We got the Steak Cibatta and Burger of the Month (Two Smashed Patties, Bakers Thick Sliced Bacon, American Cheese, Fried Egg, Garlic Mayo, Martins Potato Roll) and both were delicious! Steak was cooked perfectly and the ciabatta roll paired perfectly. Burger was basically a breakfast burger but had THICK slices of bacon, almost like pork belly, which was unique. I eat a lot of hot dogs! So I think I can be a fair judge. But if you are going to serve a Chicago style hot dog then I think it needs to be made correctly. They didn't have onions on it and they didn't have pickle spears on it. The bun was a potato bun with poppy seeds like stuck to it. But the bun was soft and good so I won't take points off for that. The Cafeteria Chicken Patties are like perfect crispy chicken sliders. Could've crushed like 6 of them. So good! Love the Calabrian Mayo on here. The Burger was delicious as well. As far as smash burgers go, this was one of the better ones I've had. Never been the biggest fan of smash burgers personally but for there being 2 patties on the burger, it somehow still felt quite light. Very very good. The hush puppies were solid. A little bigger than I expected and wish I had something aside from the Malt Vinegar Mayo to dip. Felt very plain. Wish there was a sort of Chipotle Aioli or something tangy to pair with these. The tots were super crispy and well seasoned. I got the Philly Roast Pork sandwich and my husband had the Italian. They both were good although I could have used a little more aged provolone on my sandwich. I was looking for a casual place to get together with friends during a visit back to PGH, and I stumbled across Long Story Short. I had never heard of it, but I was intrigued by its location and connection to Cinderlands (another place I hadn't yet been). My husband and our friends visited on a Saturday evening, and we were pleased to have no issues finding a table, although it did get more crowded as the night progressed. The space isn't massive, but it can pack a good crowd among the bar seating and booths. The restaurant has a fun vibe, very bar-like decor and a little eclectic but still welcoming; it was a great choice to meet friends. The beer menu was quite long, featuring all Cinderland brews but a large variety for all palates. I really enjoyed my sour, which luckily wasn't *too* tart but a perfect balance. My friends and husband all enjoyed their beers (sours and IPAs, mostly) too. Prices were comparable to other spots in PGH but totally reasonable given the quality. For being a smaller operation, I was surprised by how large the menu was. It focuses mostly on handhelds / sandwiches, but also features a few salads and sides. I wound up going for the special of the day at the recommendation of the server; it was a vegetarian rueben melt which featured a ton of sauerkraut (to my liking) and an appropriately crisp rye bread encasing. The flavors were great, and the sandwich was the right amount of filling to keep me satisfied. My dining partners got a variety of dishes, but all feeling similar that they were well done and hit the spot. I didn't go for any sides, but they did look intriguing, particularly the hush puppies! Similar to the beers, the food pricing was so reasonable for the quality and quantity. The menu focus on sandwiches was perfect for a casual beer spot, and I thought they did both so well. We really enjoyed our visit to Long Story Short, and I would totally come back when meeting up with other friends in PGH or even for a casual date night. I checked out the new Long Story Short earlier this week - it's the old Lawrenceville Cinderlands that's still run by the same people but turned into a sandwich shop and bar. Four of us went on a Monday evening and it stayed pretty low key the entire time. There's not a ton of seating inside. There's the bar seating, a couple of seats at the front window, a handful of booths that can squeeze four, and a casual room in the back with the pool table for hanging out. There is also a small upstairs with a handful of arcade games. You order at the iPad kiosk and they give you a number on a stand to bring to wherever you're sitting. Our food came out fairly quickly. I'm normally not impressed by sandwiches but wow, these were incredibly flavorful! They were enormous - one of my friends took half her sandwich home. They even had tasty vegetarian options for one of my friends and the seasoning on the tots was delicious. I definitely want to come back and try their other offerings. Overall, I would recommend this casual spot. I do like that it's open Mondays because sometimes it's impossible to find a place to eat earlier in the week. read more

