Servers are always friendly and food is fresh. Lively vibe. I love that Steamers and 2nd Street Cafe merged after the storms. CK has grit!

I am not a seafood fan, so coming to a place like this, which specializes in seafood, could have been challenging for me. Our server was friendly and helpful. Monday's are margarita day so that was my drink of choice. The menu has lots of seafood, but also other items. I settled on the chicken Parmesan pasta. Food arrived timely and it was nice and hot. Italian is my go to food and I'm not picky about sauce, but this sauce was not for me. Not sure what the spice was, but I didn't care for it. It wasn't as bad on the pasta but the chicken was overloaded with it. Not my favorite meal and not my last either. I like the atmosphere and would choose something else next time.

Pretty good place for seafood. First night I got blackened shrimp tacos - those were pretty good and light. Second night I got seafood pasta. Both were 3-4 star dishes. The staff was super helpful - the restaurant is in a very small town, so I think the staff knew my hosts by name. The restaurant was packed - it looks like it always is.

We were visiting Cedar Key and we're looking a nice place for dinner. I had never been to Cedar Key before and I loved that you can basically walk anywhere! We stumbled upon Steamers, and decided to give it a try. We have our 80lb pitbull with us, so we needed somewhere with outdoor seating. Upon sitting, the waitress immediately showed up with a pitcher of ice water for the dog! Huge props in my book. In fact, all the servers stopped by to say hello to him, even bringing milk bones. We decided to start with a crab cake, and my husband had a blackened mahi sandwich and fries, and I had the clam bowl. (25 steamers in an amazing broth. The crab cake was large and prepared and cooked perfectly. It was served with a flavorful remoulade sauce. My clam bowl was served with two hot yeasty rolls. The broth was so good I may have eaten a few spoonfuls as a soup. And the clams were perfect. My husband loved his sandwich. He was it was perfectly seasoned, and was very tasty. The dog, of course, enjoyed it all! We would definitely come back to this restaurant. Check it out if you are in the area!

Build Your Own- Grouper and Fried Oysters

Spent a night on Cedar Key and had many locals recommend Steamers. Are on the porch with heaters to help out a chilly night. Cynthia was pleasant and helpful throughout the meal. Enjoyed the Build your Own combo with fried oysters and Grouper.. Our other entree was the highly recommended Seafood Pasta. Both dishes were well prepared and portioned. Fish was flavorful, and the pasta dish was filled with seafood, drizzled with a Balsamic for a nice touch. Meal was priced well, and large portion's. Service was Cynthia was above average. Seating was available inside and outside, Happy Hour on drinks until 5p!

    Combo Meal with fried grouper

Disappointed for a few reasons. First, the portion of the combo plate (blackened grouper) was small and not filling. Not sure if they recognized us as out of towners and skimmed our meal. Second, their initial bill overcharged us by over $30. Upon our review, we spotted it and called the waitress over. Her reaction was a little strange.... she did not act surprised.... instead she immediately said she knew what happened. Just an odd experience which made us feel like they were hoping we wouldn't notice the upcharge. They removed the extra charges. Clams were pretty good. Blackened grouper decent (but very small portion for the price in our opinion). Mediocre experience, doubtful we would return.

Shrimp grits special, sweet potato waffle fries, chicken wings.

Tonight I had a shrimp & grits special, he had chicken wings with medium heat garlic sauce & sweet potato waffle fries. Kendall Jackson Cab & Chardonnay. Oh my!!! Best shrimp & grits ever! So flavorful. Our waitress was very personable, local and charming. This was our 4th meal here in the last week. The redfish, grouper, crab.... Everything was just delicious. In a cute downtown district with a lot of heart.

We went to Steamers Clam Bar and Grill for dinner on 12/11/25. I had a combo deal of blackened Redfish and scallops with a loaded baked potato and mixed vegetables. My wife had little neck clams from right off Cedar Key. All the food was well seasoned and tasted excellent. Our server, Catie O. was wonderful. She made sure we had everything that we needed. We enjoyed the art work decorating the walls too. I had wanted to come here since before the fire on Dock Street that destroyed the original location as a friend of mine had recommended them. We were not disappointed.

Can you bring your dog ? Do they have any kind of outdoor seating where you can bring your dog?

Dogs on leashes are welcome at the outdoor seats. Last night 2 separate couples and their well behaved dogs were near our outdoor table. No problem.

