I have friends that i visit there. The place is old and deteriorating. Pool is awful. Not much to eat or buy at store. Pictures online dont tell the real story. Roads are bad. I visited the bnb and bugs everywhere. Smells like sewer gas. For the money it should be better. Playground equipment is old and dangerous in my opinion. Was not impressed with the large piles of rock right on front of my campsite. Site was marked off with cones and should not have been allowed to reserve online if site were restricted. Not DJ like stated. Also.... big kids jumping water trampoline wasn't there. Small one sufficed for this time. Dissapointed from last year. Pool still out of service and a Hazzard. Always have unsafe water or no water at all. Constantly getting emails stating water is unsafe or temporarily shutdown despite paying over 800 per month for lot with water and electricity included. Amenities are never available, broke, etc. Lots are uneven, deeply rooted. Water mains keep busting. Had to call fire department and police station because no contact information and office always closed. We have decided to move as many others and some have already left. read more

Gravel sites are not level so the tanks won't empty, rutted from rains, pool apparently being fixed for 3 summers, electricity and therefore water didn't work one morning so couldn't cook breakfast or use bathroom. They said we were able to light of fireworks and when we did we got kicked out they also tell us 7.5 mph in the golf cart but the carts have no speedometer so we just went as fast as the cart goes and proceeds to make us pack up and leave read more

Positive Feedback: Good Sam Discount. Good access to freeway. The Female Office staff was friendly & professional. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Gravel sites with pull through access & full hookups. Adequate space between sites. Good for a one or two night stay. Negative Feedback: Challenge to level due to the unevenness of the gravel site and to the site being on an incline. (We arrived during a heavy rain storm.) Nice campground that is close to the freeway. The gentleman who checked us in and also helped refill our propane was very nice. Nice store with reasonable prices. Ice cream, malts, shakes, etc. Pizza is available with a few pizza ovens to use. Nice selection of drinks and beer. Mostly permanent campers with some park homes. There is a large lake with a lot of ducks. Another lake/pond off to the other side is quite smelly. It's not fun to drive by and smells up the area in front of the store. Luckily we can't smell it from our site. Leveling was difficult. Camp Wood we bought at the store did not burn easily. Water was off for a bit one night. No one answered the "emergency" number so we left a message. We would probably stay here again...but would request a site closer to the swimming lake. read more

Pros: Soft Serve Ice Cream at the store FREE Foosball and Board Games Lots of trees around campgrounds Store items well priced Eggs/Bacon/Wood Store souvenirs also well priced Feeding the ducks at the lake by hand Bathrooms were always clean Pool was decent size and a deep end Golf Cart rental price Front desk staff were pleasant Cons: Bathrooms could use better ventilation Kids planned activities only on weekends Golf Carts creating duststorms onto campsites next to main traveled roads Rental Price of kids pedal cart compared to Golf Cart Ratio of "regulars" to "campers" Buildings could use paint touchups Pool should be ready at 10am not in process of cleaning with pool guy running ph tests and vaccum hoses while pool already open Some stuff I'd say is out of your hands like ratio of campers to regulars. Anything involving kids activities like rental of "pedal carts" should be lower then all adult activities including golf cart rentals. A proper price for this should be $13 a day not per hour. If anyone is reading this and thinking of renting the 2 seat pedal cart, you for one better be in tiptop shape. Going on flat road is fine but any incline and your legs will be on FIRE!!! My family booked in a 3 nite stay here, had been here before last year and year before. We had always enjoyed it but they sold to this company. They booked in a few weeks ago,the check in went smooth but saw the pool was not open and that they were not going to get it running. So be aware that there is no pool. When they tried to hook up the sewer pipe it ran up hill so that was a problem. Friday nite they closed the store at the campground at 5 pm lack of help was cited as reason. The shower house was disgusting dirty and limited water,push a button for 1 minute of water They are not going to return to this campground ever again and would advise others to be aware of the short commings of this campground. read more

This was our first an only camping experiences at a KOA just Terrible ! During the Covid (July 2020). I counted 46 people in the pool! The lake in front had ducks, geese etc and people swimming. Saw several places with loose dogs the RV's were on top of each other !!! No space and everyone had a fire!! But the BIG complaint. The sewer dump!!! Everyone had one an no one had a cover! They used a large rock an it smelled!! Very very unhealthy. This place takes takes money from the poorer people! They also let people use the pool for a day charge( from the near by town). Needs to reported to the health dept. Please save your money an your health! read more

