Steaks were amazing on the stone!! Salad was great as well!! Good service and so close to the pnc park

Very decent place to grab a quick drink and something to eat, but customer service wasn't the best , we and my boys came here and no one acknowledged us, or anything we sat for more than 20 minutes before someone formally came to serve us, I was mad but the game was on , And when it was time to get the check they took forever, and it wasn't busy seems like very decent place , not a divo but Deserved better service

April 29th: Apologies on being so late with this post. Stopped in before the game to grab some brews. Mike's is a great Sports bar with a ton of beers to choose from. They have food, but I chose not to eat because I was going to the Cubs/Pirates game later. Packed house even during the huge storm that day!

I've been to Mike's Beer Bar many times over the years and always enjoy it. The beer list is extensive with so many unique options to try. I also love that you can order steak on a stone while still getting more of a fun sports bar vibe. The staff has always been nice and attentive. We have a parking pass directly across the street, so parking is never an issue either. This past visit we stopped in after leaving the Pittsburgh Pirates game and the blueberry wheat was good!

Went on a non-game day. Can't beat the location when visiting the city. Food was fine. I'd pass on the gimmick of steak on a stone. Cold beer is where this place is at!

I had so much fun. What a Great Night Mike Bar Hosted The Beer & Big Shots Fundraiser for Media Association of Pittsburgh. The Food Was Yummy & The Service was Amazing They Had Guest Bartenders & Everyone Was Having a Great Time

Looking for a spot to pre-game before a Pirates game? I'd say check out Mike's Beer Bar. That's what I did and I wasn't disappointed. What stuck out most was the service. This place was incredibly busy hours before the game, but we never had issues getting drinks. The staff, our server in particular, were really on top of things and did a great job of slinging drinks. Another big plus was that they have a huge beer list. Looking to try something local? They have plenty of local/regional craft beers to choose from. I will say that the food menu did seem a bit underwhelming. I looked at it several times and just couldn't really find anything that clicked with me. But given the circumstances, this is a relatively minor gripe. The fact that we never had to flag down or wait on drinks was what really mattered. I'd totally come back to Mike's to pregame, or just to hang out and work my way through the beer menu.

Great place! Lots of local beers! I had the Greek salad with chicken and it was good. Barstools did not help my back.

Came in on Christmas Day with a part of 6 and only waited around 15 minutes for a table. Server and service were appropriate and cordial. Ambiance is that of a large pub with lots of Steelers memorabilia and great gameday specials. The wings were fantastic and's my favorite thing we purchased. Butter was average but the beer was cold. Giving them 5 stars for being pretty spot on for a busy holiday. Enjoy.

This was not my first time here but it was my first time for a STEELERS game. The sounds quality and tv viewing was great. They have a great and expansive draft selection. I had the Maryland Crab dip which is delicious but best shared. The service was decent and the place was spacious. It's definitely a place to catch up over beers and food without needing to go elsewhere to meet someone's particular tastes. It's definitely great for summer game days too with an outdoor space!

Don't be fooled: Pittsburgh is not only a foodie town (who knew?) but also a craft beer paradise. You know the beer choices are golden when you can't really find Coors or Bud anywhere (no shade to coors or bud drinkers). Mike's Beer Bar is basically a warehouse disguised as a beer house. There are literally hundreds on tap and in bottles/cans. We went during a game, so the place wasn't as busy as I'm sure pregame or postgame is (this is literally across the street from PNC). I got a flight of PA based breweries, and it was not disappointing. My husband preferred the Raspberry bourree beer. They also have light menu, Bavarian pretzels and things of that nature. I had a fantastic experience here. Can't wait to return!

I had time to kill before I could check into my hotel and needed a beer after traveling all morning. This is cool spot across the street from PNC Park. As a beer nerd, this place is heaven. So many local craft beers on draft and tap. Ended up having a cheeseburger too and it was delicious. Nice, fresh, and filling. The fries were perfect too. It was semi busy and I never had an empty glass. The ladies behind the bar crushed it.

BEST PITTSBURGH WING…read more We were absolutely not expecting this and still can't believe it. We didn't have major expectations but hoped it would be at least a top 5 wing and average meal. It was beyond that The French onion soup we saw online and everyone seemed to enjoy that. We're whores for it so had to get. I like mine a tad bit salty which this was and PACKED with onion chunks and breaded leeks on top. It was impossible to get a spoon fully without any inclusions. My new favorite The Tavern Burger. I'm coming fresh off 9 years without 5 Guys (elite) and this rocked me harder than that. This isn't a stupid smash burger. We got a juicy COOKED PERFECT RARE 8oz patty, topped with sautéed onions, and bacon that isn't crisped to smithereens. I like my bacon medium rare and that's exactly what I got. Then covered in one of the craziest sauces I have ever had, their gorgonzola cream. I could drink that by the gallon The wings.... I have never had a wing itself cooked more perfect in my life. The smoke and meatiness on them was so nailed that I could get 2 dozen plain and still have the same reaction. We got the Buffalo Garlic and Dry Cajun Ranch. These wings don't need drenched in sauce by any means or it would honestly ruin it. The buffalo doesn't ned to be creamy either. Perfect amount of sauce to cheese ration. The dry cajun ranch was a fucking knockout. For how great the wing is I would love to see more dry season options with them Cam got a Tavern Dip. I hate dips. I loved the shaved ribeye on it and horseradish, but I have never been an Au Jus man. Would 100000% eat it without the au jus Then the fries. Always team psoriasis through and through. Not sure if I'm coming off the Five Guys high but their cajun boardwalk style are even better. Get some spicy honey aioli to dip them in. Truly just shocked at how amazing this place is. Right over the bridge and cannot recommend enough going here before a game and walking over. Great spot right before, after and during sports. Very high Pittsburgh atmosphere going on I will be back so many times and absolutely worth going Downtown for

Unfortunately that's were the good ends. First and always foremost, how was the food? An absolutely mess. Impossible to enjoy bc the sandwich falls apart immediately, simply can not pick up without losing everything inside, and greasy as all get out. I should have expected this to an extent, but a nearly $20 grilled cheese at a place that "specializes" in them, I would hope could do better than this. Service was very, very slow despite many open seats. The part that probably sent it over the top was the plate runner constantly spilling the tomato soups everytime they brought out someone's meal. Mine dripped all of the ground as he sat it down, my wife's got on her tray so the bread was just mushy on the bottom, and we saw it constantly as he walked by delivering others. Cool idea, cool location, but the rest was just bad.

