Our visit to Biddle Ranch could have easily earned a five star review. The venue is nice and the wine was pretty good. Why 3 stars instead of 5 or even 4? Service! Our group have easily visited 250+ wineries and many of those we visited several times. We easily qualify as experts in the area of wine tasting. Based on our visit to Biddle Ranch as well as reviews I read the venue does not put an emphasis on hospitality. Our server (not educator) was nice but she seems to not care. Not care about selling wine, promoting or educating us about their wine and frankly or likes or dislikes. This behavior was repeated with other customers she was serving that day. If we are having a great time we reciprocate with numerous wine purchases and a generous tip. We only purchased the minimum to wave our tasting fees and could only justify the very minimum of gratuity. I truly hope management reads this post and invests time in better training their employees. We are in the area often and would love to have a spot to sip some wine before dinner. This place was okay. Make sure to make a reservation if you decide to go, we got there and though there were plenty of seats available, they said that those were reserved (the seats remained empty for our whole visit). One good thing about this place was the wine was good and although the other staff wasn't very friendly, our waitress was really nice and did a great job at explaining the different wines. We ordered the classic flight and i'd say it was worth it. The one thing I was disappointed on was this $30 charcuterie board that was placed in a meal prep container. The least you could do is place the items on a small plate. Not a terrible experience but I'd definitely look for other alternatives on my next visit. read more

Came here on a Monday morning of all days, during the Veteran's Day holiday weekend, when they had opened. The grounds here are very quaint, with a nice entryway of olive trees and a fountain. The concrete and modernish building and its outside patios are very cleanly kept. We sat outside at comfortable seating with some shade from trees. Our server was welcoming and friendly. She also was accommodating for one in our party who wasn't a Pinot fan. Their main wines consisted of Chardonnay and Pinot, with a few offsite vineyards used for Cabernet Sauvignon. I enjoyed their wines, though found them a bit pricy, even comparing to the more pricier Napa region that we more often frequent. That said, we came away with a few bottles. Being more local to Napa, we prob trended toward the more robust reds (charlatans!), so definitely liked the Akubra which was a bit off menu. Still, as a novice Pinot person and more of a reds guy, I still enjoyed their chard and Pinot enough to have them hold their own. We were recommended the place from a local, and didn't get a chance to hit many of the Edna Valley wineries on this particular trip, but felt satisfied in visiting this one before we set out for lunch. We had a lovely wine tasting experience here. Reservations are recommended, but we were able to make one pretty last minute on a weekend in July. $25 a flight, waived with 2 bottle purchase. I enjoyed the whole flight. I loved the outdoor area. There's so many wineries to choose from in this area, but I did think this one stood out with all the beautiful olive trees providing shade. It felt comfortable even on a hot day. (they don't have heat lamps for colder weather though). They do have indoor tasting area, but it is standing only. They are dog and kid friendly. They offer a charcuterie board as well which we didn't get to try. This is a very relaxed winery to go taste at. We were with a larger group and sat outside. Our server was clearly a little inexperienced. Didn't bother me as I just taste socially, but to those who wine tasting is more of an art might have been disappointed. Their wines tasted good. My wife and I made our first visit yesterday afternoon after hearing great things from out network locally and online. This place definitely met all the marks. Absolutely gorgeous property/grounds, really friendly/welcoming staff, and a very nice balanced tasting menu of whites and reds. Very nice ambiance! Outdoor seating venue was beautiful and well kept. Full of comfortable and plush seats this tasting experience is definitely luxurious and a tranquil time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The landscape is full of olive trees and of course vineyards absolutely breathtaking. Our party of 4 made reservations for a saturday afternoon roughly a week in advance. Since we had a friend from out of town join us we ran a bit late but the staff was able to accommodated us, and start out tasting a bit later. The website told us outside foods/snacks were allowed which is always nice. Of course our party came well prepared with a whole line up of pretty snacks and treats! Definitely worth the trip to trader joes and making a beautiful spread. The tasting experience itself came with 5 wines, 2 whites and 3 reds with the Chardonnay coming from the grapes grown on site. Our tasting came i at $25 which I believe is becoming the new norm for tastings in SLO. Another fun aspect was the Pinot Grigio served at Biddle Ranch is in collaboration with a local non profit in SLO, talk about supporting the right businesses! For each wine our server came to introduce the history and flavor profile and gave us a pour. I really enjoyed this presentation over having the whole tasting menu set up upon being seated. Very well paced and informative. Overall, I had a great time, each tasting was unique and quite tasty. Very light and fruity flavors. We made reservations to go to this winery as we haven't been there previously. Ian was our server, and he was excellent very friendly and informative. We tasted five wines and my husband switched out one of the Whites for Syrah, which we ended up liking the best. The $25 tasting is waived if you buy two bottles which we did. I also like their Pinot Grigio and even their Chardonnay and I'm usually not a Chardonnay person. Definitely will go back. read more

