First visit to this popular eatery. Go early or you'll be waiting for a seat. The menu had lots of seafood choices. I ordered the fish and chips meal. You get an enormous piece of haddock and lots of fries. No mushy peas for those from the UK. My girlfriend got the blackend redfish which came with cole slaw and a crab cake. I ended up getting the crab cake. You get your choice of sides. Fish and chips excellent. In fact I couldn't finish it because it was so big. The crab cake was a bit on the salty side. My girlfriend's redfish was also a bit salty. The slaw was excellent. I will say in fairness that the redfish and crab cake wasn't salty the next day and tasted fine. Visited the new location We was told 45 min wait for seating with conformation of how many parties 4 in front . Receiving text when table ready. Not a problem The hold time we waited there was always one table empty. When asked hostess was rude addressing we had to wait 45 min although we had been waiting 40 mins and table was still vacant. 55 mins in we received text of table ready. Guess what that empty table was our table. It's not an overload cause every table was used. Maybe we just not her kind of people cause we don't wear orange and blue. I am not a seafood fan, so coming to a place like this, which specializes in seafood, could have been challenging for me. Our server was friendly and helpful. Monday's are margarita day so that was my drink of choice. The menu has lots of seafood, but also other items. I settled on the chicken Parmesan pasta. Food arrived timely and it was nice and hot. Italian is my go to food and I'm not picky about sauce, but this sauce was not for me. Not sure what the spice was, but I didn't care for it. It wasn't as bad on the pasta but the chicken was overloaded with it. Not my favorite meal and not my last either. I like the atmosphere and would choose something else next time. read more

We were visiting Cedar Key and we're looking a nice place for dinner. I had never been to Cedar Key before and I loved that you can basically walk anywhere! We stumbled upon Steamers, and decided to give it a try. We have our 80lb pitbull with us, so we needed somewhere with outdoor seating. Upon sitting, the waitress immediately showed up with a pitcher of ice water for the dog! Huge props in my book. In fact, all the servers stopped by to say hello to him, even bringing milk bones. We decided to start with a crab cake, and my husband had a blackened mahi sandwich and fries, and I had the clam bowl. (25 steamers in an amazing broth. The crab cake was large and prepared and cooked perfectly. It was served with a flavorful remoulade sauce. My clam bowl was served with two hot yeasty rolls. The broth was so good I may have eaten a few spoonfuls as a soup. And the clams were perfect. My husband loved his sandwich. He was it was perfectly seasoned, and was very tasty. We went to 'downtown' Cedar Key Monday night to go out for dinner. Our first 2 choices were closed on Monday, so we went to the 2nd street cafe, and at first we were confused because all the servers had tshirts that said Steamers and our menu said Steamers. So since we are new to the area, we had to ask. 2nd street cafe and Steamers are owned by the same person and the original Steamers location had a devastating fire just before hurricane Helene hit. So they operate both restaurants out of the same location. 2nd street cafe for breakfast and lunch and Steamers for dinner. Our server did say they are planning to build a new building somewhere, but i'm not really sure where. We had the gator bites to start, they were pretty good. And I had pasta Alfredo with grilled salmon on top, which was fantastic. And my husband had the seafood pasta. Also, there was a special for margaritas, and they were very tasty as well. read more

Not many restaurants remain since the last hurricane and Steamers is now located at the Second St Cafe. Good food ... good company. Clams are exceptional... I found the Diablo lived up to its name... and stuck to the butter and garlic next time. My companion stuck to a humongous grouper sandwich... one of the best we've had. read more

Food is good but service was TERRIBLE! Nothing like the old Steamers. Had to get up from our table to ask to place order, nobody checked to see if delivered meal was ok and had to get up to go pay. We're not picky but after waiting 15-20 minutes in a restaurant that's about 1/3 full is pathetic. read more

