Staff waz hustling and ambiance was super casual. Our waiter was friendly, and constantly checked on us throughout the meal. No waiting on drink refills or extra red salsa. I did a Taco Salad which was pretty good with a crisp shell and filled with beef & beans. I used the door dash app to place and pickup my order. This place is popular so I had to visit. The door dash app was easy to use after finding 3 Amigos on YELP. I got a Taco Salad for my wife and a Nachos Supreme for myself. I must say my order was processed quickly and was waiting for me when I arrived for pickup. The local and visitor crowd coming in had smiles all around and the customers that were leaving all seemed jubilant and satisfied. The bar was busy and the drinks that I could see from my vantage point looked colorful and very inviting. The music was light and upbeat. It gave off a pleasant vibe of nice and family friendly. My nachos supreme was filling and well balanced with all the required ingredients for a very well prepared Nachos Supreme. The Taco Salad was presented in the shell with fresh ingredients. The staff was welcoming and I didn't need to sit because my order was waiting. They were busy but took the time to greet me and everyone that came in behind me. As the saying goes, don't judge a book (restaurant) by its cover (size). My wife and I stopped in Elizabeth City for a few days on our way to Topsail island. We decided on 3 Amigos for dinner. It's a good size restaurant so I was expecting mid level Mexican. WRONG! The parking lot was packed and we were seated as we walked in. The atmosphere is comfortable and not over the top. The staff were friendly and attentive even the guys cooking said hi. Okay, okay the food was authentic! They brought out the chips and two salsas. The red was good (but, I do enjoy a bit more picante) and then they had a blanco that seemed like a spicy ranch blend (different) but enjoyable. Chips were nice although we did salt them and they could have been warm (just me). I had to try the pork carnitas and they didn't NOT disappoint. The flavor was spot on. That delicious roasted pork with its mild spices and a hint of sweet. Served with the salad rice and well seasoned refried beans. My wife went for the Birria tacos! Bam! Again the flavor we spot on. From the tenderness of the beef to the onion /cilantro garnish and let's not forget that consommé broth. The flavor hit perfectly. A few things for me that would send 3 Amigos over the top. A nice green salsa (I like the spice) warm tortilla chips always hit better. Roasted jalapeños or (my favorite) Serranos. This is a solid 4.5 The reviews didn't disappoint! I wish I took picture of the food I had seen from my last visit in this restaurant. Service is great, Ambiance was okay, I ordered Peña Hawaiiana and side of cactus. I loved grilled cactus, the problem was, my two scoop eating the Pena Hawaiiana saw an inch long of hair stuck together with the shrimp and cheese. I called my waitress / bartender because I was dining by the bar area, and showed her the fork with food that has hair stuck on it.. She said, there's no female in the kitchen, therefore the hair should not be coming from the people who cook food there, she stated could be coming from blowing from the fan or something but not from the cook. So! My question was so the surrounding is not clean if there's dust or hair flying everywhere? She apologized but damaged was done. They made me a new one or " not new dish" to replace it. I still paid for my whole entire bills nothing was removed, so I paid the full amount with 15% tips. Why still give tip? It wasn't her fault, she wasn't a cook. But she could removed the item from the bill. I didn't want her to think I create those issue and want free food, I paid the entire bill and gave tip. BUT!!!! I will NO longer give them business again due to the UNSANITARY CONCERNS. Too bad I did enjoy going there for margarita! Lol so!!! This is just to give other customers awareness! The ambiance was nice. This place genuinely looks like it would have some authentic Mexican food. I'm sure it represents a region, just not one I'm familiar with. Huge complicated menu! The enchilada sauce tasted canned and thickened up with lots of flour or cornstarch. The rice was good. Didn't get to try the beans. It appeared that rice AND beans don't come with an entree. My husband ordered a three entree dinner and got NO rice and beans. As a previous reviewer noted, the chips should be served warm instead of cold and tasting out of the bag. The server was a nice lady, even though she wasn't attentive on refilling our drinks. Don't know if we'll try it again. I came here after a long day of work with my coworkers. We had a table of 11 and we all had