The view at this park is breathtaking. There are cool trails and a nice place to bike. I like coming here with out of town friends, have picnics and relax. It's on the teeny side and is really meant as more of a neighborhood place to bring kids and maybe have a picnic lunch as they play. False advertising! There was definitely no crack here. Just a cool cat named Ajax who wanted pets and cuddles. Seriously, give the cat some pets and a drink of water and visit his Instagram page. This is yet another hidden gem in Seattle that has a great view of downtown and Lake Union. It's pretty small and not crowded at all so you can have enjoy the view lost in your thoughts, watch the sunset with your significant other, or in my case, pet the cat while you wait for the sun to go down and then take some night photos. All in all, it was a great experience. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how I even got up here. I came from 99 and then just followed google's directions and apparently there are all these secret steps that may or may not cut through private property and after a bit of a hike I made it up the winding hill. It's a lot easier to just drive there because if you plan on walking back down after dark, you'll need a flashlight! read more

First, how to get here. You can either park in the residential roads and walk to the viewpoint within 2 minutes or use the address given here. It'll take you to a dead end. Find parking and on the left side near the sign, there's a trail. Follow it up and it'll take you directly to the little spot. This place is Another hidden gem! I've been here twice and it's never crowded. It's a lowkey and small place. It has about 3 benches, 1 garbage can and a spectacular view. The view is similar to Kerry Park but there are trees kind of in the way. There were some people walking by but most of them were people who lives in the neighborhood. It's a quiet place to relax and think. One advice though, dress very warm. Everytime I come here, I just never seem to dress warm enough. Wear a jacket. For me, a sweater and a raincoat jacket wasn't enough. Enjoy! read more

Bhy Kracke park is a nice small park with a super view of the north part of downtown Seattle and the west side of Capitol Hill. Especially at night, it's a great viewpoint to take folks to see the beauty of the Seattle skyline. In addition, because can be mispronounced to sound like you are buying hard drugs, it makes for many a witty response as you plan your visit. There is a little seating there, and some paths and grass, but this is on the side of a hill so the area isn't well suited to playing games. There is very little parking, although the street nearby often has spaces. It is also a pleasant walk from many parts of Upper Queen Anne. The park appears in lots of lists of "great places to see the 4th July fireworks". From photos, it is clear that the fireworks used to be on a barge that is near the south end of the lake (near Daniels and MOHAI). However, this is no longer true. In 2019, the fireworks were close to gasworks park. That makes them completely invisible from Bhy Kracke park. Not even slightly visible. There are places a short walk away from which you can see a bit, but this park is not a good place to celebrate the 4th July. You have been warned. I was embarrassed that we had taken our out of town guests there. Still, great park any night except 4th July. Highly recommended. read more

Another one of those hidden gems that Seattle has to offer, that you would never find if you don't look hard enough. Bhy Kracke Park is tucked away on the east side of Queen Anne and just a short drive from Kerry Park. At first when you pull up you might think its a private driveway, but it is shared with the surrounding homes. The park itself is small and very little parking up top, but the views of South Lake Union and Seattle are absolutely stunning!!!! There are two sections of the park, the upper main viewing point and the lower portion with a kids playground and street parking. In between both sections is a nice trail to walk and enjoy the nature aspect the park has to offer. I highly recommend this park to anyone that has friends coming in from out of town or if you are looking for a new park to take great pics. read more

I first heard this advertised as a great park to drink a 40. I've definitely never done THAT there, but I did enjoy the view and the walk. People seemed friendly walking and jogging by. This is one of the more interesting little parks in Seattle. It is a gorgeous little gem of a park that is clinging onto the edge of basically... a cliff. Located high on a bluff overlooking the city, it boasts a breathtaking panoramic view of different parts of Seattle. Because the park is small and steep, there isn't a ton of parking, so you might want to park down the street and walk over to it. When you walk up to the park, you'll notice that it's a tad awkwardly situated and butts up against a few residential homes, and the people in the homes are about five steps away from the park. Speaking of butts, my group was laughing pretty hard when we saw someone sunbathing with her bottoms partially down, and it made us truly appreciate the name Bhy Kracke. Great park! Love it! I started loving it because it is directly across the street from me and my one-BR apartment, so it's functionally like having a front yard. But then I noticed that it isn't just a tiny urban pocket park at the bottom of a steep declivity - it's actually three parks in one! Super keen! Park One: the bottom bit, across the street from my place, with a patch of lawn, a picnic table under a wisteria-covered pergola, and a swingset and a climby thing for sprogs. Park Two: All the way up at the top of the hill, off a dead-end lane called Comstock Place, is another bit of the same park. (Don't look for it on Yahoo maps, BTW. It ain't there.) The top bit is a nice stretch of lawn, a few benches, and a water fountain. I finally discovered that I can reach by toiling up a switchabck cut into the hill, and boy, is it worth it! The view up here is GLORIOUS. And you''ll rarely have to share. There are never more than 2 or 3 people around. Park Three: A series of cunning little mini-meadows, tucked into the side of the hill along the path up to the top of the park. I don't know whose idea this was, but boy was it a good one. Bring a blanket and a thermos and some sandwiches, and these are perfect little secluded picnic parks. Two caveats. One: Dogs. There are a few folks in the neighborhood who don't seem to be able to read the perfectly plain English sign indicating that dogs should NOT BE OFF THE LEASH. I'm just sayin'. You may love Muffie or Bowser, but no one loves the poops you surreptiously leave behind. Two: This is a crap place to view the fireworks. Both of the big sets are almost invisible from the park. Last night we could see about the top 1/4 quadrant of just the biggest explosions in either direction. So there was a mass exodus down the hill - about 75 people leaving with their kids and blankets to find someplace where we could actually SEE. I ended up down the hill (counter-intuitively) at the corner of 5th Avenue N. and Lee Street, where the view was fine. read more

