications based on what you THINK the AdComms WANT to hear. Amy encouraged me to embrace my authentic voice, and ensured that I was telling a story that highlighted who I am as a human. Thanks to Amy and the SBC team I was admitted to FIVE MBA programs: GSB, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, and Stern (with a full ride).