The site said it would take 15 min to prep and the bag was sitting on the counter when I got there ~11 min later. We got the Nashville chicken and the Italian sandwiches and they both were so flavorful in their own way- it was hard to choose a favorite. Visited Long Story Short for the first time and it was good! I had actually never been when it was the Cinderlands Foederhouse, so I was excited to try their new concept! Lots of great seating at 2-tops and the bar. Casual vibe. I ordered the Fall Over cocktail and it was ok. Not my favorite drink, I almost always finish a cocktail but I could not with this. Too smoky/strong, just unappealing flavors. However, the Hard Tea was amazing! Highly recommend. I also had the loaded tots which were delicious! They have an amazing seasoning blend on them. I also ordered the rodeo burger. The burger was cooked to perfection and the toppings were well done but it was on a potato bun that was soggy the minute the patties and toppings hit it. The bartender who took my order was very friendly :) They do have an app for orders which is useful. I don't like to use apps to order unless it's take out though. I assume that they do a lot of take out business here. The front room gets wonderful daylight, even on the rainy day when I was there. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, this is a great place to meet with friends and family. I found it to be an affordable (by comparison) and casual dining experience in the heart of Lawrenceville. Had a nice time here for a friend's birthday dinner! We were seated in the back room, which I didn't know existed until now, and we unfortunately had a bit of a wobbly table. When we told a server, she said there was nothing she could do, which was a little bit of a surprise. Otherwise, the ambiance and decor was cute and cozy, and there was a lot of nice natural light from the huge wall of windows. For drinks, I tried their pineapple cocktail and it was tasty! Not very strong, but still good and very seasonally appropriate. They only had about 3 or 4 cocktails to choose from, which makes sense given that they primarily serve beer and draft beverages. Their food and drink ordering system is all online and you don't really get the chance to speak with servers or ask questions unless you approach them. With that being said, the menu was fun and there were quite a few options. I opted for the diner burger which was SO good. One of the best burgers I've had in recent memory! We also shared a cheese plate and soft pretzel and both were very tasty app options. The food did take a but of time to arrive, but it was all very tasty across the board. We have been here a few times, but I saw that I haven't reviewed. This is Cinderlands smaller location right in Lawrenceville. They do have a separate taplist (with some overlap) to the larger location in the Strip. They have been doing the Douse series which has been (other then one barleywine) a series of barrel aged stouts with different adjuncts added. They all have been pretty good and at one point during the pandemic were selling out quickly. We were hearing good things about the latest Douse Blend 001 so decided to stop and have a draft and then maybe pick up bottles. We stopped on a Wednesday night and there was a decent crowd but we were able to get some seats at the end of the bar. The bartender was friendly. However, I did ask for water and never received it. We tried the Douse, as well as two sours. The Douse did not live up to others in the series for our tastes. The sours were good, but not great. It's a cool bar area and you frequently see employees of other breweries there. All in all it's a great place to stop for a drink. They have a wide variety on tap. I have not tried the food but have heard good things. read more

Ate earlier at the warehouse, so wasn't starving necessarily but still was intrigued by the potato pancakes - good call with the dill crème fraische to dip those morsels into.. Eh. I went here today with a friend, and it really was not the best experience. I'm totally fine ordering with a scan code, as I frequent the galley group quite a bit. The selection for cocktails was super limited, offering only 2 mixed drinks. They offered a third but it was sold out. Every libation is either on the rocks, neat, etc. I get that it's primarily a beer place but c'mon. When I ordered the curry mussels, the menu did not indicate on the scan code menu that they came with frites. So I ordered the frites on the side. To my surprise, I got my mussels with two sets of fries, which prompted me to ask the server, and she answered me very matter of factly, completely disregarding why I might be asking. She did not offer to remove the side order, or even acknowledge it. The fries were also super salty. Both portions. The curry sauce was delicious, but the mussels were only good, at best. There were about 8-9 left that did not open, and are inedible. I normally get maybe 2-3 per pound that don't open when I get mussels, but this was ridiculous. Don't they do quality control ? Lastly, the mussels didn't even come with a baguette, and they certainly don't offer you ANYTHING beyond what's on the menu. With as many great places to eat and drink in Pittsburgh, I won't be returning here. read more

My boyfriend and I come here all the time to grab beers. I don't think we have ever ordered one that we don't like. They have a really great selection of hazy IPAs and tart shake IPAs, which we love. We ordered the waygu smashed burger and the Turkey sando during our last visit. The sandwich was really light and summery with the cucumbers and strawberries. The waygu burger was really juicy with homemade pickles on top. They also have a crunchwrap menu option that is one of our favorites! Cinderlands has a great ordering system using a barcode. We came here with my parents and little one, which is always a tall order. Everyone left happy and full! The burgers were really good and my striped bass was awesome. I also really loved the ambiance here. We all loved checking out the mural and spotting all of the Pittsburgh sights.