We also asked the host if someone could help us, but were told she couldn't because she wasn't a server and that our server would eventually get to us. After waiting that long with no service, my wife and I decided to leave. We were genuinely excited to eat here, so it was disappointing to walk out without even getting the opportunity to try the food. City Works Pittsburgh -- Sports, Salmon & Sinfully Good Cheese Curds…read moreVisited: Wednesday, July 29, 2026 4.5/5 Seven hungry road-weary hooligans rolled into City Works Pittsburgh around 6 p.m. on a Wednesday looking for three basic human necessities: food, alcohol and enough televisions to ensure nobody was ever forced into sustained eye contact. Mission accomplished. The place has a modern, spacious, casually polished feel--comfortable without being stuffy, energetic without sounding like someone dropped a silverware drawer down a flight of stairs. There are TVs seemingly everywhere, which makes City Works an excellent headquarters for sports fans, large groups, wandering degenerates, or seven friends who simply need a civilized staging area before whatever questionable decisions occur later in the evening. We initially sat in a booth before realizing that seven grown adults plus drinks, menus, appetizers and our collective egos required substantially more acreage. Our server--a very cute, friendly young lady--handled our relocation request without even the faintest visible urge to poison us. She was attentive, pleasant and took excellent care of the table throughout dinner. Food-wise, City Works did exactly what I wanted it to do. My main dish was the blackened grilled salmon salad, and this thing was no sad little punishment salad designed for somebody who lost a bet. It was a substantial bowl of greens, vegetables, egg, cheese and a beautifully seasoned piece of salmon on top. Fresh, filling, colorful and flavorful enough that I could temporarily pretend I was making responsible nutritional decisions. Then we ordered the fried stuff. The fried pickles were superb--crispy, salty, tangy little discs of comfort-food righteousness begging to be dragged through dipping sauce. And the deep-fried cheese curds? Dear God. Warm little golden nuggets of dairy sin. Crispy outside, molten cheesy joy inside. Somewhere a cardiologist felt a mysterious disturbance in the Force, and I regret absolutely nothing. The wings circulating around the table looked properly sauced and substantial as well, and there was enough food flying around that our table began looking less like dinner and more like negotiations at the United Nations of Cholesterol. What I especially liked about City Works was the balance. It's social and lively but not obnoxiously loud. You can watch a game, drink a beer, eat something substantial and actually hear the human sitting across from you without communicating through semaphore. For a group gathering, I think this place absolutely nails it: plenty of room, relaxed atmosphere, lots of TVs, good drinks, genuinely enjoyable food and service that comfortably handled seven traveling idiots changing tables and descending upon appetizers like raccoons behind a Wisconsin supper club. Strong recommendation. City Works was exactly what we needed that evening--a comfortable Pittsburgh gathering spot where the salmon lets you pretend you're healthy and the cheese curds immediately expose you as a liar.

It took another ten minutes before I was able to get a refill, and she never asked again for the rest of the time we were there. The people sitting beside us arrived later and ordered similar food to us, and they somehow received their food quite some time before ours came out. I am almost certain the bartender forgot to put in our order. Halfway through our meal (which was okay at best), someone turned the music up so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. My first trip to Pittsburgh meant a lot of firsts, including my first meal in the city…read more After a 3:30 AM wake-up call and a flight into Pittsburgh, my 18-year-old travel companion Jackson and I were more than ready for lunch. Normally I travel with his dad so this trip was a little different. Jackson has heard plenty of stories about all the places his father and I have eaten over the years, so this time I handed him the responsibility of picking our first restaurant. Working downtown, we needed something close by and landed at RedBeard's Sports Bar & Grill. The short walk through downtown Pittsburgh was interesting, but the weather was another story. Hot, humid, and muggy. By the time we arrived, the restaurant was busy and only outdoor seating was available. We took a table outside but asked if we could move indoors when something opened up. Our server, Lauren, was fantastic from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and she made sure we were well taken care of. I let Jackson choose the appetizer and he knocked it out of the park with the mozzarella sticks. Crispy on the outside, loaded with gooey melted cheese on the inside, and paired with a very good marinara sauce. Definitely a strong start to the meal. Jackson and I quickly came to the same conclusion: air conditioning exists for a reason. Patio dining has its place, but a hot and humid Pittsburgh afternoon isn't it. Thankfully, we were able to move inside once a table became available. For my meal, I ordered the Reuben, one of my go-to sandwiches whenever I see it on a menu. RedBeard's version didn't disappoint. Plenty of corned beef, good flavor throughout, and everything worked well together. I requested my fries well-done with no seasoning, and they came out exactly the way I like them. Jackson went with the Inside-Out Grilled Cheese and was thrilled with his choice. Judging by how quickly it disappeared, I'd say it was a winner. I don't know when I'll find myself back in Pittsburgh, but I enjoyed both the restaurant and the downtown atmosphere. Good food, excellent service from Lauren, and a solid first dining experience in the city. 4 stars from me. I'd happily stop back in the next time work brings me to Pittsburgh.
