For those not worried about gluten the pizza also comes on standard pizza crust. There are also sandwiches and delicious desserts. It's a family run winery, and our server (the daughter) was really on top of things and made sure that our afternoon was perfect. I really couldn't think of a better way to enjoy a summer afternoon. I found this great winery because I'm doing the pour tour and it wasn't that far from an area I was…read morein. I was pleasantly surprised at what a charming and great place it is. It was interesting to be driving in a residential neighborhood and suddenly see vineyards. I bet it is gorgeous in the spring and summer! When I came in, they were pretty busy, but I was greeted immediately. There were a few tables with groups that looked like they were having a blast. One group with quite a spread of snacks and wine (they have had a cute tablecloth on the winery's table) and a couple who were enjoying a bottle of wine and a cooler's worth of snacks they brought on their own. Since I was new to the winery, I decided to try the sample flight. For $8, I was able to sample five different wines. If you purchase three or more bottles, the sampling is free. It was tough to narrow it down to 5 because they had so many intriguing sounding options. I settled on a Saperavi, pinotage, cabernet franc, apple and black raspberry. I really enjoyed each of them, my favorite being their cabernet franc (which is my favorite wine). The Saperavi was a close second, though. You mark your choices on a paper and then your samples are brought to your table. They are in small plastic cups and labeled by number, but you are given a wine glass to actually taste the sample. This was a nice touch because wines can definitely taste different in a glass vs plastic cup. The server spent time with me talking about each wine, the history of the winery, where the grapes are grown (some right on property, most of the others are from somewhere in PA). She also told me they are releasing a new Cabarnet Franc sometime soon which I'm definitely going to check their social media to see when it is released to sample it and hopefully buy a few bottles. I really enjoyed the wines here and my overall experience and will be back!

Not only were the eggs already blown out but a penciled in grid was already on the eggs. Our instructor was the mother/mother-in-law of the winery owners. By no stretch of the imagination are we Martha Stewart but 3 adults and 3 children (ages 8 to 14) had a good time. We were able to purchase flights of wine, glasses, and bottles. All of their wine is bottled in very pretty cobalt blue glass. The winery is off the beaten path. It is located about an hour from downtown Pittsburgh. Directions are very easy ... 51 South then just a couple turns and you are at their front door. Looking forward to returning when there are grapes on the vines.

Bella Terra Vineyards is a winery, restaurant, and event venue in the small town of Hunker in…read moreWestmoreland County. It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

Sweet Diamond and dry Riesling from Washington. The wine waitress should have said do the diamond last since it's sweet. We started to try the reds. The Merlot tasted like a traditional Merlot. Noiret was good. Old Vine Zinfandel was super dry and wasn't a fan of it. The Marquette is a wine that I do not sample often . It was fabulous. Aged in bourbon barrels for two years. She asked if I like bourbon and said yes. She said you will like this. She was right . Dry but a good taste towards the end. My two things that I dislike. The white wine isn't chilled. They provide you ice if you prefer. Ice waters up the wine and takes the taste away. The Marquette I purchased a bottle if and it's great. But it's $38 a bottle and around here that doesn't fly. Overall great place. I look forward to visiting in the upcoming months.

She answered my questions about the history of the winery, the origin of the grapes and fruit (both local and from the Lake Erie region). I was excited to see they had a cab franc. It is one of my favorites and isn't that common. They had a variety of dry and sweet reds and whites, fruit wines and also sell pre packaged wine skushies (because they don't have a slushie machine on site). Overall a nice variety of wines that were enjoyable. Definitely a place I'd visit again.

I ordered the combo wine (I forget what they call it) where they pair some of their pepper wine with their sweet wine. It is absolutely delicious because the sweetness of the paired wine cuts down some of the hit of the hot one. It was a bit expensive at $10 a glass, but I guess since it was two wines it was more expensive than the other glasses. The store itself is nicely set up. There are more comfortable couches and chairs and then in the back of the store more traditional tables and chairs. They have a variety of wine themed gifts to purchase.