$20 wine tasting. That is regular pricing in these areas speacially it being wine country out here. The chepest bottle they have is $25 and they can go up to $60-$65. As for the service:it was great. Absolutely no complaints there. The wine itself: it was pretty good. I'm not a huge wine snob but, my colleagues loved it and but some wine to take home. The facility is great as well. Makes for some great pictures near the vineyards. There's plenty of room to sit dofferent size parties and i saw some people bring outside food to eat with their wine. Definitely would consider returning although there is so many vineyards around so maybe I'll try other ones before doing so. Stopped by on our way to Edna Vineyards. Walked in and were seated on the outdoor patio area. Very nice location and feel. Service was great and the woman pouring for us seemed to know her stuff. We ultimately took a bottle of Evviva home with us, mainly because they waived the tasting fee and the wine was decent but it was more of an impulse buy and I wouldn't do it again. My friends were visiting from out of town for the week-end and we spontaneously decided to do some wine-tasting in our neck of the woods. Heading towards Edna Valley we stumbled upon Biddle Ranch Vineyard. Very glad we did. The hostess told us that the vineyard just opened up last November. The grounds are very beautiful. Simple, clean, and very modern. As my friend put it, "It looks like something straight out of Pinterest." I tend to agree, in a good way. In my opinion, the best part is the view of Edna valley from the outdoor seating. Gorgeous, wide open spaces. It makes you feel small and lets everyday stress just melt away. I would definitely bring friends here to enjoy a picnic or just for tasting. For tastings, they have a 6 wine flight for $15 per person. Fee is waived with 3+ bottles purchase. The staff was very pleasant and happily told us a bit about each wine with the pours. As far as the wines go, I was not a huge fan of their whites. I found them very acidic- hence the 4 stars. I did, however, enjoy the reds and their wonderful aromas. I would recommend this space for small groups. I think it works best as an intimate setting. read more

Visited this winery on July 7th, Friday afternoon. Made reservations, but we made it early and they let us come in, since it was a quiet, not too busy afternoon. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our server Haley is a very knowledgeable young lady, answered all of our questions. We ended up sharing a flight and purchasing two bottles. Corked one and had a glass of that right there. We also brought in our own charcuterie to enjoy the wine with. The weather was so beautiful that day, they had plenty of seats outside under the olive trees, with view of the vineyard and surrounding hills. I could easily spend the whole afternoon right there! I'm a huge fan of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. So much so that it's the only wine I drink (unless someone offers me free wine, then it's game on!) I was enticed to stop at Biddle Ranch by their beautiful building and landscaping but when I tried the wine, something wonderful happened. They have a Sav Blanc on their menu that sounded similar to a NZ Sav, so I decided to try it, with very low expectations. I was shocked! This was the first and only Californian Sav Blanc I've tasted that is as good as the New Zealand Sav Blancs. It's has that mild tartness with those citrus notes that I love about the NZ Savs. Bravo! There's other wine to, I guess. I'm obsessed with their Sav Blanc, so I'm sticking with it. Then there's the property. It's nestled among the grapevines with an outdoor seating that is so peaceful and serene. There's always chill music playing and they have bands on certain evenings during the summer. If that's not enough, there's Ford, the dog. Super chill guy that loves to say hi. Great wine, beautiful surroundings and a cool dog. What else could you ask for? Go there! Go on. Totally unassuming as we drove by, but so glad we stopped. The design of Biddle Ranch Vineyard is everything. It's absolutely gorgeous from the landscaping to the interior - words simply don't do it justice. There is plenty of outdoor seating for a nice picnic or just to hang out and have a glass of wine with friends and your pup. The grounds seem to wander for a bit so there is plenty to see and do, including cornhole! The vibe is chill. Very quiet and relaxed (complete opposite of Tobin James if that says anything). The wines were really nice and different than some of the other ones in the area. My friend and I were so impressed we ended up joining their wine club which is very reasonable.