Does this place serve local seafood? Or is it all Alaskan crap? Alaskan halibut? Alaskan crab legs? Etc etc

All of the clams are local from Cedar Key because Cedar Key is one of the largest producers of clams in the United States. The clams in any of the dishes there are local. I highly recommend the Clam Bowl made with Cedar Key clams and the Clam…

Had a choice of eating in the bar , the dining room or outside. We chose the dining room and glad we did. Overall all our service was very good. The server was friendly ( and very busy handling a lot of tables). I had an 8oz filet which was very good. I ordered it medium ( light pink center) and it cane out true Pittsburgh rare ( charred outside but rare inside- see pics) I was actually ok with it .... I order medium for my wife to have a couple bites even though I prefer more med rare. So this was def rare inside but I loved it ( I cut her a small end piece that was cooked a little more ) The steak comes with a salad, a vegetable and potato ( a lot of restaurants everything is alacarte - so for $40 for a prime 8oz filet with those sides included .... Not bad. Wife had shrimp and grit cake which is a large appetizer ( she had as her meal). Also had stuffed mushrooms to start that were very good. I think the town of Cedar Key will prob be one and done for us. Wanted to see it , it's quaint , old Florida ... but prob wouldn't come back. ( but only because we just wanted to check it off of a long list of Florida towns to visit) Pro tip: they don't take American Express , odd for a linen table cloth type of place .... And while our server seemed really very nice, she just wasn't attentive. We saw her only a few times so that means no water refills, no continued drink orders, and no follow up. Even had to chase the check after giving up on waiting for her to order dessert. I especially resent that when the expected gratuity's over $20. We were there far too long, nearly two hours, and while they're also a hotel, we didn't want to make a night of it. And maybe that's the thing, if you're staying here, maybe you do. So, despite an uncomfortably long dinner, the food was pretty good. We enjoyed the snails and were impressed with the fish in paper. I did think it was a bit odd the waitress immediately prompted me to check the doneness of my steak but whatever; maybe she doesn't trust the kitchen or knew she wouldn't be back. And she wasn't; well, except to get her tip after I had to go get her. It's also worth mentioning we really appreciated the complimentary fresh bread, which was pretty good, and that the mains came with both sides and soup or salad, which are nice almost forgotten perks or customary hallmarks of what nice restaurants used to do that would be extra or billed as enhancements today. There were a few other small misgivings and unmentionables, like I didn't get the side I ordered or have the opportunity to address it and they cleared but didn't clean the table between courses but whatever; it's "casual" fine dining, right? They could do better.

There wasn't a hostess there when we showed up and then three servers took turns to say hold on for the hostess and then had no accountability when they said, 'I don't know where she is..'. Finally somebody said they were full up and tried to scare us with a 30 - 45 min wait when there were obvious tables open. We tried to understand what was going on and asked the next up server if they just didn't have the servers which made them a little friendlier. Then all of sudden a huge group left so the next server had no choice to seat us. Meanwhile, several other customers showed up behind us which put more pressure on the service. The next up server left to go clean an available outside table, and then 10 seconds later another server came up and tried to steer us away again saying no seats are open. We told this new server the next server got us to straighten out their lack of communication, and they readmitted they didn't know where the hostess was. We ended getting seated and waited another 15 to have our drink order put in. She seemed busy so we ended up putting in everything in at the same time. I had the clams and a pretzel, my wife had the shrimp rice bowl. Everything did come out fresh and super salty and not very good. Drinks were strong and mid, I won't go there again.

We call for the manager who argues with us over what an Alfredo sauce is which clearly it is not...he swears it is and that it has separated into God knows what as all we see is a soppy mess of butter and garlic. This place makes the red clam chowder, which is what we prefer over the white & fresh crab bisque. You can get it by the cup or bowl or you can get a quart to take home. Both soups were amazballs. In fact, we haven't stopped talking about them since. We wished we would have got a quart of each to take home!!! The red clam chowder has potatoes/onions very hearty with their fresh local clams it's just fabulous. The crab bisque is cream based & has tons of fresh crab in it. Both of them are just divine. like i said we still are talking about these two soups. We can't wait to return for the quarts to go!!! Very cool dockside dining under the stars. Highly recommend.

We were definitely interested in some good, local seafood, and they delivered. We chose 2 orders of the small seafood bisque ($6) and 2 orders of the steamed clams ($9.59/dozen). My girlfriend tried one of the local blond beers ($6 - forgot the name). The seafood bisque was crab, shrimp and lobster in a creamy base. It was DELICIOUS! A little bit on the small size even for a small portion though. The steamed clams were in wine, butter, garlic and parsley served with garlic bread. They were TENDER and TASTY! The garlic bread was great for soaking up the clam broth. Service was friendly and efficient. Bathrooms were clean and odorless. PAY CASH and avoid the non-Cash fee ($1.42 in my case, just noticed that on the CC receipt!) Total was $42.13 before tip. The blue tint in the photos is from the anti-seagull tarp over the outdoor deck dining area.
