This is an outstanding place for anybody who is outdoorsy. My first impression after walking in the store was the extremely well done display of various game animals in the area, all with appropriate identification labels. You just don't see that very often. My interest was over in the gun department. As a Californian, subject to the inane and ineffective gun control laws passed by liberal legislators, I must say it is a pleasure to at least see actual firearms on display that only pictures of are allowed in CA. And whoa, ammo prices are great ! I got what I needed and ambled out to my car thinking how nice it is not to be treated like a potential criminal, like I am in CA. In CA to purchase ammo, you need to show ID, prove you have previously purchased a firearm, pay $1 fee, be subject to verification via computer and often, a lengthy wait for approval. This prevents crime? Of course not. Sportsman's Warehouse in St. George is a great place, thanks for a glimpse of rationality. And great ammo prices ! read more

I'm from San Diego, and found myself in Cedar city Utah for a few hours. I saw a large sign that said "Sportsman's Warehouse" and decided to see if I can find any deals. The two ladies at the front greeted me. When I walked into the apparel section I met a very cool guy named Darrell. Darrell is very knowledgeable about a lot of things. He is really big on merchandising and logistics. Once you get him talking about fishing though, you'd better pack a lunch. Ha! So lucky to have people like this that work in the service industry. Darrell explained so much about the store. He explained where I could find various items, the history of some taxidermic animals mounted on the walls, and other locations of Sportsman's warehouse is located throughout the country. That's A+ customer service. I would go back just to solicit Darrells expertise on outdoor gear and deals. read more

I moved to Ivins, Utah, from Reno, NV., about 3 1/2 years ago. I did quite a bit of shopping at the Reno Sportsman's and now shop at the St George Sportsman's. One of the biggest things about this business is that they consistently have good people working for them and very good customer service. Their entire store is a grownup toy store for the outdoor enthusiast. Prices are fair, the quality of the merchandise is very good, and the store is always neat, clean, and well organized with plenty of merchandise to choose from. And it's not just a guy store. My wife also enjoys going there, shopping for clothing mainly, and others do dads. There are items in there for the kids as well. So check it out. You'll enjoy it. I bought some really expensive Sitka camo from sportsman's by Costco in St. George Utah. I brought the clothes back because they felt cheap. They had not been worn. They have been sitting in the bag since they have been bought. I tried returning them today and they told me they would not be able to return them because there was a piece of hair on the pants and that they smelt like they have been used sitka has its own unique scent to smell like the outdoors, so the manager of the clothing department did not know what he was talking about. Just leaving this store, the young man at the gun counter told me as a non-resident that I would not be able to purchase a firearm from them. Seems silly for such a big store to not be able to ship to an FFL in my state. Disappointed that I waited in line for the deal I had seen in the paper, only to be told that "it's been a thing since the 70's" that a non-resident can't purchase a handgun. 1-star if the store in fact can't ship to an FFL. I live in Northern Utah and travel South in my 5th wheel often as I love the scenery and moderate population. I have been buying ammunition and shooting supplies at this store for years as I love local ranges and love to shoot. I came down from Sandy last Saturday to stay a week at the newly opened Desert Canyon RV Resort off the Southern Parkway and came into the store for some ammunition to head to the range. While there, I noticed an interesting bullpup shotgun that caught my eye. The employee behind the counter was very helpful and attentive showing me the features of the shotgun. I decided to pass until I could do some research on the gun as I had never seen or heard of the model. After researching I decided to buy the shotgun and received approval from my wife. I went to the store on Wednesday and completed the paperwork when their computers went down making it so they were unable to complete the sale. That is no big deal at all. I understand that happens. The employee offered to hold the gun for me for 24 hours and took my number and told me I would receive a call when the computers came back online. I related that I was staying 30 minutes away so I would not be driving back the same day but would return the following day. When I returned the following day the employee I was dealing with the day before was not behind the counter. A nice woman asked me if I needed help and I told her I was there to pick up the gun on hold from the day before. She put me in contact with another employee who related he would go to the back and get the shotgun. When he returned with the gun he asked me for my Utah DL which I provided. He then asked me if my address was current. I replied yes it is. He said so this is your address? I said yes it is. All of a sudden the conversation changed when he said I had stated the previous day that I was staying 30 minutes away. I related that I was staying at Desert Canyons RV park in my RV so that was correct. I further related that I did not reside at the RV park full time but I was in town for a week and headed back North on Saturday. Another employee walked up and asked me if my address was current and I replied that it was. He then asked if that address is where I lay my head down to sleep at night. I replied yes, usually, unless I am out on the road vacationing in my RV in which case no. They said they needed to get another employee involved and I was getting confused as to what the issue was. The other employee approached and said I would need to provide some additional government documentation verifying my address or they would not be able complete the sale. He then asked me why I was buying the gun at that store and not in Salt Lake. I stated I had not seen the particular model anywhere and had noticed it at their store last week and decided to pick it up. I related I was staying in my RV which was 30 minutes away and would need to see what I had in terms of mail or further documentation as I was not prepared to show government documents or mail when I arrived to pick up the gun. I am retired Navy and have been a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for 10 years. I have been purchasing guns all over Southern Utah for years as I vacation in the area often and am a shooting sports enthusiast. Last month I was in Cedar City and purchased a firearm from Sportsman's, told them I was staying at the Iron Springs RV Resort, and the employees gave me directions to the free Iron County gun range right by the resort. I have never once had an issue purchasing a firearm anywhere within our great state. If you are traveling to St. George from Northern Utah, I highly recommend you take your shooting sports interests elsewhere. There are many other reputable firearms dealers in the local area that are privately owned and helpful and also understand that Utah residents vacation in other areas throughout the state. read more

