Big boy is one of those restaurants that always sounds good. The West Branch Big Boy does not disappoint. Good food, great service and a beautiful atrium, that's all a girl wants. Typical Big Boy restaurant. They attempted to practice social distancing but people were seated at the table directly behind us. All of the tables and seats had been washed when we arrived so they had a hard time finding a dry seat for us to sit in. I ordered a Greek salad and it was supposed to come with chick peas and when I asked why there weren't any in the salad the waitress blamed it on food shortages from the pandemic. I'm not sure why they would run out of chick peas, but who knows. Maybe it's gotten as popular as toilet paper!! read more

The food was the worst of the worst. Emily, the waitress was very slow. People entered after us and were waited on by another waitress before our waitress even showed. The soup was watered down- no flavor. I ordered a Slim Jim and ask for turkey instead of ham and the cheese wasn't even melted. Wilted lettuce. This was the best Big Boy I have ever visited. As you come into the parking lot, it is clean and easy to park. The gardens by the entrance are beautiful and well kept. This certainly indicates that this will be a clean and enjoyable place. They were very busy but service was prompt. I had the Salad bar which was well stocked with 6 soups and many sides. I love Big Boy and I want them all to open up again. It's a wonderful pastime restaurant that is family friendly and kid appropriate. They even let kids eat free on certain days. They give senior discounts before it was the norm for other restaurants to even think about rewarding customers. It is affordable and the service is always nice and friendly staff. I want BIG BOY to come back all over Michigan like it used to be. Yummy. Breakfast I ordered was delicious. I ordered an egg white omelette with turkey sausage, cheese, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Came with hash browns and side of pancakes. Waitress was very nice. Good coffee. Stopped here to eat breakfast on my way to Roscommon. I noticed there is a West Branch outlet mall across the street if that interests you. Our food was amazing! The service was A1 and our waitress had the best attitude. I was unsatisfied with the fact that I witnessed the manager just completely ream this poor girl out for being late. I can understand being late is an issue but handle that in the office or in the back of the house not on the floor where customers can see on top of you could tell that awful conversation ruined her night which showed in her work hopefully the manager learns how to respectfully deal with his waitstaff. We stopped here for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. We should have realized that there were so few cars in the parking lot at 9:20 am. We sat down and were greeted nicely and handed our menus. Another clue that we noticed was that the menus were beat to heck. We decided on the breakfast buffet even though it had nothing really special just your average breakfast. The real shocker was the bill, the buffet for two with only one coffee, no refill, was 39.00 dollars. This was my second bad experience with a B.B. restaurant so I'm not sad to say that I will never again attend there establishments. read more

Where do I begin......(this is the first time leaving a review for anything) we ordered a pickup because we were traveling with our pet. First off, I made it very clear 2x that we wanted a DIET & a REGULAR Coke....we got two REGULAR Coke's. Then we did not get even one napkin, no fork for my "Greek Salad" no condiments for my husbands meal, no receipt. My "Greek Salad" was a joke! No olives, no Feta cheese, a rotten tomato.......not good lettuce..... and the clincher was that our bill was almost $30.00..! We come up to West Branch, MI every year to visit relatives. We stoped by big boys for dinner and the service is great! Jennifer was fast to refill drinks and when I didn't like my food they swapped it out no questions asked. The restaurant was clean and well lit.... the food was bland. We had a party of 8 meet for breakfast. We got in before the morning rush, and still waited 45 minutes for our breakfast. Most of it was undercooked. Everyone order hash browns and bacon well done.The bacon was undercooked, fatty, and rubbery. The hash browns were not browned at all, they were luke warm and half raw. My wifes omelette still had runny egg yook inside. Disregard our location being San Francisco, we actually live locally, however, we won't be returning to that location. Best Big Boy we've been to. Ate here week of Christmas 2015.. Warm and clean restaurant. Had the breakfast buffet and items were hit or miss. So you basically get "half" a good buffet and "half" a poor one. I am pretty sure this Big Boy has been here for over 30 years, I would like to see it stay. read more

The food and service here was good. Exactly what you would expect from a good Big Boy; tasty food for a reasonable price and quick service. The coffee was decent and it was available for sale at the front counter for home brewing. In fact, the whole place had a kind of estate-sale/anything-goes feel. This may be a Big Boy thing, but you could literally buy the artwork right off the walls. One downside which has nothing to do with the actually restaurant and more to do with the parking lot and nesting locations of the local birds... We came out to the truck and found that they had gone all Tora Tora Tora all over the hood. But like I said, nothing against the restaurant. read more

I do like eating here, but last time I ordered pot roast got two small pieces that were fatty. That's the only bad experience I had there.

Horrible food and ridiculous service. Onion rings were not thoroughly fried, breading still tasted wet and when we told the manager, he said, "some people like 'em that way and besides that we ran out." What in the world does that mean? Horrible service. My wife, (caucasian) two adopted daughters, (african american), and foster son stopped in to have dinner on our way back home from the UP. We were seated in a corner away from all other customers, we waited 15 minutes and never had a waitress come to our table to even bring us waters. I'm not saying it was a racial issue, but we received many dirtly looks from not only staff but customers. This is the best Big Boy I have ever visited. The manager Tom has an amazing crew. My wife and I eat there most Sunday mornings and are never disappointed. The wait staff is the friendliest and most attentive ever. We've also been there infrequently on week nights for dinner, and although there are different waitress than Sunday, we still got the same amazing service. read more
