I called in because of water damage that was now warping my floors. I wanted to know if anything was growing underneath it. During the inspection, David walked me through the process with ease and with utmost professionalism. I knew this guy was trust worthy and would not sell me on something not needed. This was a balm for my freaked-out mind. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I didn't receive my results of my assessment in a timely manner and had to call in for it. It's a minor detail but when you're advised you will be contacted within 3 days for your test results, you expect to be contacted. This is mold and you want to know asap if you have mold. For whatever reason, I wasn't sent the results earlier but it was promptly sent to me when I called in with an apology. Is this a deal-breaker? No way. Once again David came to the rescue over the course of 12 months. First we had several sewer backups in the basement and David's crew came in and cleaned up the mess. After we replaced a section of the sewer pipe we came to realize we had mold in the basement. After the treatment David's team followed up and did the proper air tests which revealed we still had mold issues. So the Sheetrock ceiling was methodically removed and the exposed areas properly treated. This was a slow and respectful process. David's team did the work in sections to try and limit the scope of the work and keep the costs down. After several air tests and further treatment as needed, the basement is now mold free. Then we discovered that the entire interior of our 3 car garage was also covered in mold (from a leaky roof and poor air flow in the garage). As I scan down the long list of 4 and 5 star reviews for Big Apple, I am reminded of why I decided to go with their service in the first place. Their customer reviews were excellent, and their prices very competitive. My experience with BAMR was as follows: Their staff, and owner, are all very personable and easy to work with. That alone is huge and should not be minimized in any way. Without a team that is willing and able to work with you, everything else falls apart. I actually had two sessions done. I ordered their basic testing, which was done by one of their inspectors. Very nice, very informative. Unfortunately there was some confusion in the testing (I do not know if this was on their end or the lab's). The end result was that we had less than 100% confidence in the test results. Some companies would have argued this, or simply refused to remedy any issues. BAMR went old school on it and IMMEDIATELY called back to arrange for another inspection. In this next inspection, David the owner came himself along with an assistant. They went up and down taking far more tests, notes, photos, etc. than had been part of the first inspection. The second inspection, and all of the tests they did, were all done for free. They did not charge me a nickle for any redo, nor for all of the testing that went beyond what I had originally ordered and paid for. Plus, they rushed the lab work. I could not recommend the service more. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars as there were some issues and that should be reflected here. But if there was a half star option, I would have given 4.5. I'll add that the first inspection was done on the weekend, and they got the report to me very quickly. The second inspection appointment was made rather quickly as well. I'm so impressed with Big Apple Mold Removal! I have had mold issues in my apartment for years and my landlord has previously sent another company to come twice and do an air quality test--which I am pretty sure they falsified the results because the mold presence is obvious. I'm moving from the apartment and wanted to check that my furniture would be safe to move- I didn't want to take any furniture with mold to my new place. I spoke with David on the phone and he was very kind and helpful and promised me that they would act quickly due to my limited timeframe and that they would only recommend remediation efforts if absolutely necessary. David most definitely delivered on his promise. Within a couple of days, Kenny came to my apartment at a time that was convenient for me to do a free consultation. He was great with communication before the visit and came within the agreed window. After a leak 7 floors above me caused warped floorboards in my hallway, I wanted to bring in an independent inspection company because my landlord wasn't acknowledging the possibility of additional damage. I chose Big Apple based on their excellent Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did. The inspector (who also turned out to be the Owner, David) showed up at the appointed time (next day service no less) and called me well in advance to notify my of his arrival time. David was very thorough, doing both Thermal temperature scans to identify problem areas as well as humidity measurements to check for residual water from the leak. He also took multiple air samples for mold spore analysis. The entire process was flat out enjoyable (as far as learning your walls are soggy can be). David is personable, eager to explain the entire process, and I never felt rushed, or under a time constraint. I can't speak to the renovation/remediation aspect as I'm sure my building management will likely handle the repairs themselves, but the inspection service was A+. Our experience with Big Apple Mold was excellent. Of the companies I interviewed to remediate mold in my mother's apartment, Big Apple seemed the most knowledgeable, David, the owner that is. We had numerous roadblocks to overcome, including unusually high insurance requirements by the coop. Big Apple was always positive throughout this lengthy and often discouraging process. Annabelle their office manager made everything so smooth and was always super prompt in answering questions or requests. And patient too. When we finally got the green light, the team they sent was well trained, pro active, hard working and friendly (Kirk,Jaime and Kevin) . You just had to ask once, and they went the extra mile. They also worked well with the air monitor that we were required to hire by our building. The job was finished on schedule and air scrubbers were left to run for several days.
