Awful customer service! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS STORE OR ANY BIG 5 STORE. Bryan the relief manager doesn't know the first time about customer service, not a clue. Very rude and disrespectful, he admitted he doesn't care about customer service and neither does Big 5. I drove to the store after calling to confirm that the store had a 4 oz fuel canister, they didn't. The relief manager Bryan didn't even bother to check when I called, no apologies. This was one of the very few places in town that both carries tents and knows something about them. The woman who helped us was completely knowledgeable about the various features of the tents we were considering. She helped us decide based on our needs. In the end, we found the perfect Columbia tent and it was even on sale. We've used it several times now and it works perfectly...we love all the features including easy assembly. I realize right now with limited staffing customer service should go up and window shopping seems to be a thing of the past as of now. I needed some inexpensive work shoes and didnt expect a stroll down memory lane with the incredible shoe deals. I was promptly helped by Tyler and Dakota and am thankful for this location. Good convo and a great deal.. simple sales which most prefer. I walked out with four pairs of shoes. Emotional shopping far out weighs logical shopping but the price backs up that logic and I buy more. Always have what I need and more. Very efficient shopping with the help! read more

Not a bad place for sporting goods, but selection varies for each store. Clothing is a little pricey considering the style of store.

Good selection and customer service. Typical for a Big 5. My negatives with this place, or company rather, is that they don't do price adjustments. I missed the sale over the weekend and I know they have another starting in a couple days. I need my kids stuff now though. I asked if I could bring the receipt in for an adjustment and was told no. They will only exchange physical merchandise and give price difference. Terrible policy. A small concession is that they take online coupons so at least I saved a couple bucks somewhere. read more

I drove as fast and as safely I could in the snowy blizzard conditions tonight to get to the door of Big Five by 7:58. The manager was shutting the doors. He would not let me in even though I showed him the exact time on my phone and the sign on The door said 9 pm close. The website said close at 8. Screw those guys. Big five are big jerks. read more

I was here twice in one week.. Both experiences were just painful. Friday, my girlfriends and I went in to buy some gloves and snow boots. Nobody helped or even thought to, and the gal at the counter was just snobby. Came back to return a couple of things and the guy who was at the counter was very sweet, somewhat timid.. but I don't blame him considering his manager was just about one of the rudest people I have ever crossed paths with. My 7 year old daughter tried saying hi and tapped her arm and the lady just glared at her. Unbelievable. And furthermore, she went on questioning me about why we were returning and rolling her eyes at my responses. read more

How inconvenient... My magnet on my card went out and I asked if there was anyway to enter it in manually, the little blonde girl behind the counter put paper over my card which I explained wouldn't work because the magnetic strip was completely out and she placed it on the counter and said "sorry there is nothing we can do for you we can't enter it in manually" the manager was behind the counter also and he didn't say anything just gave me a funny look and walked away. Really what kind if store can't manually enter in a card! Won't shop here ever again. They were rude and condescending. The brown haired lady who was originally helping me out was very sweet! We drove across town to find Lacross gloves for my son before his game because he lost them. I called and specifically ask if they had youth Lacross gloves and they said yes. When I got there and asked they said they only had balls and sticks. read more

Came in today to get some hiking boots. The gentleman working in the back was so friendly and helpful. He was quick to give advice on which shoe would be best and got me a few sizes. He was very helpful. If my experience were based on him is give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately the girls working at the register were grumpy and really unfriendly. Never said hello, never asked if I needed help, didn't even say anything when I weet to check out. It wasn't very good customer service and quite frankly if it weren't for the really nice gentleman in the back, I would have just made my purchase elsewhere read more

Ran out of inner tubes by Sunday but did let me know that a new shipment was coming Tuesday. Had to wait but got my tube :) Didnt like waiting at the counter for 10 minutes while 3 people took their time showing a new person how to close out for the day. I don't usually write reviews, but the customer service was SO BAD in this store, that it needs mention. Hopefully someone in management will read this and realize they either need to change their training procedures, or their employees. I went into the store to buy my 8 year old grandson ALL the gear he would be needing to play Little League Baseball. We're talking bat, bat bag, batting helmet, baseball pants, sliders, socks, shoes, and even a gizmo to help him with batting practice. There were TWO girls behind the cash register. Time and time again, I kept going back and asking questions about this item or that. Every time we would decide on an item, my grandson would stack it on the counter. It was OBVIOUS that I didn't know what I was doing, and that I intended to spend a lot of money. Every time I would go and get one of the girls, she would follow me over, and do her best to answer my questions. One probably was that the one girl really didn't have many answers. Every time I was given an answer, the girl would leave without asking if I needed help with something else. FIVE or SIX different times, I had to go chasing down one of them for help. And now....I have to return the batting gizmo, because it is about worthless and doesn't perform as expected. The ONLY reason I am not giving this place a ONE star review is because no one was ever rude to me. Just poor, poor customer service, and poor product knowledge. read more

Bought a pair of name brand boots from here for a week-long hiking trip. The soles started falling apart towards the end of the trip. Brought the boots and receipt back to the store and I wasn't sure what to expect. The sales associate and manager were both extremely understanding of my situation and agreed the wear-and-tear on the boots was abnormal. They exchanged a new pair for me right on the spot! The whole process was extremely friendly and hassle-free. This is precisely why I buy my shoes almost exclusively from Big 5 on Mill Plain! read more

Horrible customer service. Interesting I tried to post a review earlier and it got erased. I was there today getting a pair of basketball shoes for my son and tried to use a coupon that I had purchased from the Camas football team. It's a multi use coupon that I used just the week previous for a pair of Nike shoes for my daughter. The girl checking me out wouldn't let me use it because she said I couldn't use it on under armor or Nike brand things. Altogether my purchase was $90 and she said I couldn't use it at all and she wouldn't even try to scan the coupon. I explained that I used it just the week before on another pair of Nike shoes and she refused to even try to scan it. I told her to keep the coupon because I wouldn't be back. This was the final straw for me... Every single time I have been there there aren't enough staff to help you select shoes and there really isn't a very good variety anyway. The staff is apathetic at best. The only reason I went there was because I had purchased last week with the coupon. You should be a lot smarter Big 5... There are a lot of other choices out there for athletic shoes and merchandise... read more
