    Poke bowl
    Anqi H.

What a gem! We came for a group lunch, and it was the perfect combination of chill vibes and good food. There was plenty of seating on a Friday. I got their poke bowl, which was refreshing and tasty. It was on the pricey side for a poke bowl ($20), but you just can't beat the experience. They have nice lounging areas and games to play with. That waterfront view is just unbeatable. I appreciate that there's shade by the tables, so it's not too hot. It also felt very family friendly, where kids would play board games with their family. I would definitely come again!

Such a great free and open space. Lots of seating options and ways to take in the sun and the city view. They also have a bar with food and drinks and water given the recent heat. It's a great spot to take a break when out in the trail.

LOVED the vibes and the views here! The service was quick and they had people checking in every once in a while. I was a little bummed by the food selection. When I went they only had displayed a menu of hot dogs and 3 cocktails. I'm not sure if they ran out of the other food items or something. The bathroom situation also was unfortunately not great:/ They have porta potties but they are a bit of a walk from the barge. They are also in a secluded area under the bridge so definitely bring a buddy. Shore Thing is definitely a fun place to hangout in the summer and get a couple of drinks!:)

This is a project of Riverlife, and although it will be stored in October, it will return every Spring. It's free to board, but you buy the food and drink. There's no table service, you order from the bar. The food is pretty good, but the beer is amazing and is from Brew Gentleman. The view is great. The seating is mostly picnic tables, but there's also some meshed rope seats that are cool. The staff are very friendly.

I'm so happy we have this now!!! The vibes are lovely. Shout out to brew gentleman -- they have a great variety of beers there. My fav is Garden Party! We haven't tried much of the food yet, but I wouldn't expect anything crazy because they don't have a full kitchen. And that's okay!! We are here for the vibes and the vibes are incredible.

We went to Shore Thing last Tuesday and it wasn't too crowded for the most part although we had to wait to lay on the rope beds that overlook the river. The space itself is quite charming and I love the chiming of the art installation - it really adds to the ambiance. There is a small selection of drinks and snacks you can purchase although it doesn't quite match the menu that is available on their website. I was disappointed when I didn't see the shaved ice that was mentioned on their website. Shore Thing is made out of barges so it does move a little bit in the water. I wish there was more shade because it was absolutely brutal in the sun and a few small umbrellas can only do so much. There are some crafts available you can do. Overall it's a cute space and I would come back when it's cooler out.

"I wonder how many phones get dropped into the river," I think, sitting on the roped mesh over water itself. Also, needing a break from being connected 24/7, would it be so bad if my phone fell in? ... but I digress. This is a welcome spot for those of us wanting waterfront drinks. And you can't get more water than this- it's all around. You have to cross a ramp to access the space. As an old yinzer, I remember this spot was formerly the boat launch for the kayaks. Boats can pull up and get a drink. It's hot with the sun but the canopy helps. It's so relaxing to be on the water. Kid friendly. Brew gentlemen is on tap! They did run out of water so make sure to bring plenty. Also, limited food, pack some too. Finally, bathrooms are porta johns under the bridge.

Visited the shore thing yesterday. Such a neat concept on the river. We enjoyed a beverage and just hung out for a while. The service was fast, we were able to walk up and order without any wait. They serve Brew Gentlemen beer and a variety of cocktails. It's such a cool vibe, just sitting in the river taking in the view. My only complaint is I wish the food menu had a little more variety m.

I went to visit Shore Thing again on a Tuesday afternoon/early evening. I was walking along the north shore river trail and decided to randomly stop in for a drink. The day that I visited, they had live music which added a nice vibe to the visit. Shore Thing is suitable to visit alone or with a group. I ordered a cocktail and found a seat overlooking the river. The staff are always very kind and helpful. I'm so happy to have this spot on the river to enjoy the outdoors and to relax and have a cocktail.

