It's your standard fast food. Fried and very salty. Standard seating, highly lit & very loud. Music plays in the background. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They were on top of keeping everything clean. I didn't like the quality of the food. The quality of the chicken was kind of rubbery. The sauces were all on the spicy side. The fries and the waffle sweet potato fries were fried hard and thin as well as the fried onions on the chicken sandwich. When they are that thin it's hard for them to retain heat, therefore they were cold. They were so salty. The Mac and cheese wasn't anything special, but they do have a cheese it crumble topping that is unique. We have not tried the ice cream and shake treats but they looked really good. I was shocked when I saw that they featured the Stubborn Soda brand, so I was excited to grab a cup full of Agave Vanilla Cream Soda. The food came out too soon, I was knee-deep in a game of NBA Jam. As I scored my final points with Isiah Thomas, I decided to forfeit my game for my food. The sandwich was huge, hot, and crispy. The fries reminded me of Red Robin fries, but they were thinly sliced. The sauce bar was very cool because I am definitely a dipper. The Shaq Sauce and the Carolina mustard were my favorites. Overall a great restaurant. You order at the counter and they give you a pager until your food is ready. Next to the drink station they have a self serve sauce station which is convenient. I would say that it is a little on the expensice side, but the portions are huge. Me and my boyfriend split a meal and still could not finish it. I feel it would be better if portions were smaller and prices were cheaper. We got the Crispy chicken grilled cheese sandwhich and it was amazing! Been wanting to try this place. None in my home town. What a big disappointment. I read his story on wall and if this is the food his mother served, then I feel sorry for him. He has had to try chick filet or Popeyes. How does he think this chicken stacks up. My sandwich had 1/4" thick chicken patty. And not much Dry Mac and cheese or fried onions. My bf spotted this place and knew it was Shaq's chain so we decided to stop and check it out. He got the tenders and I got the 2 sliders set. The chicken is crisp and juicy. The flavor is good, could use more seasoning personally, but with the sauce it's perfect. I'm not a fan of the fries, they're cut long and thin kind of like chips. I like my fries crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, these are a bit too thin to have that soft inside. But my bf liked them, they are unique. I got the peach sweet tea which was really good, not overly sweet. I tried the strawberry lemonade as well, wasn't as impressed, not sour enough for me. Went on opening day. The chicken was tasty and tasted as expected for a chicken sandwich. The only downside was, everything was very salty. However, we powered through the salt. There's a big sign outside the restaurant now: New LOW cost. I don't remember what it used to cost to get a combo here, but it was $17+ for a 5 piece strips and fries combo, and $16+ for a Shaq sandwich combo (not including tip, which of course they ask for). IIf thats cheaper than their old prices, no wonder they are hurting. And they are hurting indeed. The restaurant was empty at 7pm on a Sunday night. Five Guys next door, a place with similarly unjust prices, was packed. Gone are the thinly sliced steak fries and giant containers of popcorn chicken. Now Big Shaq serves boring crinkle fries and chicken "Dunks" in small cups containing less than half of the chicken you used to get. The chicken is bland, and the fries are made from low quality potatoes. If I am going to spend $15-ish on a chicken meal, Huey MacGoos seems to be the best choice. Consistent flavor, good portions, incredible chicken quality, plus a slice of toast and cole slaw. No such accoutrements at Shaq's. I don't expect this restaurant to last much longer. read more

The breading is super light and it's not over crunchy for those worries about breaking a tooth . They have several different sauces to pick from I did get the hot Chipotle BBQ nice flavor, not over spicy or smokey complimented the chicken well. They do offer fountain drinks and a few homemade lemonade options but I am a sucker for a cold diet Dr pepper fountain drink. For desert I got the banana pudding ice cream sandwich yes that is right its made into a sandwich creamy banana flavored ice cream tucked in 2 sugar cookies yummm. Chocolate shake that tasted like a frosty from wendys married a Jamaco shake from Arbys.. You do prior to sitting it's a young staff but seemed to know the menu and was quick The dining area was pretty large with high and low top tables 2 single stall restrooms and 2 entrances one in the front of the restaurant and one in the back. Big chicken is a little more up scale then other chicken places, but I think the extra cost is worth it. When we were there the chicken patties looked like they were being made to order. The breading on the chicken breast was crunchy with nice seasoning, not salty. 10 or so signature sandwiches. I got the big Aristotle.