First, as others have said, the hired help is very friendly and helpful. That's the only good thing I've got to say. There is an open sewage reservoir that they refer to as a lagoon and that stinks to high heaven every day. I don't see how it's even legal! There is no swimming pool - it' started, but that's it. The first space they put is in was 1) right on top of the sewage, and 2) too small for our rig. We finally found a spot and it fits our camper but not our truck. The lot is nowhere near level - not even close. Their literature claims that they have themed activities and hayrack rides. In our ten days here, I've seen no such thing. The laundry machines are constantly in need of repair. Not recommended. We will not be back. read more

Most recent stay was 6/30/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop style RV" only 15' long w/o toilet or shower and thus rely on campgrounds facilities ~ so our critique is focused in that area. One of our favorite overnight stops on I-80 E & W between OR and WI have been here several times, BUT is in need of some TLC ~ especially gravel roadway @ entrance (office) down the hill to the interior roads which are full of ruts ~ all they need is some new gravel. (the inner gravel roads are fine) Then there's the restroom/showers; a trip to local Home Depot in Iowa City for some paint, updated fixtures, new shower mats for the floor, new shower curtains, add hooks and shelving in the sink/vanity area for your things, and add paper towels that most campers would use to "clean up" (wipe down) their sink area after their use, but w/o them there's no way to do it and that area gets messy (They do clean the restrooms - but still - and grounds keeper is on site keeping things around camp tidy) There is little air movement inside even though there is a large fan/blower at the one end; it's not effective making it "stuffy" inside. So for all my suggested remarks my rating is still a 4 . . . because it's all related to improving conveniences since the rest of the park is very functional. Yes it's true some sites are on a small hill making leveling inconvenient, but you can always ask to move; after all this IS a campground and not billed as a 5 star resort with cement pads and patio's . . .after all. We will be back again and again. read more

Don't let the friendliness fool you. We have been seasonal for many years and when these guys bought it (Beyonder...stupid name) prices were jacked and it is no longer the fun, family experience. we didn't even get the pool! I would be surprised if the pool ever opens again with these yahoos. Take my advice and stay elsewhere. These people that think they are 'investors' are anything but that. This has the potential to be a really nice place but at the moment (June 2022) it's pretty run down. The gal that checked us in was friendly and helpful. We opted for a lake front site and I was glad we did as those seemed to be the only level sites. The bathrooms were not clean and the toilets clogged easily. The showers all drained to a central point and that was also clogged. The shower heads need to be replaced. The lake was nice has a Sandy beach and lots of water toys for kids to play on but there were a LOT of ducks who were also using the lake and with the amount of algae around the edge I wasn't going to get in. The swimming pool appears to be undergoing a renovation so it wasn't available. On the plus side it is easy access from the interstate but not so close that the noise is an issue read more

Easy check in, the lady was nice and helpful. Very scenic with a nice small lake. The grounds are well kept and everything is pretty clean considering the long holiday week end just ended. Right off I 80 so it is a bit noisy but really convenient if you are traveling. We were only here for one night but would stay here again if we are ever out this way again. read more

Stayed in cabins that are pretty much tool sheds with 2x4 bunks. They say water to cabins but thats not true theres faucets outside you have to walk to the bathrooms.Door on our toolshed had no working lock. The bathrooms never had toilet paper. We stayed in one toolshed our daughter in another they quoted us $75 night which is far to much. When we checked in couldn't get it right in the computer. We paid what they said. 3 weeks later my daughter got charged a chunk off her bank account making it $209 for a two night stay she could have gotten a pretty nice hotel room with bathroom facilities for that. Watch your bank accounts if you stay here they'll just charge your bank random charges. Campers beware!!! read more

