Came here with some of my family with high hopes. The advertising and aesthetics of the brand is honestly really great. We miraculously found parking right in front of the door, and when we stepped inside we all kinda gave a look to each other. The inside does not match the advertising. There were flies EVERYWHERE, the place looked a little unkept, there was a bar full of drunks, including one that kept hitting on my underage niece. There was another drunk that literally came up to our table and held us hostage with his droning on and on about who knows what. We were trying to be polite but also giving him many hints that we didn't enjoy the conversation. When the food FINALLY came it was honestly very unappealing. Nothing looked like what we thought it would. One of the burritos was stuffed with fries to an excessive degree. And my burrito was actually soggy... and not by any delicious juices coming from the food. It honestly felt as though it had gotten wet before it was used to wrap up the ingredients. sooooo yummy and tasty! my friend and i went to their food truck they had over at northeast dragway and everything was exceptional!! i had ordered the street corn and guacamole and chips and my friend ordered the philly cheesesteak burrito and some french fries. all the entrees were really tasty and packed with flavor! it's was so good my friend and her husband went back for seconds before they left the racetrack! the service was great also! the gentleman who took our order was very polite and pleasant to talk to! their area was set up very nicely making the ambience very enjoyable! we will definitely be back again or going to their actual restaurant! 100/10 read more

Making our way around Elizabeth City on foot, we made a point to go to Big Boss Burritos. We wish we turned right around and walked out. The restaurant was dingy, hot and sticky with way too many flies buzzing around. Party of 5 had to squeeze into a tiny booth as our only option. The restaurant wasn't crowded, that's just all they have available for seating. Menu was modest, but we all found something we'd like. Food came out inconsistently. 3 out of 5 plates first then the other 2 about 15 minutes later. Poor choice of plate for the restaurant.. 18" long rectangle for each of us already squeezed into a booth that was too small. Service was focused on a bar of a few regular drunks. Food was nothing impressive. No flavor to the burrito ordered. Big Boss needs a major overhaul. read more

Definitely doesn't look much when you walk by downtown Elizabeth City but don't let that fool you. The burritos are ginormous and really good! Decided to try their Jalisco style tacos with steak on this visit. The tacos were flour tortillas with a bed of cilantro lime rice topped with sliced steak and pico de gallo. It was a generous serving with 3 tacos filled with generous quantities of filling. The only disappointment was that the steak was on the salty side. I also got 2 different salsas...a lighter tomatillo based one and a brighter red one that was supposed to be very spicy. Honestly neither was that spicy to me. I also ordered some guacamole & chips. We came to Elizabeth City and the surrounding area in a whim. We stopped at Big Boss for lunch with the kiddos. They were great. My daughters steak on her taco lacked flavor and it was a little dry. Made a drive from Moyock to Elizabeth City and saw a cool little sign that grabbed our attention. Big boss burritos definitely has earned its name in my books as I plan to drive back again and try the rest of their food. Starting from the service; Olivia was so sweet and made sure we were taken care of, gave me a recommendation when I was in between two dishes. She recommended the OMG fries and they definitely stood by their name. I saw online they had Micheladas and coming from San Diego I can be picky about them and it was perfectly mixed! The wife got a Big Boss Burrito (B.B.B) she said it was delicious! And had a side of a Margarita of course. I was super excited to try this place, everyone on here seemed to rave about it. Got three different burritos and a keto bowl. My burrito had fries in when it was a Philly steak burrito, and did not say it contained fries. The rice tastes old and dry. The chorizo burrito had chunks of hard rice and weird crunchy things in it. The only good thing was the Keto Bowl, but so over priced for some lettuce and sour cream. One of my favorite spots in Elizabeth City! I am from San Diego and let me tell you, it is hard to find comparable Mexican food on the opposite coastline. I have not had a single disappointing meal from Big Boss Burritos. The queso dip and handmade tortilla chips are great, the margaritas are just right, and don't even get me started on the homemade salsas. As far as the burritos go- when they say big, they mean BIG. My favorite meal I've had at Big Boss Burrito hands down was their Big Boss Ginormous Quesadilla, which like the burrito, is truly, ginormous. We use to love going to Big Boss but the food lately has been bland, hearing of a recent incident, and then walking into a mostly empty bar being pressured to do karaoke with the music suddenly being so loud I can't hear the bartender a foot away....