Spent a night on Cedar Key and had many locals recommend Steamers. Are on the porch with heaters to help out a chilly night. Cynthia was pleasant and helpful throughout the meal. Enjoyed the Build your Own combo with fried oysters and Grouper.. Our other entree was the highly recommended Seafood Pasta. Both dishes were well prepared and portioned. Fish was flavorful, and the pasta dish was filled with seafood, drizzled with a Balsamic for a nice touch. Meal was priced well, and large portion's. Service was Cynthia was above average. A group of friends and I ate at this restaurant and enjoyed every bit! The area was hit by the hurricane about a year ago and we have been waiting until now to come. Upon entering we were welcomed by a dear woman who was absolutely charming. She made solid recommendations and returned with our drinks quickly. Just so you are aware, they do have bar service also. It was particularly chilly and misty that day so we ordered at pot of steamed clams to start. They were Amazing! Seasoned in flavorful broth and perfectly cooked. We talked about them for days ! Our entrees came and every plate was filled with seafood !!! We ate and spoke little, which is tell tale of an Excellent chef! Disappointed for a few reasons. First, the portion of the combo plate (blackened grouper) was small and not filling. Not sure if they recognized us as out of towners and skimmed our meal. Second, their initial bill overcharged us by over $30. Upon our review, we spotted it and called the waitress over. Her reaction was a little strange.... she did not act surprised.... instead she immediately said she knew what happened. Just an odd experience which made us feel like they were hoping we wouldn't notice the upcharge. They removed the extra charges. Clams were pretty good. This was our first time to Cedar Key and stumbled upon this gem. We sat outside which was under shade and had a delicious meal. The service was excellent and ambiance was nice and relaxing. I had the crab claws and they were amazing. I have a garlic allergy and they made sure that everything was good. I had the grilled fish sandwich and it was a very large piece of fish. We went to Steamers Clam Bar and Grill for dinner on 12/11/25. I had a combo deal of blackened Redfish and scallops with a loaded baked potato and mixed vegetables. My wife had little neck clams from right off Cedar Key. All the food was well seasoned and tasted excellent. Our server, Catie O. was wonderful. She made sure we had everything that we needed. We enjoyed the art work decorating the walls too. I had wanted to come here since before the fire on Dock Street that destroyed the original location as a friend of mine had recommended them. Wife and I split two appetizers; the crab cake and the clam chowder. As you would expect in a seafood joint on Cedar Key, both were outstanding! Wife ordered the crab ravioli in Alfredo and really enjoyed it. I had the fish dinner. Our waitress Carley recommended the Redfish and my choice of pan seared was an excellent way to cook without the dry-out you can sometimes get with broiled fish. I'm glad they were able to move to a new location after the two devastating hurricanes that hit Cedar Key so badly. We have been long-time patrons of Steamers, often driving down several times a year specifically to enjoy your grouper sandwich. However, after our experience last night, we will not be returning. The service we received was the worst we have ever experienced. Several servers looked directly at us multiple times without acknowledgment. It took 12+ minutes before we were even given menus, while other tables that arrived after us were seated and served immediately. Our server never returned after dropping off our food. While we noticed other tables were checked on by multiple members of the staff, we were ignored. We eventually had to go to the counter ourselves to request and pay our check. It is disappointing to have such a poor experience at an establishment we have enjoyed for so long. So much for a nice birthday dinner. read more

Last night my wife and I drove to cedar key Florida from Ocala to have a cocktail, a bite to eat and to watch the Sunset at hideaway Tiki Bar. Unfortunately, there was no food so we meandered on down the road and happened upon Steamer's. Apparently they found an alternative building to operate out of while theit restaurant is being rebuilt after the fire. A young lady greeted us by the name of Faith and she recommended a pasta medley that had shrimp, scallops, and a host of seafood delicacies that had me enjoying myself immensely! My wife had a Giant taco salad that she enjoyed thoroughly! I cannot remember ever having had such a wonderful seafood meal. I asked that the chef come out to meet us so I could thank him/her personally and to provide a personal (thank you tip) for such a wonderful meal. As it was at the end of the night and there were only a couple guests left we assumed a moment to be thanked by a guest and in our case (guests) and a personal tip would be appreciated and was most definitely in order. However, even after 4 requests it was not to be. That's too bad. I always go the extra mile when it warranted, but being snubbed was quite embarrassing. I will say that Faith was awesome both in her recommendations and service and we could not have asked for more from her and I apologized for asking to have the cook/chef come out several times when it was clear no such person found it important enough. As I said, I was embarrassed and quite frankly offended. My wife and I have always been generous to the behind the scenes personnel and would never fail to extend our heartfelt appreciation for a job well done. This is how a business builds repeat clientele. It is important that the front line workers be at their best, and when possible, that people know who is preparing their food, and rewards excellent service, especially in a restaurant that has moved to a new location. Chef Kim Cash has always come out to greet her guests at The Island Hotel just down the street and such personal touches are meaningful to us as her guests. When you take your guests for granted you lose them permanently. When you spend the money to travel 175 miles round trip, plus the price of eating out these days, I don't think it expecting too much to be made to feel just a little special, but sadly, some people have no couth when it comes to their customers. However, The wait staff were stellar, perhaps they did the cooking for all we know. The food was simply awesome. The person who prepared the food could not be bothered to even say thank you for your compliments and being repeat guests (which would have been known if time had been taken to learn of). No one should ever offend or embarrass a guest, especially one who is thrilled at being there. I imagine the last two people in the restaurant required so much that a moment to answer a guest request to say thank you in person was asking for too much. On another note, I have an extra $20 to share with someone who does appreciate my business so it is a win win after all. I do feel that taking your customers for granted is a sure way of losing them, their referrals and their online media image that is vital to a business. Thank you Faith for all your efforts but I remain embarrassed and will not be returning. read more

Had lunch at Steamers in Cedar Key this last Friday. 4 of us were part of a larger Rv group in the area, and decided to try this little spot. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the weather was beautiful so we sat outside. Service was quick and friendly. We all had something different: i had thr shrimp tacos with slaw and cilantro dressing... it was delicious! My husband had the patty melt (he ate every bite of the substantial sandwich) and our friends had the grilled cheese ( three different cheeses, she raved about how good it was) and her hubs had the grouper which also got two thumbs up! The french fries were exceptional! I plan to make this restaurant a requirement for every visit to cedar key from now on. read more

We ate here 3 out of the 4 nights we stayed. Bartenders Carly & Taylor were hands down amazing! We brought fish for hook & cook and it was cooked perfectly. Great food in the touristy stop by the pier. The whole dining room has views of the ocean which was really nice. We were sat right away on a Friday night. We shared oysters Rockefeller and each had blackened shrimp Caesar salad. The oysters were delicious! So flavorful! The salads were also delicious. Fresh chopped romaine, tons of shredded Parmesan and no skimping on the croutons. We also split a key lime cake which was good, although I've had better.
