    Egg salad wrap
    Paula K.

I am finding it difficult to get a good egg salad sandwich. I had an egg salad wrap combo delivered. Wow - the place is called Big Daddy's for a reason. I had half a wrap and fries two lunches in a row. And the sandwich filling was packed, and had the right amount of seasonings and veggies.

The clubhouse and Rueben sandwiches at Big Daddy Sandwich.

Hands down one of the top 5 sandwiches in yeg! The place is small so if you need to dine in, you may have to wait. We had their Rueben and Big Daddy's Clubhouse. If sandwiches are your thang, you need to check these guys out. These sandwiches were HUGE and tasty!! The Rueben was definitely top notch and I'll be coming back for that sandwich alone. Their clubhouse was also outstanding. Highly recommend!

First time coming here and it did not disappoint!! Sandwiches were absolutely amazing, very big! The staff are friendly and welcoming! Location is easy to find, place gives a local vibe people coming here on their lunch break! So so good! We got 3 sandwiches, the Bronx bomber, big daddy's clubhouse and the bbq chicken sandwich and all were delicious! And we got their coconut cream pie-- amazing too!

    Chilli ($2 Extra with combo)

Came in this afternoon for our first visit, I had paired my Clubhouse Sandwich with chilli (Extra $2), my girlfriend had a house salad, and we both had a can of pop. The sandwiches were HUGE, loaded with bacon, meats, and veggies, and come with a large pickle wedge. The sandwiches tasted absolutely delicious, and were VERY filling. The chilli was alright, I had honestly expected more from it once I tried my sandwich, the salad was good, tasted crisp and fresh. Overall, would definitely recommend the sandwich, service was very quick for the quality, and the staff were very smiley, and friendly! Definitely a good vibe, and we will definitely be coming back soon!

    Friday lunch special

Sandwiches seem to be a favourite with the work crowd. Or so it seems to me, with so many shops clustered so close together. I don't think I'll ever understand the hype - I have yet to be blown away by any sandwich I've had so far in town. Well, I randomly stumbled upon some reviews that claimed Big Daddy's Sandwich Co was worth checking out. Cheap prices and generous portions? Sounds like a good combo to me. Their Friday special sounded tasty. Pulled pork on what looked like a cheese bun. Menu is all about the sandwiches: fresh, subs, donairs and then soups/salads. There's also a breakfast menu available from 8am to 11am weekdays. Service is pretty fast and run by a friendly family of Filipinos. They were already out of their beef barley soup (not sure how that happened as we arrived just past noon). - Our famous clubhouse sandwich combo ($13.50) - you choose your type of bread (white, brown and multigrain), whether you want it toasted and then can customize what exactly you want for toppings. Options that I remember are tomato, cucumber, red onion, alfalfa sprouts, banana peppers, cheese (three types: swiss, mozzarelo and provolone?), mustard, mayo. They also throw a dill pickle on your tray for good measure. - Tomato beef vegetable - not too much to write home about when it comes to their soup. Pretty standard, pretty generic soup. - Tuna salad sandwich ($8.50) - my buddy L went with the tuna salad. Again, pretty standard and simple. The first few bites I wasn't that impressed as the tuna had a dry, stale texture to it but it got better after those initial bites. Kind of like Parks and Recreation after Season 1. Season 1 starts out impressively unimpressive but after that, it's dyno-mite. The hunt continues for the best sandwich in town. If you're stuck in this area, Sandwich & Sons is probably your best bet. Sorry Big Daddy's but you need to step yo game up.

If and when you are on this side of town you must stop in. Honest to god two slices of bread packed to so much meat that it makes any other sandwich place look like a kids menu. The BLT is literally stuffed with so much bacon that you might think you died and went to heaven. The club house is so big that you might cry with joy. **pro tip: move the toothpick around the sandwich, don't just take it out or your first bites will spill the heaping contents all over your tray. A little hole in the wall you will not want to miss! Just stopped back in after a couple years away.... and the sandwich is bigger! If your new to town. Stop in for there lunch! Won't be disappointed! Hidden gem right here

Fried egg sandwich and "french onion" soup

Really close to my office, so we come here for a quick lunch. The sandwiches are big. Like, really big. Like, if you order the BLT there's probably a whole package of bacon in it big. It's great for sharing though, since everything is cut in half. New owners just took over in December and seem to have kept everything pretty much the same, but we'll see. They seem to change owners pretty often here. All day breakfast is good! I ordered an egg & bacon sandwich and for $3 added a soup and a can of pop. Decent made to order lunch for under $11.

