I needed to get some repair done on my bike and based on the Yelp reviews, I decided to give Bicycle Spot a try. Got there right at 10am when they open and there was plenty of parking in front of the store. I had a crank arm of my bike break....so I took the broken part to the store and they said, sure, we can fix this. They got me a new crank arm in minutes and after just $22 for parts and labor, I was off in less than 10 minutes. Good, efficient, affordable. This was a great experience. read more

What a pleasant surprise to find them in a bicycle crisis right down the road from me!! They did such an AWESOME job with my rear tire that I sorta got in a fight with my presto valve while pumping it on a local ride the day before Thanksgiving ‍‍ I called to explain and they said they were open and replaced the inner tube, replaced the valve AND replaced my odometer battery all for $22.50 and I was so pleased I tipped them and paid $30!! This guy repairs any bike - 5 years old or 50 - (I've had both) perfectly and in no time. He knows what he is doing. Out of convenience, I went to 2 other places 3 x a few years ago. Those repairs did not hold at all. That was dangerous and it scared the hell out of me because with one: the repairs giving in just as I was approaching an intersection fast... My experience with the Bike Spot was spot on! I was a walk in with two thrashed tires / tubes from my Mobo Triton recumbent bike. The factory tires that came with my Mobo Triton lasted exactly 10 days (20 miles of tame asphalt / sidewalk riding). To Mobo Triton's credit they did send replacement tires and tubes but they were still inferior quality. I went into the Bike Spot and Peyton mounted the two new inferior quality tires / tubes for a phenomenally reasonable price and ordered (at my request) two heavy duty tires that will last a lot longer than the tires that came with my recumbent bike. Peyton advised me that he will call when my special order tires arrive and he will mount them for me. In this day and age it is refreshing to see customer service like Peyton provided and even shocking that the price for his services was beyond reasonable. I'm an avid rider, but since I left the downtown area I've been having a hard time riding the local streets of Oakland Park. After experiencing 4 flats in a week, I knew it was time to get more durable tires so I went to see these guys. The recommendation was perfect and they were able to take care of my bicycle in less than 15 mins. I rolled out of the shop with new tires and a few more things I knew I was gonna need later on, such as cartoons of compressed air and some replacement tubes. Prices are a bit higher than other spots, but you can justify it with the excellent service provided by them. This is definitely Chok and Roll approved. read more

Been using these guys for years. They were always polite and very fair on prices. Any time I had an issue with a repair ( not often) they immediately resolved it with a smile. Recently I brought my bike in for some broken spokes ( I had left it locked up in my atrium and somebody stole the entire front wheel). They had sold me the wheel and tire some time ago ( probably pre-pandemic). I told him I was disappointed that it failed so quickly. Just got a call to pick it up and when I asked how much, he said 'no charge'!! He told his supplier that it was unacceptable for the wheels to fail this quickly and received a credit ( which he passed on to me). They changed the price three times and said they could have it done in a few hours when I called but when I brought it in, they said the next day. My friend recommended this place. I've been riding in Broward since 1986 and have worked with a lot of bike shops, but I've never encountered a less professional shop than Bike Spot located at 5074 N. Dixie Hwy. I brought my beloved vintage Raleigh to them for a tune up and to have some new parts (that I provided) installed. They had the bike for over 2 weeks and no work was performed during that period. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I never received a single phone call or text from them to provide updates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can't contact the shop because they rarely pick up the phone and you can't leave a message because their voice mail is perpetually full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up just picking up my bike and had another shop perform the work. In addition, when I picked up my bike from Bike Spot, my bike had several other bikes carelessly stacked up against it. Do yourself a favor and find yourself another bike shop. A good shop will usually have your bike back to you in a few days, will call you with updates and store your bike in a safe and secure location. read more

Well I tried to get my bike repaired here. Very simple, just needed new brake and shifter cables for new handlebars. Said the bike would be ready on Saturday. No call or follow up. Called on Monday and said they hadn't started on it. Said it would be done that afternoon or Tuesday. Came by today (Tuesday) and it's still not done. Owner said I should have come by at 6pm and it would be done. I guess customers are supposed to be psychic in addition to being flexible when they don't deliver as promised. I started to write a review for Bicycle Spot years ago. I have been a in a few times since and the opinion and gone this way and that. In general, a passable bike shop with a heart. Bike shops do have a high standard though as most bike shops have good friendly bike people working there. I have met nice folks here and fairly helpful. The last couple times I don't think I got the main people, but maybe some new people off the street that weren't really bike lovers. Yesterday I popped in and ask for a bike accessory, bike light batteries and energy gel. Well they didn't have the part, according the guy they didn't carry and energy gels, much less the specific one I was looking for, and for a capper, the batteries were twice as much as they shoulda been. The employee basically told me as much, and advised me that they passed credit card machine costs on to the consumer too("they all do it" he said.). At that point I put back the batteries and said have a nice day. Luckily we have a lot of bike shops in Broward, so I felt confident I could do better elsewhere. I did. read more

These guys are amazing. I had just moved to Fort Lauderdale and one of my bikes didn't survive the move so well. I brought it to this shop with some of the pieces in my hand and others on the bike but I knew they were not in the right place. I couldn't believe how quickly he looked it over, saw the pieces that were there and those that were not and said he'd have it back the next day. This was in the afternoon. The next morning he called to say the bike was ready. I went to pick it up and was a bit trepidatious, since I had not asked how much this was going to cost. I was floored when he told me the cost. He had put the bike back together and given it a thorough routine maintenance and charged less than half of what I had expected. These guys are all very friendly, they do great work at a decent price and fast. I can't think of any reason not to give this place five stars and all of my future business. read more

Made the mistake of buying a bicycle from Walmart online. When it arrived, it was not rideable. The exchange process was ridiculous so I googled bike shops near me. I went in this store to get some caged bearings for the crankshaft on my bike. The attendant was not only helpful, but went through the trouble of explaining exactly how to install the bearings. Very nice, courteous people. The helpfulness was especially appreciated since I had had a terrible experience @ downtown bicycles in on Sunrise blvd. The owner of downtown bicycles, who's name is "derek" actually came out to try to fight me after I left the store! I came to Bicycle Spot, right afterward, and the attendant was the polar opposite. I went into the shop today looking for bike rims for a project. The guy in the back said he did not have any at the moment but would call me if he got some in. I was willing to layout a few bucks for rims that were going into the trash bin. But then I asked for a specific type of grip. My hands go numb. I purchased Ergon grips for one bike and wanted to get something similar for the Mt. Bike. But I need grips that are small because the bike has gears on both side of the handle bar. The fellow behind the desk told me that I need to lower my seat, not grip the handle bars so tightly or put pressure on the grips. He kept talking over me. If he knew what he was talking about it might have been okay but he really didn't. And what difference did it make to him if I was willing to make a purchase and have them put the grips on the bike. But no he kept wanting to argue with me. When I said I was trying to give them some business he told me flat out, "I don't care." It was then I mentioned him he needed to take a customer service class with Dale Carnegie and that it was obvious he did not pay the rent on the store. Customer 101... be good to the customer who wants to spend money in your shop. At this point I would not care if the bike rims were free. I would never ever go back to that shop again.