If you've been to Kerry Park in Seattle and you like to take photos of Seattle Skyline, go to this park. It's a bit tricky to get here as the road is a dead end and it's at a residential area. Parking is scarce, so walking down is preferred and park on the big street before the turn. The view from here is slightly different than Kerry park, as the skyline is more towards to your right. Space Needle is on your far right, while in Kerry Park, the space needle is the main focal point of the skyline to your left. It's really gorgeous if there's no clouds lingering by. I love it! Totally recommended this since Kerry Park is usually much more crowded and this place is just less than 2 miles away from there. read more

The name, right? I don't even have to say anything. This park unfolds down an unassuming patch of hillside, nestled in between quiet houses, a path winding down to its shady green tiers. The views are stunning, with Lake Union and the cityscape spread before you, the Space Needle piercing up through the panorama. It's a very peaceful spot, with songbirds in the shrubbery and sailboats scudding across the surface of the lake, a dog or two bounding about the grass. It seems the perfect place to unwind with a bottle of wine and some treats - in fact, this was our spot of choice to devour our trophies from Chocolopolis. The very bottom of the park - the final level - has a playground and some open grass that you'd never even see from the top. Forget the giggle-inducing name - Bhy Kracke is a hidden gem worthy of exploration. read more

So yesterday, my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to have a late night picnic. "Kerry Park?" he suggested, and I just wrinkled my nose in annoyance. Sure, Kerry Park's got an amazing view at night, but when it comes down to it... how many times have I seen that view? Like a million bajillion times, on postcards, on calendars, in every darn photo of Seattle, and at least ten times in the past six months, since we tend to wander up there. Anyway, I hit up Yelp in the hopes that I'd find something different, and I did! The name (Buy Crack? Really?) made me laugh, initially, but the reviews were promising. And the view from Bhy Kracke Park was gorgeous. I might be wrong in thinking this, but from the top of this park, there's much more of a panoramic view the city than Kerry Park. As in, you have a wider horizon to look at... you can see Lake Union and Capital Hill... and everything was perfect. I loved it. I can't wait to go there during the day for the playground, too! Walking up the windy path when it was dark was kind of sketch, but that was mostly because I'd never been there before. I have Mark to thank for introducing me to this park. Bhy Kracke is like Kerry Park's quieter, more mysterious, more natural twin sibling. Tucked away in a residential Queen Anne hill street, Bhy Kracke (which sounds a lot like bike rack and buy crack, but is really pronounced by crikey, apparently) looks like a small playground at first glance. There are two paths leading up to the top of the hill, providing a great lookout point of the Seattle skyline. Unlike Kerry Park, Bhy Kracke seems to be much less well known (I had lived in Seattle for over 10 years when someone mentioned it to me). You won't see throngs of tourists posing for pictures or kids taking selfies before going to prom. Why? Probably because the view of our lovely Seattle skyline from here is slightly obstructed by trees (see my point about this park being more natural?). The paths to the top of the hill are covered in weed-like plants (signs in the area indicate they're in the process of cleaning up the overgrown local plants that invade the pathways). In addition to the lookout point and the playground, there are lots of little nooks within the park. It can be quite romantic and serene, and on the flipside, also a little creepy and deserted at night. You'll find plenty of parking around the area, but I think I still prefer Kerry Park. read more

I worked in Pioneer Square for numerous years and always thought the Seattle Parks Department should of took the name of this park and switched it out for Occidental park instead. (for those who work or live in Pioneer Square this makes total sense. Some days when you visit you might be the only person here and feel like you have your own personal haven. Beautiful park. The flowering trees there this time of year are magical. For a picnic, there's a table or lots of grassy areas. The playground here looks like a ton of fun. It was soaked by dew when we went, or my toddler would have been able to confirm. There was a drinking fountain, but no bathrooms (in case that's important to you in a park). I love that this park is the hidden local park. It has a beautiful view of South Lake Union and the I-5 if you're into watching traffic while wandering aimlessly in the morning. You can see a lot of couples walking by or people sipping on coffee while the pup is rolling in the grass. You can catch a glimpse of the space needle without dealing with all the tourists. There's a kids' playground at the bottom of the park. The top part has maybe 2 or 3 parking spots, but I'm sure you can find parking along the street as well. read more
