The prices here are majorly inflated, even with any coupons or promo codes. Also, one of the shift managers could use a MAJOR refresher on customer service. Had an item to exchange for the same model within one day of the original purchase - I had my receipt - and I had all the original packaging. Got an interrogation that the cast of Law & Order would be impressed with. Got asked multiple times why I was wanting to exchange the item for the same thing and each time I would explain that it didn't work straight out of the box but I still wanted the same item. It was obvious there was no heavy use or operator error involved. Went on for almost 15 mins before I just said I was willing to lose out on the $30 bucks if it meant I didn't have to keep up the pointless discussion and hoops she was making me jump through. She begrudgingly refunded the money in the end because they didn't have the same model I purchased, but I would highly encourage you to shop elsewhere for your sporting goods needs. read more

This is a typical Big 5. Normal selection of sporting gear and apparel. The staff is usually milling around and not asking to help anyone. The only employee that was nice was the cashier. So be prepared to be on your own to find what you're looking for if you come here. Most of the stuff here is over priced and you can find it at Walmart for way cheaper. Brought two pair of shoes up to the register to pay. When i made it to the front, one pair was rung up, and then the phone rang. My cashier answered and then began a conversation with whoever called, without excusing herself or without even saying anything. The mgr (I think) stood there for 3-4 minutes and THEN dragged himself over to finish ringing up my purchase. After he was done, i said one of the prices was incorrect, as the shoe was on the backwall, with a different price tag on iy. Great location; the team is always upbeat and friendly. Greeting you with smiles when you enter the store. With fishing season starting; I will be visiting this location a lot more here and there. The prices are a little higher compare to other sporting stores but Big 5 has always been the place to shop for fishing accessories and sporting items. read more

Worst customer service I ever had at big five in Federal Way. I was the only person in line and the General Manager was behind the register on the phone. Once he completed his call, he stated he will get someone to help me. Two cashiers were going behind the register. He asked one of cashiers to help me. The cashier asked me to move over to the other register. Once I got to the register another white male got to the register before me. Instead of cashier telling the guy she was waiting on me and she would get him next or if it is okay to wait on him. She proceeded to help him. She completely ignores me. The customer wanted another item and he was going back to get it. The cashier decided to get the item for him. Still ignoring that I was the only one at the register. At that point I decided to the General Manager which was on the phone when I first got to the register. I explain the above situation to him. I am truly disappointed in the cashier service I received today. I spend a lot of money at this facility and usually the service is not rude. I didn't recognize this particular cashier but after spending $268.00 dollars when I asked her of she could check my account for rewards. She responded it's in your mail, I stated other cashiers checked for me and she still responded it will be in your mail. I understand it would be in my mail and I know it's my responsibility however, if you are not expecting to shop at this a store then why would you have this information? Common sense I would think a person wouldn't what is the purpose being a member and not able utilizing three rewards. This was a case of laziness on the clerks point of view if you want to continue to have customers like myself that spend money with your company. My opinion you should speak with your staff and advise if a customer wants you to check don't give them a hard time check it takes less than 3 mins if that. Big 5 Sporting Goods is an average sporting goods chain. Although Dick's Sporting Goods is across the street, hopefully Sports Authority's closure in Auburn will help boost the sales of both stores. I came in here specifically looking for Sunglass Retainers. They were right at the entrance. Unfortunately, the didn't have what I was looking for. Big 5 isn't exactly a good-looking sporting goods store. That honor goes to the newer Dick's Sporting Goods across the street. Big 5 is smaller too. The sunken floor in the middle, which made this store unique was removed a few years ago. You can get good deals when stuff is on sale. The shoe selection here sucks, btw. One of the good things about this place is it's location in SeaTac Village- a shopping center across from The Commons Mall, featuring Trader Joe's, HomeGoods, DSW Shoes, ULTA Beauty, Ma Boulangerie Bakery, Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, and others. Good place to look for some inexpensive sporting goods and outdoor gear. Not the highest quality stuff, but a lot cheaper than shopping at REI. This company has a new circular out every week with a ton of stuff marked down 20-60%, so try to get the goods while they're on sale! Worst customer service I've ever had at big five. The lady back and the shoes came out from the back stood there and looked at me for a minute. Back in the back came back out when I stayed over by the weights and wind up there so I watch for 7 or 8 Minutes finally went over and asked her if she could help me and she said she was busy with another customer and I told her I didn't look like it finally she came back and got my shoe size I went and paid for them and left. Giving it 5 Stars after my experience today - bought boots 5 months ago (the same one DH has worn for 5 yrs), he finally wore them and they gave him blisters. Went into to see if they would exchange and they didn't have to but did it with a smile! Wow, I was impressed. Also, got 2 pairs of tennis shoes on sale for 60% off! I have to come o Big 5. Since i have 6 kids. Shoes are very expensive so i mostly shop at discount shoe stores. I really like Big 5 for the children under 12. Second year in a row I've been at the door on Black Friday waiting for it to open. I went in specifically for one item, a hoodie. I told the gal at the register what I came in for and she immediately said, "I'm sorry we're currently out of stock on that item".