I went in to the Saint George store and purchased some camping stools. When I checked out the cashier said the computer crashed and I needed to re-do the transaction. I did....... ($71.66) When I got home I checked my account and realized they charged me twice...... I called the store and they gave me a different number to call...........I called the number and they requested a copy of the receipt, so I emailed it to them. A week later , still no refund so I call the number back and after some back and forth they tell me that one charge is a pre-auth and my bank needs to take care of it.... (they charged me twice, not pre-auth) the girl on the phone would not listen to what I was trying to tell her. I called my bank just in case.......they agreed with me , I was double charged...... I call the store in Saint George and speak to a "manager" and now they want bank statements from me and I need to go back into the store? BS........... There are many good reasons to give Sportsman's a great rating; The store is HUGE! They have everything from hunting, fishing, camping, and everything in between. Chief among all these great reasons is, I'm giving these guys 5 stars because they don't gouge their customers. During this unprecedented ammo shortage, too many of the stores in our area have jacked up their ammo prices to make a quick buck. The two worst offenders are CalRanch and Dick's Sporting Goods. It's price gouging and it sucks. Sportman's has consistently kept their prices low and placed a one-box limit on most bulk ammo to make sure everyone gets a chance to buy when it comes in. The staff in every department are pros (and sportsmen themselves) and hunt and fish in this area, so I know I'm geting good info when I ask about where to bag the fish or game I'm looking for. Hate to leave less than a 5 star rating because the store is huge , clean and the employees are very friendly. I went in around 1015am to purchase a gun. There were somewhere between 5 & 10 people at the counter and 2 employees. I know the background check stuff is a pain because I've gone through it multiple times for my multiple guns. Anyway , I'm standing at the counter with my kid waiting for someone to come help me. A few more people show up and everyone is waiting. They passed me by for the newer people that just showed up multiple times. I may look young and inexperienced but I probably have more weapons experience than any of the other customers there. That being said I was finally helped by another employee that just came out of nowhere. This is about 45 minutes after I first arrived at the counter. I told him what I wanted , he gave it to me to hold and I said I'll take it. All within a minute because I knew exactly what I wanted and honestly I could have been out in 20 minutes if someone helped me right away. So the guy puts the gun to the side and tells me someone will come do the paperwork for the background check. Another 10 minutes pass before another man comes and asks if I need help. I said I was waiting for someone to do the background check paper work and he couldn't do it so he told the people that could do it that I was waiting. At this point the counter was pretty much empty so it was a little frustrating to have me and my kid wait an hour to start the paperwork. We started the paperwork and about 2 minutes later some other man comes up to the counter to ask about something and instead of getting another employee , the guy that was helping me stopped doing my paperwork and helped the other guy. Another 2 minutes wasted. He apologized but that doesn't make it any better when my kid is there pissed off that it's taking so long. I'm a tad bitter about that more than anything else. I completed the paperwork and the check was done in 5 minutes. I paid and left. I was happy because I got an excellent deal and still will shop there again , however if the gun I wanted wasn't drastically reduced I would have left after 30 minutes of waiting. There either needs to be a number system like in a deli or there needs to be more employees working the section , or retrain the current employees to be mindful of everyone at the counter. Just something different so I didn't have to take 90 minutes to buy a gun when it would have taken me no more than 20 minutes. Time is money. I could easily have knocked off another star but the deal was too good and the employees were extremely nice. read more

Just your nice outdoor place in St George, on the way to Zion. Its perfect location across the street from Costco. Reminds me of a compact efficient Basspro shop. But more camping stuff and a lot more useable items. It has what I need, clothes to socks and camping gear. Good selection of midrange camping gear. Nicely organized and clean shop. They have smaller paddle boats and a gun and rifle shop. Good mix of items with great help. Prices are right. Will come back on my next trip to southern Utah. read more

Love this store! Sad to have seen the location in Las Vegas open and close in a matter of 3 months 2 years ago. They have everything from hunting, fishing, camping, and all the gear in between. Biggest selection of Camp Chef products around. Very approachable and friendly staff. There was a woman manning the firearms counter that looked like someone's Aunt who could spend hours telling you the difference between a 9mm and a .22 just as your own Aunt would school you on the differences between nutmeg and all spice... Definitely make it a point to stop here anytime I am driving through St George. read more

