I'm going to try and be as honest as I can without being rude. I got a haircut at this place about a week ago and I was extremely unhappy with the service and cut I received. I usually go to the same barber that has his own place but he didn't have any appointments for the next two weeks and I really needed a cut. I looked up this place on Google and it got good reviews so I decided to give it a try. I don't know the name of the guy that cut my hair but he was on the far left (if you're facing the mirror) so I won't be able to tell you who it was. My first complaint: I'm pretty sure when I was telling the guy how I wanted my haircut he was on his phone. When I was done telling him how I wanted it, there was a 10 to 20 second silence that made it seem like he was finishing up a text instead of listening to how I wanted my hair. I really didn't appreciate that especially since I was trying to be as descriptive and helpful as possible. My second complaint: The guy made a whole new part in my hair when I already had one. I like to get the hard part with some hair left over to comb it down but he cut off all the hair so I can't comb it down and made a whole new part that makes my head look rounder than it actually is. He also didn't blend or make my original part even so I was left with a bunch of little hairs from my old part. My third complaint: Before I could even see how the cut was, he already styled it. How am I supposed to see the how my hair actually looks when it's got gel in it? The way he styled it was also a very lousy and a negligent comb over. My fourth complaint: The outline along my ears is uneven and he didn't clean much up in that area. For reference I do a comb over with a hard part while leaving some on the top and front with some texture. I also get a taper fade into a 1.5. I was very unhappy and dissatisfied with the cut I got. I understand if this guy is new and still learning but I'm pretty sure my cut didn't come out good because he wasn't paying attention to what I wanted. I won't say this establishment is bad because I really don't know think it is but the cut I received was not good which is why I'm giving it 1 star. If you have a regular barber that isn't available and you want to try this place be cautious. read more

Our usual barbershop closed all of a sudden. I looked at Yelp to see which shop would accommodate a drop in visit. Since this place had good ratings and was near the 605, we dropped in. All chairs were busy and quite a few clients were waiting. I think there were about five people that were serviced before us. Still. We waited about 30 minutes, at max. Not bad! Jose called us up and cut my son's hair. I showed him a picture of his previous cut. Not Only did he cut it as the picture showed, he did a better job! The barbers were welcoming. They were more concerned about getting the job done, with perfection, rather than stopping to have a conversation. Many of the clients that walked in were regulars and were greeted as family. Like others, I have been coming here for over 10 years because they are that good and have been consistent throughout the years. Both Big Boy and his mother are very talented and very open to whatever type of haircut you may need (fades, tappers). I don't mind waiting because I always leave a happy and clean cut customer. Big Boys Barber shop has five stations and limited waiting space. Be advised, this place has many loyal customers so it can get extremely busy in the late afternoon and early evenings. I recommend you pay them a visit either in the morning and early in the week to avoid the wait. Ms. Valentina is such a sweet woman. Back in April, she gave my brother-in-law a cut like no other. She was so detailed and patient. Today, she gave my son a hair cut and again, she was super gentle with my son. I will definitely be bringing my son back to her. The shop is truly a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Got a haircut at this place, service wasn't bad, just the quality of the cut. Didn't notice the result much after sitting for a while and just took couple glances and said it was cool. After I went back home and with some inputs from family members and looking closely at the mirror is when I noticed (see pic). My hair is on the nappy side, they probably don't have experience upon that. Took my nephew to get a haircut here today and Jesse did a very good job. Dealing with a 4 year old can be difficult, but he was patient with him. Upon arrival, my nephew asked Jesse politely "it has to be quick, I have my christmas program" and Jesse definitely listened to his client. lol. Also, There was no wait time when we arrived which is a definite plus - most barber shops tend to have a wait time but only because sometimes there is more talking going on than cutting hair and For this particular visit as my nephew stated, we were on a time limit. There is air conditioning and 4 people cutting hair at a time (3 men and one woman). They all do amazing jobs and are perfect if you're into fades, tapers, and specific hair styles. There isn't much waiting room (about six or seven chairs) and only accepts cash. Very friendly staff that does an amazing job at cutting hair! I got a really bad haircut. The guy clippered the side all the way to the top and then no fade, it just jumps to 3" long hair. I dont think he understood that you should start fading at the occipital lobe. He kept me facing away from the mirror while he butchered my hair. He only ran the clippers along the side once missing a lot of loose hairs. I had to clean it up myself once I got home. They also didn't do a straight razor shaving of the back of my neck or around my sideburns. Definitely in my top 3 worst haircuts. read more

(Don't know his name) He gave my hair an uneven shape from the top and now I am looking at the mirror and cursing that moment when I went towards the "Third Station". By far the best place to get a great fade. I have been going to Big Boys for over 10yrs. As a matter of fact the worst about me moving was how far I was from this place. I drive about 20min. Ok. So this is the second time my 3 year old son has had his hair cut by John. My husband took him the first time and both my son and husband were very happy with the entire experience. Not to mention I thought it was the BEST HAIRCUT my son had ever had.....until today! JOHN OUTDID HIMSELF!!! I decided to take my son myself because I wanted him to get a very specific haircut and my husband thought it best that I explain it. At first I was a little bothered with the wait. The place was packed!!! I also had to wait because other guys were walking in with appointments. But after an hour wait my son sat down in John's chair. Now let me say that my son does not like to get his hair cut but took to John like they were homies from way back. The wait was well worth it but I will be making appointments for him from now on. Been coming here for five years. Soco is my barber but all the other guys are just as good. There are 8 waiting chairs available and some outside seating w 2 benches. These guys can pretty much cut any hairstyle. It's a cool place to kick back and talk sh*t about sports etc w the barbers. These guys are very professional and don't act ghetto. read more

I'm probably the only Asian dude thats a regular that goes there. Theres ways crowded. My suggestion would to go on a weekday around morn-noon so the waits not bad. Been coming here for more than 4+ years and never had a complaint. Even the grandma gives me a perfect fade everytime. I drive from Rowland hts and its a 15-20 mim drive w/o traffic but it's worth the 15$ cut. Have plenty of barbers in my area but I'd rather make the drive here. Jess and the older lady are probably my favorite but you cant go wrong w/ any one there tbh. Everyone there is of Hispanic descent but I'd never received any less treatment. These guys know what they're doing. Seen some barbers come and go but they've always been steady. I come in there looking like a raconteur and these guys make me come out looking like a new person. I've been bringing my son here since he was one, he would cry a lot but Big Boy and guy s handled him really well and always did a great job with him. Erik is his barber now , he is very friendly and fast. There are days where the wait is long but the barbers here are funny and they always have good music and T.V shows, making time go by fast.