an appetite. The restaurant got us a table together pretty quickly. It was around 3ish PM and it wasn't too busy. We had a table ducked off in the corner and the restaurant was clean. I ordered a tropical martini which was delicious but I was sad because they ran out of the stuff to make it so I couldn't order a second one. I had the Birria tacos which were delicious but there was a discrepancy on the menu where it said it came with beans and rice and we never received the beans and rice and our waiter told us they don't come with beans and rice so they should probably fix that because everywhere I go tacos come with Thad side. Upon asking, I learned that the beans were indeed cooked with lard so if you are struck veg be sure to skip the beans. The serving sizes were huge which is a great value and the food was, okay. The menu was big and had a large amount of things to choose from. We ordered the cheese dip (Queso) and more chips. Our lunch came out fast. I ordered the chicken fajitas they didn't have much flavor, it lacked spices, served with rice. Others had fish tacos, he enjoyed them. You get the chips and salsa, the reheated food, and the typical drinks. If you are from the area, it is probably the place to go. Mainly due to location and availability in the Elizabeth City, NC area. However, if you have traveled the world and have had REAL authentic Mexican food, then this place is not all that great. The dessert is absolutely amazing though! The prices are really affordable, the parking lot is plentiful, and the décor is beautiful. Where this place stands out is the service. It is a great place for a date, hanging out with friends, and/or a quick bite to eat. My girlfriend and I were fortunate to have a waitress that was simply phenomenal. Went here with a group of people from work. We sat in a big room in the back. The atmosphere was okay but with the music and the enclosed space, it made a bad echo. This made it tough to have conversations. While ordering, I asked for guacamole for the chips at the table. They didn't bring it for a long time. When they brought it, I was also asked if I wanted fresh guacamole. In either case, the server brought both and charged me for two (miscommunication). When others asked, they just brought fresh guacamole instead of 2. The food was not good. I have had much better food at different Mexican restaurants. The fresca guacamole was pretty good but not enough to raise the rating. Our server was nice but busy enough that she was not super friendly. There were a lot of menu choices as well as some deserts. Then another person then mine.... My daughter was finished eating by the time my food arrived. The waitress was super apologetic and very nice. The food was amazing!!!! The timing needs improvement but the portion sizes and flavor was AMAZING. Ordered a large strawberry margarita and had to settle for a raspberry because they ran out of strawberry, it was huge! Food poisoning! Went to Three Amigos on Weds 5/11/2022. Ordered sour cream to go with my cheese quesadilla, and was eating it with chips and salsa. My friend also has a side of sour cream. The minute she tasted it, she said to stop eating it and told the waiter it had gone bad. He didn't seem to understand. When the other waiter came by, she told him and asked to have it removed from the to table. They didnt even take it off the bill! The food and drinks are very good, be sure to go there and sit at the bar when Maricruz is working I think she is there every night but Sunday she is very good. The service is good and so is the food, they are very accommodating and ready to make a custom request I have been going there for about five years and I rarely get a bad meal. All the staff are very helpful and I have always enjoyed it. It is usually packed on Friday and Saturday nights a good time to get there is about 6:30, the decor is like a standard Mexican resturant and there is usually football on the TV, (Soccer) it is relaxing and entertaining. My sister who lives in Chesapeake drove us up to this restaurant when we were visiting from California. We were so impressed with the reasonable prices and even more impressed with the food. I tried a Blended margarita that was perfect and a tropical martini that I really enjoyed. Loved their great selection of martinis. My mom and I both got Steak Marimar which was fantastic..My sister who is a vegetarian got the chili relleno and said they were really great. My daughter got Pina Rellena and she loved it. There is a lot of cheese on it so ask for easy cheese if you aren't a fan of cheese , but you at least need a little Great flavors on all the food and we all had leftovers...The only thing we didn't care for too much was the deep fried ice cream.
