The owner takes very much pride in the upkeep of the lighthouse! The community space and access to the lighthouse balcony is amazing!! The perfect place to watch the sunset and get a true feel of the surrounding area. Breakfast was wonderful and enjoyed from the gazebo as we watched the sunrise. I cannot get ahold of anyone. Phone numbers don't work and emails are not returned. My sister has a GC that I purchased for her, but she cannot enter their confirmation code into their system. Sad to say, this isn't the first time. I have purchased GC's for other members of my family and they have had issues with entering in their information as well. My husband and I stayed here last september 2023. My mission when visiting the upper peninsula was to see all the lighthouses and water falls that were possible. when I came across this lighthouse I was ecstatic especially since it is bed and breakfast. Nick made a very nice breakfast with egg muffins, sausage, yogurt and fresh berries. When we arrived he had homemade chocolate chip cookies and tea and coffee. We ate our breakfast outside sitting on the blue Adirondack chairs overlooking Lake Superior.We stayed in the Jenny Beamer room which I loved. At night you could see the lighthouse beam go across the window. The room was clean and decorated perfectly. We sat in the parlor were the frensal bulb was located. Since we were staying there we were able to climb the lighthouse at anytime. We walked up on sunset and sunrise. It was the most spectacular view you would ever see. We had our lunch at the gazebo located on the grounds. Nick works very hard at keeping the grounds and the lighthouse well manicured. We stayed at the Big Bay Point Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast in August for four nights. We used it as a base for exploring the surrounding UP. The inn/lighthouse is the only active lighthouse that is privately owned and operated as a bed and breakfast. The owner and innkeeper, Nick, is a wonderful host. His passion for lighthouses is amazing, and is reflected in the care exhibited throughout the property. As a staying guest, you have access to a part of the lighthouse tower where you can sit and watch the sun set or rise. After sunset, you can watch the beacon as it shines over the lake. The lighthouse and rooms were decorated with comfort and style in mind. There are plenty of cozy nooks inside where you can have a glass of wine and enjoy the ambiance with your favorite novel. The same can be said for the surrounding grounds. They're simply immaculate. There is plenty of outdoor seating around the property where you can enjoy the views of Lake Superior. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were clean. The breakfasts were beautifully prepared, presented, filling, and tasty. Since the area is remote, internet access is limited, but not unwelcome. Instead of looking at a phone, we enjoyed expansive views of Lake Superior. There is plenty of parking. The lighthouse was a great base for visiting the UP. Nearby Big Bay is a unique draw for true crime buffs who want to know more about the event, book, and subsequent Hollywood film, Anatomy of a Murder. Don't worry - it happened back in 1952. The Lumberjack Tavern and the Thunder Bay Inn are available for lunch and dinner. If you're looking for a wider selection of dining establishments, bustling Marquette is an easy 30-minute drive. If you're reading this with just an interest in visiting the lighthouse, you'll be disappointed. This is a private residence. There are no regular visiting hours. We suggest checking the innkeeper's website to find out if and when tours are available, and plan well in advance. Better yet, plan a stay at the lighthouse for yourself or with a significant other. We stayed at the lighthouse for two nights while dropping our kids off at Northern Michigan University. What a wonderful place! The rooms and grounds were beautiful. The Inn Keepers had wonderful stories to share about the history of the lighthouse. You can tour all of the grounds and go in to the light tower itself. The breakfasts were delicious and served with wonderful conversation by our hosts. We most very recommend a stay! read more

We had been eyeing this B&B for our 40th anniversary, traveled nearly 1000 miles to get there, and we were not disappointed! Nick, the owner, is an honest-to-goodness lighthouse keeper! The real deal! He knows all the history, and the place is a cross between a museum and "House Beautiful." Everything has been totally redone. The decorating is gorgeous and the views and property are stunning. Nick is an wonderful cook and we had the best conversations with others over a huge (properly socially distanced) delicious breakfast. We could climb to the top of the lighthouse at any time and it was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend - worth every penny! read more

The lighthouse and grounds are beautiful, Nick is a great cook, he is really helpful, & he knows everything about the history of lighthouses! WOW. what an amazing place!! I would give 10 stars if I could! We stayed 4 nights and would have loved to stay longer. Peaceful, beautiful, cozy. If you want to unplug, recharge and relax this is the place to do that! The rooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is prepared fresh and was wonderful. Nick, the owner and host was fabulous he made sure you had everything you needed and was so knowledgeable about the area and the lighthouse. Made suggestions for day trips and he made a point to ask everyone each morning about their previous day. During breakfast he would tell stories and experiences from the lighthouse, I could have listened all day! We are already planning our next trip for next year! read more

What can I say - we LOVED this place, and wished that we had booked a longer stay. We were in the Keeper Dufrain room and it was spacious and light-filled with comfortable furnishings. It's wonderful to be able to open the window and hear Lake Superior and feel the fresh breeze. There's a fireplace for extra warmth and coziness - I could imagine spending a couple of wonderful winter nights here. What really makes this place special, aside from it's amazing location, is how welcoming the innkeepers and staff are! We were greeted and given a brief tour of the inn and common areas, including the library with its access to the lighthouse tower. Everywhere you turned, there were thoughtful touches - from the coffeemaker in the room, to a Keurig and cookies in the dining area, a fridge for guest usage, and some small candies on the nightstand! There is a beautiful common area on the main floor where there are comfortable seating areas and plenty of things to read. If you want to watch a movie, up the second floor to the library. I preferred to climb up the lighthouse staircase and enjoy the amazing sunset and star gazing from the lighthouse. If you look to the west, you can see the Huron Mountains. There are beautiful grounds, with a charming gazebo. We didn't have time to explore the property, but there are plenty of places to explore. The inn also offers a sauna, and massage services, but again, we didn't have enough time to enjoy it all. I am hoping that we will have another opportunity to stay here again - in every season! read more

My wife and I went for our anniversary, I wasn't that excited but was being a good husband. Much to my surprise, I loved it! The owners were lovely and made the history of the lighthouse and area come to life. We had the Keeper Dufrain room. It was spacious and comfortable. The atmosphere is so peaceful and being someone who is as comfortable riding my cycle as I am sitting, I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed it. It's like life just pauses. The multiple sitting area and places out side to take walks along the amazing bluff of the shores of Lake Superior, add the the visit. The owners pay very close attention to every detail to make your stay special. Even the towel rack in our room was heated. Having the fireplace in our room really set the mood. It's quiet at night like not possible most places. Truly the most peaceful place I have ever stayed. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would!! I absolutely love lighthouses and plan vacations around them. I have wanted to stay in one for a long time- serious bucket list item. I am so glad that my first stay at a lighthouse was at this one. We stayed in late July-early August. The new owner Nick is so friendly and puts the H in hospitality. The food was very tasty. He often stays up late to bake something so it will be fresh for the next morning. I loved that we had access to the light any time. I saw a sunset, moonrise and sunrise all in about 8 hours time. A truly magical experience. I felt at all times like we were part of the family rather than just guests. He has decorated it quite tastefully and is continuing work on sprucing up the keeper's quarters and the lighthouse. The views were magnificent and I didn't want to leave. Spent several evenings talking with Nick about our mutual love of lighthouses. I would go back here in a heartbeat. read more