I have spent so much money here its not even funny. If my wife had a clue, I would be banned for life. I have to admit most of my purchase has been at or around the gun counter; however, I have bought backpacks, tents, knifes and Dutch ovens. I have no problem supporting a store that keeps prices consistent during the ammo/gun crunch. Many of the employees know me now by name. The only complaint I can find for Sportsman's is they seem to be more hunters than tactical guys. They don't know a whole lot about ARs, they don't carry any tactical style brand of clothes/gear. To wrap things up, great store, great employees, great prices. Support your local Sportsman's! read more

Too bad they closed the Vegas store, we drive to St George on the weekends just to get away and we always stop in here. They too have everything for camping, hunting, fishing and living outdoors. My husband and I are so happy to have found a Sportsman because we are originally from Oregon and they closed all the stores there. Then moved to Vegas and they had one but it was only open for a short time then closed. St.George's store is the closest store to us. It was very well stocked and clean. I initially came here wanting to use my Dixie Direct discount card. They were having an amazing sale on Remington 9mm 350 count buckets. The cashier accepted my Dixie Direct card and marked the box. She then realized she had made a mistake and explained that I could not use my discount card since the items were already on sale. I was surprised by this because the Dixie Direct ad stated "$10.00 Off Any purchase of $50.00 or more." I filled out a Sportsman's survey and explained the situation. The next day I received a call from Donovan the manager. He apologized for the misunderstanding and explained that the cashier did follow the store's policy on discounts, and offered to mail me some coupons. Like most everything about this store, except; went to pay a charge for a pistol I bought at Christmas time. Customer service claims; "no credit card, cash only". How very, very stupid and inconvenient. Have a Explorerewards Visa and my personal Visa but no, the answer is the same cash only. I will not activate my Visa and will use my personal Visa card. The Three "C's" of Brick & Mortar: Customer service, Customer service, Customer service.... Why pay more $$ for a Garmin 64ST handheld GPS satellite unit from Sportsman's Warehouse, when I can buy it $50 less from an online store? John Shumway gave me EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE at the Sportsman's Warehouse store in St. George, Utah's store, that's why. John made my problem his problem !! I'm a novice hiker outdoor photographer, unfamiliar with GPS navigation. John took me & the unit outside of the store & taught me how to set-up & use the model he suggested, made by Garmin. He took the time pointing out subtle features the brand & model offered which would have taken me days to discover, without his tutoring. In short John provided "salt of the earth customer service," which I believe is the KEY to the survival of "Brick & Mortar" business. Calming a frantic customer with a patient human touch is far more satisfying than watching a YouTube instruction video, alone in my motel room. John owns the same unit so was very familiar & brought me up to speed quickly. I was in a hurry to drive to Escalante Staircase National Monument, & buying my Garmin was a last minute decision because nobody I called at The Utah Bureau of Land Management, at the monument, could tell me if cell phone service was available throughout the park so I could confidently use my iPhone GPS app. I had already driven more than 1,000 miles from The Silicon Valley to get these pics so why be cheap, lose the opportunity to pinpoint my tripod holes, for future reference & entering metadata when archiving. The extra time John spent with me gave me the confidence to set up & use my new GPS device before I paid for it. I set my new unit up during the dead time between ordering dinner & waiting for dinner to arrive later that day. If there is an argument for raising the minimum wage it's rewarding folks like John, who is probably working his way through college, but won't retire at this sporting good's store. Because of John's work ethic & integrity he not only saved me time learning to use my device, but allowed me to get more sleep before heading out at 3:00 a.m. to photograph The Milky Way, in Escalante.. Support the businesses that make your life easier! Often, the few extra dollars buying from great local business will pay dividends, reducing the stress you decided to rid yourself of by going on an R&R soul nurturing adventure in the first place. read more

I stopped in to pick up a Henry Rifle that I ordered on-line. I was met by a young sales associate that had a great attitude. He went above and beyond making my experience at Sportsman's worth my time. This was on 01.23.2021 @ 12:29 hours. I believe his name was Rorton #66. Pulling into the parking lot, my rental car felt very tiny and I was a bit intimidated going in because they really focus on hunting. Tons of camo, guns and other hunting stuff. Admittedly, I felt very out of place in my zip off hiking pants. But I also knew that it would have exactly what I needed: a ridiculous looking straw hat that would keep me from frying in the desert heat and I got it for $15. This is unbelievable! I'm getting ready for this fishing trip with my son. I have not been fishing in 12 plus years. My friends told me that I could go to Sportsmans Warehouse and they would reline on my fishing rod. As I'm not a very experienced fisherman I walked into Sportsmans Warehouse and they not only relined and oil my fishing rod but they showed me how to use it. I was very impressed with this guy in the shop department he didn't make me feel stupid. I was expecting to have the guy tell me my fishing rod was no good and I would have to buy a new one.