This was the first clubhouse I had here (there will be many more)

I stumbled upon this little gem by accident. I was meeting a friend for lunch and the place we intended to go to was not open so we went here instead. After glancing on the menu I had decided on a clubhouse combo. The soup was chicken with rice, actual grilled chicken in the soup made it super tasty. The clubhouse came out very fast and much bigger than I had thought it would. It wasn't a typical club house but what they had in it was delicious. Can't wait to go back for another delicious sandwich.

    Giant sandwich and tasty soup.

The sandwiches were delicious. The amount was just right. The bun is not huge so you won't be stuffed with bread. It can get messy because there's more fillings than bun but don't worry because there are three washrooms to wash your sticky fingers. Seriously I haven't enjoyed a new place in Edmonton this much in a long time. As for the location... Well eventually it might be okay. It's fine during the day. I highly recommend Patricia Street.

It's the season for anything apples, so I was happy to find a caramel apple cronut & went for a classic grick middle (as per their website & one of my favs - Fried Egg, Bacon, Rosemary Aioli, Smoked Cheddah, Tomato Jam, Arugula). Sadly with a cane & a reuseable bag, I couldn't take a coffee to go (stair logistics are hard enough) but it's always a great cup when I do have a free hand. Oh, I should mention in case I've never did in previous reviews, neither of these food options are something one wants to eat when trying to look presentable. As it's deliciously messy! There's a few bar seats at this location but it's best to take your food to go. At this particular location (there's 4 locations now!) there's no accessible entrance (nor exit). Kind of baffles my mind on why they didn't build a ramp with the newer set of stairs at the exit door. I even made the comment that it's really too bad they don't use the order window on the side (like they did in the pandemic), for us that need to avoid the challenge of stairs. There's also no railings on the steps, so be sure footed in wet & winter conditions (even if you're not disabled). So as much as I love the food & coffee at Farrow, I have to leave it as it's a place I'm going to only on a randomly decent mobility day for the knees & legs.

