This U-haul location is a true scam. This business charged me $208 for 27 gallons of fuel and $30 service charge on a full tank of gas when I dropped my 10ft u-haul off. 82 miles was total miles traveled. I had 71 miles allowed before $1 per mile chatge applied. There was no inspection no confirmation of return provided. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE...

    Dirty Stall #1

I never write reviews on Yelp, because I know it could affect potential business, but this was just unacceptable. I would steer far away from this place. It's dirty to the point where there was a literal roach right next to the hot food bar. Also the bathrooms are even worse. Place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages.

Was it just one of those things that screamed 1960s? Was it one of those peculiar instances where something seems so out of sorts? Spokane already is one of those cities that doesn't really have common sort to it so there's no making 100% sense of this. But today I had a chance to look more into it. This building just screams 1960s! Like every single aspect of it. The angles, the large, curved sign that's on top of the elevator shaft, the elevators which I think are original from the day it opened, to the awnings outside that connect to the skywalks. I mean really! They should film a movie here. Anyway I went in on a Sunday evening and even though the signs said it closed at 6:30, they said you could use your ticket to get in and pay after hours. It made me a bit nervous knowing that if no one was there, I wouldn't be able to get to my car. But more on that later. I parked on the top floor for fun and the top floor actually has a pretty good view! The ceiling goes very high so you don't feel very claustrophobic up there. There's views all around and everything is still screaming 1960s. The elevator ride down was jerky and quick. Definitely made in the time when elevators gave people motion sickness. I went and saw my movie down the street and as I returned after 830, I had my ticket in hand. I went back to the elevator door and the sign clearly said scan your ticket to gain entrance. I did and the door unlocked giving me access to the elevator bay. I went back up to my car, drove down the quick circular ramp that's sort of like an expressway down, and got to the end. I put my ticket in, followed with a credit card, and voila I was out! But wait! There was a gate blocking my way out to the street. No worries though, A sign indicates to drive up to it and it will magically open. And it did. The ramps are steep, the architecture is something out of a movie, and my experience was great. May they never tear this place down...

I had been debating about whether to stop here after hiking some of the trails past the main entrance of the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge and decided to stop because the pull-off had ample space for me to park and a sign denoting the pull-off corresponding to the National Natural Landmark was easy to spot from the road. From the parking area there is a short gravel path to a vista/viewing point that looks out over the channeled scablands. This viewing area has a few informational placards with information about the history of the area and about the importance of the natural habitat the area provides for wildlife. A number of small trails branched away from the vista/viewing point that I chose not to explore. I enjoyed stopping here and it tickled my tastebuds to do more exploring in the vein of past geology projects of mine. In my sedimentology and stratigraphy course as an undergraduate training in geology and geophysics one of my focus projects was on the channeled scablands. I chose the topic because the word scablands was not familiar to me. Funny enough, the channeled scablands ended up being in my home state (Washington State)! So stopping here carried a large sentimental meaning to me. Even if the channeled scablands have not been a focus of your professional activities I recommend stopping here. The location provides a good view of the scablands and a great cursory background of the importance of the area in understanding Earth's (natural) history.
