I forgot to get a photo of the pizza unfortunately, but while in Manistee with my parents we got a pizza from Big Al's delivered to our hotel. My husband has been trying to cut back on red meat, so on our half we got chicken. My parents got olives and onion on their half, which also looked good. We devoured our dinner after a long day of exploring and beach walking. The pricing to get our pizza delivered wasn't too bad, the delivery driver was very friendly and the food was fantastic. Those three things being the trifecta when it comes to restaurants has made this pizza place an obvious choice for us to revisit when on vacation again. I would definitely recommend coming here for pizza when in Manistee. read more

We ordered this for delivery and then ended up coming by the shop to get some pictures. It was great pizza. The sauce was good little spicy. The toppings were plentiful. We got sausage, pepper, pepperoni, and mushrooms. It was so good the crust was a little floppy, but halfway in and all the way to the edge it was incredible crispy, and excellent with a great cheese flavor. Some of the best pizza I have had in a long time. If you are in Manistee big Al's is worth the effort. Service was good. They delivered it to our room with a smile on his face and he was very friendly. Not sure what the restaurant looks like inside, but prices were pretty good and the pizza was great. Camping in Manistee and decided to try Big Al's Pizza 7 min from our campground. Very busy at 6:00PM, I understand that is a typical thing. Older building, but don't judge a book by its cover!! Ample parking, outside deck with multiple large tables with umbrellas to eat your food. Inside dining, put your order in and pay and they call your name when it's ready. There were at least 5 guys in the kitchen preparing food, they were organized and keeping the food orders moving. This place has a cult following and I can see why. We ordered subs to go and it took about 15 min before our name was called. Large menu and choices to choose from. They do a huge carry out business, plus you can eat inside or outside. The guys working were all pleasant I must say. Our subs were just delicious, we got white bread, toasted, bread was freshly baked and so good. The toppings were fresh and a generous amount and veggies were fresh, big sandwich and we enjoyed every bite, yum!! Very reasonable prices for the amount of food they give you. Amazing subs! Great service! This is a classic pizza spot in Manistee! You really can't leave Manistee without trying this place! They have a huge team prepping food, taking orders and serving. The restaurant is always super warm inside so be warned! But there is lots of seating booth style, table style and a couple of picnic tables outside. They also have a bench for you outside if your waiting for an order. Parking is snug but not difficult as it's onsite. They are very busy, always! They always have great specials that vary on the day - you can find them up on the whiteboard before you order. This is a an order and pay first place, then you sit! They call out your name and bring you your order. You can purchase fountain drinks or bottled drinks! The subs are packed full of toppings and are delicious! Breadsticks are pretty big too! We always get the cheese sauce! Our favorite things are the Chicago style pizzas, Stromboli (an absolute must), and the subs. Although the pizza is great we feel it's way to greasy for us and can't really eat more than a bite or two of it. Overall this is a great local spot, with a ton of great food options that is always busy! You can really tell they support their community and patrons too by allowing them to advertise their business upon entering! My kids also love playing the arcade games and toy prize machines. This place is a nice local dive. The service was quick, the staff was professional, and the prices were fair. We dined in, but I have to admit that the location could use a bit of cleaning. The restaurant was petty busy as we arrived at lunchtime, but they were moving at a quick pace. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, and it was delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and my pizza was made to order. The portion sizes are quite large, so bring your appetite. I would return to this location for a quick lunch. Everyone else in my crew had the Stromboli, and that seems to be their signature dish, and everyone seemed to be very satisfied with their order. THIS is the place to get pizza! Came here when we were camping a a local friends property and I have to say that in our party of 11 the average rating was an 8.5-9! Sure if your favorite pizza style is Neapolitan wood fired (which mine is) it won't compare at all...but for your run of the mill non-chain pizza places this is a solid go to if you are in the mood for pizza that isn't flowing with grease! Big Al's Pizza was recommended to me and my friends as the place that locals crave, so we stopped in on a rainy evening while camping at Orchard Beach State Park for some dinner. Luckily we were able to dine in because it was either that or eating in the car, safe from the rain! My friend told us to get the stromboli so of course we ordered that with some sauce on the side. We also ended up getting cheese bread and a huge pizza with sausage, bacon, and green peppers. Surprise surprise, it was a ton of food. The stromboli was definitely a 10/10 winner, with nicely toasted crust and packed with fillings. The sauce wasn't too sweet and was great for dipping. The cheese bread was covered in a thick layer of melted cheese - so delicious! If you don't like cheese, definitely don't even think about these. Finally, the pizza was good, but man the bottom crust was super soggy. The toppings were ample and deliciously fresh, but maybe a little over topped for the poor thin crust. It just couldn't stand up to the mountain of toppings. We had to eat the pizza with a plastic knife and fork. We would definitely go back to Big Al's for another stromboli! I stopped here with my family while driving back late in the day from Northern Michigan. I selected this restaurant based on reviews. The food smelled great when we walked in, but if I had looked carefully before I ordered, we would have walked out. This was the filthiest restaurant I have ever been in. The floor and walls were visibly grimy and the bathroom was worse. It's unbelievable that the health inspector hasn't shut them down. DONT EAT HERE! First of all, the outside is run down. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt... but the bathrooms... grimy and nasty. We go to order, the lady is placing deli meat with the no gloves. Half the employees look nasty. They go to make my Philly cheesesteak... I watch her take COOKED MEAT out of a literal ziplock bag and spread it with her bare hands... not to mention the amount of hickeys on her neck. I get the sub and the bread is so dark and the meat is still cool.... I ate 3 bites and feel nasty. Not to mention there is no AC in the store. I go to get a refill, the table I leaned against stuck to my shorts... only two people seen with gloves on my entire visit and no hand sink seen. I saw two workers touch trash cans and not one washed their hands. Only one serve safe certificate and no health score in sight. 0/100 it was the most disappointing and disgusting place, it should be shut down. Stopped in here on the way back from downtown Manistee to Arcadia, as we saw it on the way and it sounded like a cool small town pizza joint. And that it was! The interior reminded me of like a roller rink cafe area in the late 90s? Not in an offputting way. Dated but somehow familiar. They have a decent size seating area so it's definitely not just for carry out. As soon as we came in, we saw the ad for their Valentines special, a large heart shaped pink pizza with 2 toppings, plus 2 pieces of cheesecake and a 2 liter. We got that without looking at anything else, but I did notice they have basically a full menu. Had I been alone, their special dill pickle pizza would have been mine! We got a pizza with pineapple and bacon, and yes the crust was heart shaped and pink! It came out in maybe 15 minutes or so. We thought it was great! No frills, tasty pizza. We got a regular pizza so I can't speak to the authenticity of their Chicago style. Honestly my expectations were low, but I was quite impressed! We were thrilled that this place was open to 12:00 midnight and offered many options besides just pizza. From what I've been told, their pizza is quite good. We opted for the submarine sandwiches, and they have many to choose from. My steak and cheese sub was delicious along with the antipasti salad I ordered. The menu also included several pasta dishes and stromboli. I noticed a sign indicating they were celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year (2022). We were in the Mainstee area this past weekend with a large group and wanted to order in some pizza. This place was absolutely amazing! The pizza quality is great and they are very generous with meat on the pizza. We ordered a mega meat and it was by far the most meat we have seen on a pizza. The chicken pizza was great too.