This campground claims to be "family friendly" and during the day is but what I wish I had known before we camped here recently is that the seasonal campers run the place with their extremely loud, obnoxious and UN-FAMILY words! Not to mention the speeding golf carts. We stayed here over Memorial weekend with a small group of friends. The Campground had just opened and was under the Covid-19 rules. However, they maxed out every camping spot, which most are all right on top of each other crammed in the sites, and the pool was not opened but they charged everyone the full amount. They also charge $5 per day for more than one vehicle for your campsite. I could see where this campground has potential. Their "family friendly" motto for the most part was. There were plenty of kids activities to do and there is a small store with most of all your camping needs met if you forget or run out. They also sell ice cream. They had organized kids activities on the weekend along with a golf cart parade and a band over the weekend. There is a nice sized pond to fish in. (no fishing license needed), a very small beach area and of course the small pool. The shower house was fairly clean for a busy weekend and there is a laundry mat on site. So it is great for activities and amenities. However, there is a large group of seasonal campers that all know each other and party together. Every night they had an extremely loud and obnoxious drunk fest, dropping the "F" bombs every few seconds into the wee hours of morning. Screaming and yelling, loud music and loud trucks. (Mind you theses same adults have their own kids out there that are being subjected to this kind of behavior). The first night my husband walked over to the site to get the number and was hoping to talk to them but one of the drunk guys threatened beat him up for just walking by with a flash light and got very confrontational. I talked to the office the next morning they acted like they didn't know who they were but I later found out they are there every year. She said they "patrol" at night and to call them if there were any problems again. Well the next night they moved the party to a few more spots down. Just as loud and obnoxious. There were other campers yelling at them to shut up! No one "patrolled" at night that I could tell! The third night they moved the party again to another spot. It was midnight and I had finally had enough. I called and told them that this was 3 nights of no sleep and I couldn't believe they would allow this. The quiet time was 10:00 PM and they were being disrespectful to all the other non-seasonal paying guests. She said she agreed and was going to talk to the owners. She did stop the party, FINALLY! We should have gotten our money back for 3 nights of no sleep! Needless to say we will not be back. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting friends in the area. Friendly management but this place does not have a level site, unless all the long-timers have them. In spite of using all our jacks we never did get level. Bathrooms need some serious updating. Come on, spend a little money on the basics. She didn't provide us with any help and barely waved us off in the direction of our site. She was mean! Place is maybe 200 feet from the train tracks and corn processing industrial silos. We stayed for 2 nights. Initially, we were very put-off about the sites because the roads are tight and difficult to navigate (gravel with ruts), and the sites are far from level. We use the Andersen leveling system that maxes out at 4 1/2". It was maxed out, and our 5th wheel was still not exactly level but close enough to work. Our site was situated on the hill, so the picnic table was on an incline, and the last step out of our RV was a big one. Our kids were also unimpressed with the playground equipment. Now, with all that being said, we LOVED our stay at Sleepy Hollow! The kids fished their hearts out in the lake/pond and caught tons of sunfish and a couple of bullheads. Other kids caught catfish nearby. They also fed the ducks and got to see a mother duck sitting on her eggs. We swam in the pool, and the kids loved family movie night in the picnic shelter. The little store where you check in has a good variety of necessities, plus ice cream, a slush machine, and local wines. There were coordinated games and activities, and they have themed weekends throughout the season. There are also recumbent bikes and golf carts for rent. The atmosphere was so family-friendly and inviting, and the owners were friendly. When it came time to pack up and leave, none of us wanted to go. It was certainly a change from our first impression. Needless to say, we will be back again in the future! read more

I was here about two years ago in July and I loved it. It's surrounded by a cornfield pretty much. Public bathroom were pretty clean. Best of all the tents sites were pretty in expensive. Keep in mind you will most likely see all your neighbors at your "individual" site. Not a whole lot of privacy . read more

Nice campground. We were first given rv spot#50 which is one of the worst spots we have seen in a campground. Not level and how does one expect sewer hose to be connected in this spot? Especially with sewer opening up hill. We asked for another spot that was nice and level - #45. This place is worried about their pockets and not the people staying. The owner insisted my adult sister pay $5 to sleep in my camper that I was paying over $35/night to stay in plus an additional $5 to park her car. Meanwhile their are kids well under the age of 14 flying around on golf carts, nearly hitting my 3 year old and I. Quiet time starts at 10 pm and all golf carts are to be parked at 10. A band hired by the owners played until almost 1030 and then the golf carts scattered. She picks and chooses who has to follow her obscene rules. I've never been to a campground that required people to pay to sleep in a camper that is already paying for the spot. She walks around and tickets cars without passes but doesn't enforce young kids driving golf carts recklessly and parking in the grass. She said the money is used to gravel spots each week, there is hardly any gravel there. The front entry is going to pop a tire. I'd like to see where all this money is going because it certainly isn't going to better the campground. read more