This gets five stars for river ambiance alone! How long have we been saying, "Why aren't there more riverfront places when we're surrounded by three rivers?!" This is a wonderful place to hang out and chill on the river. They have a decent beer and drink selection and plenty of seating options. There are these cool rope hammocks to lounge in. They also have larger and smaller tables and a few perimeter seats to take in the jet skiers and boats passing by. There are these magical wind chimes made out of shells or mica that sound so cool when the breeze blows too.

Pittsburgh has needed to do something with its riverfront for years in my opinion. Philadelphia's businesses have us beat by a mile so I'm giving Shore Thing 5 stars just for the idea. Drinks were incredible, hotdogs always a hit. I hope this comes back yearly and is joined by other bars/businesses along the water.

Absolutely love this new spot in town! I think they need to make these all around the waterfront. They have a vendor here serving up some good food! Service was fast and the people are nice! They didn't have a lot of the items on their online menu when I went but they did have their sandwiches. I really liked the pulled mushroom sandwich! It was so good! This is a great place to get a drink and hang out. The views are unparalleled. Definitely a new favorite in town. It does get crowded and getting a seat is competitive.

    Dan K.

What a relaxing, chill spot right on the water. Unfortunately, when we stopped, they were out of all the sandwich options. We had some local beers and just enjoyed watching the boats, kayakers, and jet skis on the water. It really is a perfect spot to enjoy the city skyline and relax.

We sat outside, which was first come first serve. It took awhile for anyone to approach us but I was in the restaurant industry for some time so I surely realize it happens for many reasons ! My friend ordered two speciality drinks which we were then told they didn't have the ingredients to make those cocktails...Okay - it happens no problem . We then ordered food from the brunch menu ( also out of the first item we asked for , there are only about 6-7 items on that limited menu). We asked if the regular menu would be available that day and we were told "no not on Sunday's." We proceeded to order and consume the hot honey chicken and waffles( good but not much of a hot honey taste and be aware it's BONE IN chicken), French toast with berries ( delicious ), and the shrimp and grits (made to perfection). I ordered the Texas medicine beverage , which was exquisite! (Tequila cocktail, Pictured). We also had the Petal and Pearl , gin and procecco cocktail ,not pictured but very good as well. After we ate, we moved to the bar to grab one last beverage. Again, it took quite some time for someone to approach us, which was odd because many of the girls were making eye contact but walking by us. Finally a gentleman with curly hair came over to take our orders - thank you. We noticed people at the bar were eating wings and food that was not listed on the brunch menu. When I asked how they ordered that, they said the regular menu starts at 3 on Sundays! We were extremely disappointed our original server did not tell us this nor was enlightened that the menu was released at a later time on Sundays. Concerning. It was nice to sit on a roof top in Pittsburgh on a sunny day. They have the atmosphere done with perfection. The food seemed delectable and the beverages done with beautiful presentations. I really hope to give this place another chance and revise my review !

I've heard so many mixed things that I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed every aspect of my experience. It kind of has dive bar vibes but the food and drink options are definitely on the elevated side. They open at 4 on Sundays and I got there around 4:15. It was already pretty busy (and by the time I was leaving, every single table and bar stool were occupied). They have standard booth seats along the windows, hightop tables in the middle and bar seating along the bar that curves along the back of the restaurant. I chose to sit at the bar since I was by myself. I was promptly greeted by the bartender. They don't hand you copies of the menu, you have to scan the QR code to access. It is easy to read and follow with sections for drinks, specials (this time they were Wicked themed as a nod to the show at the Benedum) and a sushi section. I ordered the street corn dip. The chips were a bit overcooked and the dip was just OK. I thought it was pricey for what you got. The star of my meal, though, was the patty melt. It had the burger, a bacon jam, caramelized onions and was absolutely delicious! It was served with fries. I considered ordering sushi but wasn't sure what to expect. The patrons sitting on either side of my ordered rolls and they were a nice size and looked delicious, so that is something I would consider ordering in the future. It was a place I'll likely be back to because of the proximity to the theater (although their prices definitely reflect that). Just note how crowded it always is and give yourself plenty of time if you plan on heading here for dinner before the show.