My office coworkers LOVE this place! It is located in a blue building through a little hallway with a few tables inside. It looks like it is family run business. Since our group is quite large, we have been calling to pre-order so our food will be ready when we arrive since we have limited time for our lunch hour. I had the meat pie which had some ground beef in between the pita bread and was oozing with cheese, onions and tomatos. There wasn't alot of meat but the size of it was big and for an extra $2, you can add donair meat. The grilled cheese is crazy, the thickness of the cheese inside is thicker than the bread itself which is not usual bread slice, it looks like a loaf size! The chicken finger pieces were large and came on a giant plate of fries, sure get your money's worth here! Some people in my group shared an item or else had to get a doggie bag. PALS!!! I have been a huge fan since their opening day in 2022 and it's about time that I finally…read morewrite about them! Part of the venerable Strathcona restaurant monopoly of The Next Act (the OG), Meat (the meaty one), Pip (the brunchy one), and Marlo (the taco one), Pals holds their own as the sandwich one. This five-restaurant stronghold wouldn't work if each and every one of them wasn't so dang good. But they are. Pals showed up on the scene after Pip moved across the street and there was enough room in the building to fit a delightful little sandwich shop in there as well. Pals to the left and Pip to the right - and one (beautiful) shared washroom downstairs for both. It's a pretty harmonious arrangement as far as I can tell! Pals might be a small little sandwich guy but it boasts a beautiful outdoor patio in the summertime that just about doubles the space. Named Favourite Handheld on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list and most recently awarded Best Sandwich 2025 in EDify Magazine, you'll also find them on the Worldwide Faves section of this very website. The interior is somewhat small but very bright and fresh. Casual light wood high-tops, counter seating, a few bench seats near the back, and the aforementioned patio. You'll also note pops of their signature yellow, especially on their unmistakable brick facade outside. The restaurant feels breezy and gives off a comfortable vibe that makes you want to "stop in to grab a quick sandwich." And maybe people-watch out the window for a few minutes. The staff is also super friendly which makes you feel like you're hanging out with your pals. (Ha! See what I did there?) Situated at a table on a Saturday evening, I was looking for the maximum Pals experience! Pals is all about the drinks and offers an impressive array of cocktails and beer, especially for such a small shop. The Winter Sangria sounded like a seasonally appropriate delight while their Caesar made with pepperoncini brine is an ideal compliment to their use of pepperoncini elsewhere on the menu. On this visit I opted for the Strathcona Sling (Gin, cherry liqueurs, orange & pineapple juice, bitters - $15.00) which not only sounded delicious but also might be the signature beverage of the entire neighbourhood. This drink sounds like it might be pretty sweet but I didn't find that about it. It's very refreshing and the grown-up flavours from the gin and bitters hold their own. What sounds like a kid's shirley temple actually tastes quite adult. This would absolutely be the quintessential patio beverage on a hot summer day during the Fringe - a cocktail that lives up to it's name. The Pals food menu is an extravaganza of sandwiches! There are fourteen different sandwiches in two categories; made hot or served fresh. There's usually a feature sandwich as well. Be prepared for sandwiches like you've never seen them before! But the snacks, soups, and salads are incredible as well and the quality certainly doesn't stop with the sandwiches alone. In an effort to dig into this part of the menu a bit more I thought it prudent to order the Soup & Salad Combo (Choice of soup & salad with house focaccia - $19.00). A great option if maybe you don't want a sandwich. Pals usually has two different soups and salads on the go so you're able to customize this dish with whatever combo you like. I chose the House Soup (dill pickle & spicy pepperoncini) and The Other House Salad (iceberg lettuce, tomato, green onion, blue cheese, bacon, buttermilk ranch). Let's start with the soup. How unique!! You've never tasted a zingy little bowl of soup like this before! I don't know about you, but I love a dill pickle soup very much (maybe it's my Eastern European ancestry) but the addition of pepperoncini totally changes the game. This soup packs a punch but in the most interesting and delicious way. And then the salad! I ordered this one because it sounded like a wedge salad (one of my favourites) without the wedge. A deconstructed wedge salad, if you will. And boy did it deliver! The flavours of tomato and bacon together are so classic and the generous chunks of crumbled blue cheese were perfection. I loved how well-dressed everything was - not a dry leaf in the house. A salad may sound like a boring thing to order but certainly not in this case. Let's not forget the focaccia which cannot be treated as an afterthought because it was incredible. This bread was impossibly light while still possessing the unctuous and oily quality that you want from a focaccia. The crust was impossibly crispy and dusted in salt. What a dream! Honestly, I know that you need to order a sandwich... But maybe you don't? I'm going to have an existential crisis about this. But yes, I obviously ordered a sandwich. This might be an unpopular opinion but I highly favour the "served fresh" sandwiches at Pals by a lot. The BLT is the best in the entire city, I swear. The Burrata is completely insane - I've never seen a stack of prosciutto so high.

I am not particulary a sandwich person when we go out. However, we did want to try the new Pals…read moreSandwiches that opened up just off of Whyte Ave. They also had the sweetest patio which happened to have a few free spots. We ordered a couple of beers (Mojito Sour) and the Italian Pilsner. My husband also ordered a cocktail (the Spicy Paloma). The cocktail was okay but overpriced. It kinda tasted like the ones that you order at a place like Boston Pizza. However, the beers were refreshing and hit the spot. Menu is basic with a variety of Sandwiches, fries, soups and salads. We decided to try two sandwiches and share them. I chose the feature of the day which was a cheddar beef sandwich with a side of tortilla soup. Hubby chose the Reuban with fries. Service was friendly and our water glasses were filled constantly. Sandwiches came out pretty fast. They were well constructed and tasty. They both had a decent amount of meat in them. Definately the Reuban was more flavourful than the cheese and beef. My soup was awesome. Hubby's fries were average. Is this the best place to get a sandwich? No. But if you want a quick bite with decent food with a lovely atmosphere, check it out.
