The Peel and Eat Shrimp I had at Big Deck Raw Bar was some of the best shrimp I have ever eaten. The generous portion was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. Served with a side of melted butter and lemon wedges. We also enjoyed the fish and chips but the peel and eat shrimp was something that I randomly think about and contemplate jumping in my car and making the 2 hour drive there.

Steamed clams. 2 dozen for $14. Can't beat it!

We love this place for a beer and steamed clams. Live music on some nights. Casual atmosphere.

Food was good just very heavy. Service was good since we were with the bar tender. Since it's located right on dock street we enjoyed sitting at the bar and people watch with a great view.

It's a cool local hangout. Food appears like typical bar menu. We stopped in twice for drinks but didn't eat anything. There really isn't a bad view in this town!!

The Cajun peel n eat shrimp was fantastic. I just wish they had more menu items. I think this is a 60/40 bar and restaurant, mostly bar.

This was taken from our table on the deck.

The food was good. The clientele was a bit over the top politically for our taste. LOL

Good grouper and clams with fast and efficient service. Low key and reasonably priced food, was a nice stop on our trip to cedar key.

How can you be listed as raw bar in Cedar Key and not have raw oysters? Good live music and a fun "dive" atmosphere

Had a choice of eating in the bar , the dining room or outside. We chose the dining room and glad we did. Overall all our service was very good. The server was friendly ( and very busy handling a lot of tables). I had an 8oz filet which was very good. I ordered it medium ( light pink center) and it cane out true Pittsburgh rare ( charred outside but rare inside- see pics) I was actually ok with it .... I order medium for my wife to have a couple bites even though I prefer more med rare. So this was def rare inside but I loved it ( I cut her a small end piece that was cooked a little more ) The steak comes with a salad, a vegetable and potato ( a lot of restaurants everything is alacarte - so for $40 for a prime 8oz filet with those sides included .... Not bad. Wife had shrimp and grit cake which is a large appetizer ( she had as her meal). Also had stuffed mushrooms to start that were very good. I think the town of Cedar Key will prob be one and done for us. Wanted to see it , it's quaint , old Florida ... but prob wouldn't come back. ( but only because we just wanted to check it off of a long list of Florida towns to visit) Pro tip: they don't take American Express , odd for a linen table cloth type of place .... So , it's ok to leave home without it

The outside was pretty full and we thought about sitting out there, but the idea of the bugs getting me later pushed us back inside. by the time we left at 6:40, there were only 3 other tables occupied in the dining room. We had a good dinner, although in reading some of the other reviews, we might have had the same server who seemed to be very slow and big gaps in between visiting our table - she seemed to disappear. I had the Calypso pasta with scallops, which was great. We had the stuffed mushrooms to start, which were yummy, but only 3. and my husband had a snapper fish of the day dish. He also enjoyed the pecan pie. And I enjoyed his ice cream. I was not a fan of any of the cocktails, so just had a glass of wine. My husband had the almond joy/mounds martini, whatever it was called, and he liked it a lot.

This place makes the red clam chowder, which is what we prefer over the white & fresh crab bisque. You can get it by the cup or bowl or you can get a quart to take home. Both soups were amazballs. In fact, we haven't stopped talking about them since. We wished we would have got a quart of each to take home!!! The red clam chowder has potatoes/onions very hearty with their fresh local clams it's just fabulous. The crab bisque is cream based & has tons of fresh crab in it. Both of them are just divine. like i said we still are talking about these two soups. We can't wait to return for the quarts to go!!! Very cool dockside dining under the stars. Highly recommend.

We were definitely interested in some good, local seafood, and they delivered. We chose 2 orders of the small seafood bisque ($6) and 2 orders of the steamed clams ($9.59/dozen). My girlfriend tried one of the local blond beers ($6 - forgot the name). The seafood bisque was crab, shrimp and lobster in a creamy base. It was DELICIOUS! A little bit on the small size even for a small portion though. The steamed clams were in wine, butter, garlic and parsley served with garlic bread. They were TENDER and TASTY! The garlic bread was great for soaking up the clam broth. Service was friendly and efficient. Bathrooms were clean and odorless. PAY CASH and avoid the non-Cash fee ($1.42 in my case, just noticed that on the CC receipt!) Total was $42.13 before tip.
