Found Bierport by mistake and it has become one of my favorite spots in Pittsburgh! This place has an amazing selection of beer, and some of the friendliest people around. I really couldn't say enough about this place. I first walked in through the bottleshop and was a little confused as to where the bar was until we saw the signs and made our way downstairs. It was a quiet little unassuming bar, and it was awesome. The bartender was so knowledgeable and we chatted a little before he gave us some samples to try. It was great to have someone to ask questions about and make suggestions that were so. on. point. I will definitely be back, not only to grab a drink but to get some six packs to go. read more

Bierport (formerly Atlas Bottle Works) still has consistently great service and a wonderful tap selection in their bottle shop/tap room. You can snack on popcorn while savoring a flight at one of the many high-top tables or in the cozy corner booth (my favorite). The space works for both couples or larger groups, and I've come with both. Their prices are still super reasonable and the selection they offer is unlike almost anything in the area. Basically, if I want to find a new favorite beer (or three) I come here. Bierport now has a permanent spot in my rotation of favorite places. read more

I stopped by Atlas with my roommate to catch a show downstairs in the bar. While the space is a little small with a band playing, it's a place I would go again if there wasn't live music. Obviously the beer selection is amazing, you can pick anything off the walls and they can chill it for you right away or you can choose from a limited selection of taps that changes. I was most impressed with how knowledgable the staff was, not only about the selection they currently have, but about beer in general. Last winter Duck Rabbit released an oyster stout that was my favorite beer ever, and I was looking forward to them releasing it again this year, only to find out that it was a one-time release for them. I was looking through the selection Atlas had, when my roommate asked one of the employees about oyster stout, he came out and showed me exactly where it was on their shelves. While it wasn't the Duck Rabbit version I had been looking for, 21st Amendment does a great job as well, and I really appreciated the recommendation. If beer isn't your thing, Atlas also carries craft sodas and mixers downstairs, if you're looking to up your cocktail game or have a non-alcoholic beverage. read more

Absolutely LOVE this concept! We love mix and match six packs but sometimes the selection at other places can be limited. Not here! I love how they separate the beers by type and have an always-changing seasonal selection. Each bottle is priced separately but reasonably so. Any mix and match 6-pack automatically gets $3 off the total price. Personally, I only wish they offered more gluten free beers that are not ciders. read more

I don't drink beer at all, but my husband does. I wanted to give him beer as a gift, but had no idea where to start so a friend recommend Atlas. I walked in the shop and there were quite a few people there as it was Christmas Eve. Since I don't know a thing about beer I waited for someone to assist me. After a few short minutes until the line went down, a nice gentleman was able to help me out. I let him know what type of beer my husband drinks and he made recommendations. He was spot on, as my husband loved them!! I was very impressed at the selection the store has, the knowledge the associates had, and the great customer service they provided. Lawrenceville is lucky to have Atlas. I've been here many times to grab a pint, 6-pack or growler. I came for the first time for an event (Dazed & Confused 4/20 showing at Rowhouse, with a Lagunitas beer tasting & tacos). Pricing was SO reasonable, the atmosphere was fun, and the beer was fantastic. Could not have been any further from the hipster stereotype in Lawrenceville. We were greeted personally by the owners at Atlas, given personalized beer suggestions, and the buy-a-beer-get-a-taco was fantastic. I'll be back for sure! read more

Suuuuuppper chill hangout spot right next to Rowhouse. Beers of every sort imaginable lining the walls up- and downstairs, which can be purchased and taken home or chilled and enjoyed onsite. Since you're there, grab one and head downstairs to the relaxing cellar, where there's a bar with different beers on tap along with a video game console to have some fun. I freaking love this place! Diverse beer selection (tons of options from breweries back home out west) and they'll chill your beer in minutes! Prices are alright but I also incredibly absolutely enamored by the decor of the place. Maybe because it reminds me of my inner Pacific NW hipster child? Hahaha. :) read more

With it's connection to the Row House Cinema and the hundreds of selections chilled to drink at the point of purchase, I was an immediate fan. I absolutely plan to come back for a special event, if only to check out the tap room downstairs. Atlas as had pretty good selection including some harder to find beers. It used to be a decent option to buy a bottle or two prior to going to Smoke (back when smoke was BYOB) and it is nice that they sell all bottles as singles. The reason for only being two stars is the prohibitive pricing. If you are only looking for a single 12 ounce bottle it's not that bad...actually similar to what you'd pay at a bar in the area, but if you're looking to buy a six pack or build your own six pack, even with the 10% discount on six packs, the total is about 1.5-2 times the price of say Market District or other similar retailers. read more

So many beers! Not cheap, but it's nice to have such a variety available. They also have a friendly knowledgable staff that can point you in the right direction. You can get any bottle chilled on the spot, and they have six packs premade with different themes. Beers can be opened in the store. They also had beers on tap, or you can get them all to go. I personally really like ciders and they have a good selection of those as well. Be sure to go downstairs, they have a wall of seasonal beers that changes all the time. read more

So, I heard about Bierport and their selection of bottles. I am writing this review solely to the beer advocate thinking about checking it out. I walked in and Bierport is well organized, clean, and has a pretty great selection. There were options from some breweries that you either don't see normally, or are new all together. When I walked in, I was greeted and told that 6 packs of mix-n-match bottles provided a 10% discount on that 6er. As I was shopping for a crowd, I selected 12 bottles. 2 6 packs of various bottles from the likes of Short's, Alpine, Stone, and a few others. I went up to the checkout knowing it would be pricey, but was totally unprepared for what came next. The friendly staff member at the counter scanned each bottle, applied the discount of 10% of each 6 pack, and then greeted me with the crushing total of $51.xx. I was stunned. $51 for 12, 12oz bottles! This was absolutely abhorrent. This meant that each bottle was $4.xx before tax and after a 10% discount. To sum things up, going in for 1-2 bottles would maaaaaybe be about all I would ever consider again. The bottle selection is pretty good, but at those prices I would rather go elsewhere. I understand paying a premium, but let's try and keep it down-to-earth. read more

I live within walking distance of this place, which is dangerous! I love it so much. I can't say enough good things about Bierport and the adjacent Rowhouse Cinema. (Yes, you can take your beer in with you to watch a movie!) They have a wonderful selection of beer, and a cute tap room downstairs. The staff is always SO helpful, happy, and friendly. I also like that they can chill beers in just a few minutes for you, which is especially nice if you're taking a six pack to go and want a cold beer to drink as soon as you get home. This will always be my go-to place to build my own six pack. Love it! read more

I've never had a worse experience at a bottle shop. There was a pretentious guy in a black turtle neck that was a complete jerk. When trying to compliment the place, he wanted to argue about where the coolers were. He then forgot what beer he was chilling for me and asked if I remembered which one I was missing. I said no and asked what he had that was being chilled and he rolled his eyes at me and turned around. Love the place but the customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. read more

Found this shop randomly while walking through Lawrenceville. Great craft beer selection. 2 floors of beer, where the upstairs is year round selection and the downstairs is seasonal selections. They have rotating draft selections for fill into growlers. Will definitely be returning soon to get another 6 pack. Love the fact that the beer is shelved at room temperature and not in a cooler like most other 6 pack shops. This allows me to not be forced to place it in the fridge right away and can keep them on my display to age more. read more

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I made my own six pack, and the staff helped me choose between beers. They carry domestic, local, and imported brews. Beers are sorted by style. They have some refrigerated beers and can readily chill room temperature bottles. I was hoping for a greater selection, though. read more
