We also could not find any employees available on the sales floor to assist her. She went to the front to ask for help, and the employee responded rudely, saying they couldn't leave and would send someone to assist--but no one came. After waiting about 15 minutes, another employee walked by. When asked for help, they responded in a rude manner, saying they had too much to do, and only briefly pointed out where the item was instead of actually helping. Customer service like this is frustrating and unprofessional. If the item wasn't needed, we would have walked out. Definitely reconsidering shopping here again.

So early the next morning I loaded my bike rack and drove all the way down there to find out that no, they do not have it in stock. That was bad enough but the employees just gave a simple, "sorry" like it was no big deal and went back to what they were doing. They were young and maybe didn't realize the inconvenience to me. Long story short, they cannot trust their computers to give accurate inventory so if you call ahead, insist they physically check to make sure it's there.

In CA to purchase ammo, you need to show ID, prove you have previously purchased a firearm, pay $1 fee, be subject to verification via computer and often, a lengthy wait for approval. The two ladies at the front greeted me. When I walked into the apparel section I met a very cool guy named Darrell. Darrell is very knowledgeable about a lot of things. He is really big on merchandising and logistics. Once you get him talking about fishing though, you'd better pack a lunch. Ha! So lucky to have people like this that work in the service industry. Darrell explained so much about the store. He explained where I could find various items, the history of some taxidermic animals mounted on the walls, and other locations of Sportsman's warehouse is located throughout the country. That's A+ customer service. I would go back just to solicit Darrells expertise on outdoor gear and deals.

For the first time, I was able to see or hold real firearms which are allowed in CA only in picture form. Being a resident of CA, I am not allowed to buy them, but at least I can look at them. Ammo prices are fabulous here. I bought what I needed and walked out of the store, thinking "What's wrong with this picture?" It was that I wasn't treated like a potential criminal, as in CA. No ID required, no $1 fee, no computer check, no waiting for the results. Just buy the ammo like a normal law-abiding citizen. One of the friendly gun department staff members compared notes with me about gunsmiths, and we realized that we both favored Bolsa Gunsmithing in Westminster, CA. That was surprising.
