This store is located in the same complex as the Papa John's, the store is in the back. Parking lot is spacious, but note several spots are reserved for the Heart Care center. The store itself carries a variety of discount products from clothes, kitchen, bath, stationery/cards, and food items. Note, most (if not all) items are not 99 cents - they range from $1.29 and up. However, you can find things (sometimes off-brand) at a cheaper cost than your usual drug stores. I was looking for New York souvenirs to bring to Europe for some friends and was grateful to find some here. Service was good, and store wasn't too crowded or hard to navigate. As with most 99 cent stores these days, not much is 99 cents anymore! Instead, items are $1.29, which is still a great price for most items. Of course, not ALL items in the store is $1.29 but most items are reasonably priced. This store is packed with merchandise, and the aisles can get a little cramped. But if you have some time to kill, it's worth an aisle by aisle browse. You just never know what you'll find! On most of my visits here, I'm looking for gift bags and/or wrapping paper. Have you ever noticed how expensive these items are in other stores?!?! Ridiculous since most gift receivers will just throw out the gift bags. I usually try to use reusable bags for gift bags but on those occasions when I need an actual gift bag, this is the place I come! Service is usually friendly and fast. This is more or less your typical 99 cent store, with the majority of things being way more pricey than 99 cents. Some of the items were priced comparable to CVS. These stores are great for party decor or gift wrapping things, but I would take a pass on the food items. I enjoy the hunt for the misspelled stuff and the items which have names that borderline just wrong. This store is in a very strange location behind the Papa Johns on New Hyde Park Rd. During the visit there was a customer giving the manager all kinds of grief over making a return. He kept telling her that it's all sales final, and she was saying his sign was not big enough. Hand some summer bucket and pails only 1.49! I bought this not for the intention of playing in the sand or dirt but to take a dirt cake! When i got home and while i was washing them i noticed one of the handles was broken. So i went back and with my receipt they didnt give me a problem i was relieved!! Sometimes i feel they might because the merchandise is cheap! Also i found some gummy frogs. Never saw those before. They did not carry any gummy worms. The name says it all- almost. This is kind of what you think a .99 cent store should look like if you close your eyes and imagine one. Stuff us crammed in every conceivable corner and from floor to ceiling in this place - which makes looking around half the fun. Most of the stuff is pure junk, but you can get some little knick knacks if you search hard enough- I really needed a cheapie flower pot for my tomato plant and scored one for $2.25. Which brings me to my next point- not everything is a dollar in this particular dollar store, but to be fair, they do mark those items pretty well so it would be a hard argument at the front desk to make. The lady at the register is a tough as nails little Indian woman and there was a lot of haggling going on with some of the patrons- I just paid and moved on. Interesting place to kill a half hour. Would have given zero stars if there was an option. I normally go to any one of a number of Dollar Tree stores, but went here since it's closer to my job. Place is jammed with stuff, as one would expect. I had one of their small shopping carts and an employee didn't want me to pass down the aisle he was assisting to stock. He finally moved over. Then I asked if they carried a certain product and got a curt NO! Anyway, I had to make an almost $15 purchase of pre-holiday necessities. When I asked the cashier (apparently the owner) if they take credit cards, his snotty teenage daughter said, "Only if you spend at least $10!" Another rude comment during my brief stay. She and her teenage brother were horsing around when they should have been working or at home or somewhere else. I guess schools are closed today. I will never return to this store. read more

Ok 99 cent store where almost everything is actually over a dollar. I feel like these types of stores shouldn't even be called dollar stores. Stuff is packed on to the shelves & they're narrow aisles .While there are some decent things to be found there are also alot of things not worth a dollar individually. I also didn't like the way we were followed around the store particularly my daughter. I kept seeing someone watching as we were browsing.At one point my daughter was looking at a toy on the counter when a rude older woman appeared to scold her meanwhile there were some Indian children knocking the beanie babies off a display unto the floor and she didn't harass them. Due to this even though there were some ok things and I did purchase a few items I will not be patronizing this particular store again .Also I forgot to mention that a younger woman at the register seemed upset when we opted to use our debit & credit cards to pay. She was complaining in another language with a man and kept mentioning credit card in English while speaking in their language. I felt like despite the fact my mother and I had spent over $20 respectively they felt inconvenienced by having to accept that form of payment . I just love, love, love this .99 Cent Store!!! They have a little bit of EVERYTHING!! INCLUDING: *arts and crafts, party supplies (with really cool, inexpensive party favors! So...if you are hosting a baby/bridal shower, consider this as a stop for sure!) *health and beauty items, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair styling products, lotions, some name brand facial cleansers that are reasonably priced! make-up, etc... *household goods, such as sheets, blankets, pillows, throw rugs, all bathroom items, shower curtains, plungers, cleaning gloves, a plethora of cleaning products for every inch of your house, NOTE: if ya got creepy crawly critters in your house, they have the cure...even for those pesky bed bugs and the lightning fast reproducing roaches! Mirrors, cheap art, picture frames...Basically, if you need it for your home and you don't want to pay an arm and a leg, visit this store! What turned me off to this store were the people running the store. They were rude. The owner even tried to accuse me of messing up the packaging of an item and even tried to force me to pay for it. i went to the 1720 lakeville rd store. the old woman behind counter has been there for years - most likely related to younas. i went t buy shelf liners. the multiple items were clearly marked $1.29. she rings up $1.99 ea. she saw they were clearly marked $1.29, yet she insisted $1.99 and ripped off price labels, and rudely asked if i wanted it or not. i said no, she said next, and tossed the item behind her. what a waste of time! rather go to the dollar tree where items are actually $1 - no hassles. read more
