I was disappointed by my experience today. After ordering ice cream for my children and having it prepared, I was informed that Apple Pay was not accepted. I had successfully used contactless payment there before and didn't see any signage indicating otherwise. Since many customers rely on digital wallets today, I think clear signage would help avoid awkward situations at checkout. They have flavored softserve that is absolutely delicious-- really recommend the peanut butter flavor. The folks at the window are nice and patient if you need a minute looking at the menu. I don't begrudge them at all as they are very popular but there isn't anything special about the place other than location. Parking is cramped and lines are long and frankly it seems pricey. Perry's ice cream is everywhere. I don't get the appeal. That said they make a good cone and have the BBQ place next door. read more

We have been coming here for 20+ years, and in recent years, several times a week because we are either related to or know the staff well from the community. The owner of the Big Dipper slammed the window in our face tonight mid order because he is too concerned with leaving a half hour early and wanted to clean. He has no people skills and zero regard or respect for the customers he serves. I feel awful for the girls who then have to apologize for him every time he is rude, which is pretty consistently since Covid, at the very least. Yummy! So happy I found this place again! I randomly drove by it one day and loved the selection of icecream. It was delicious! I feel bad for the teenagers working here terrified of the owner who is a nasty man with no customer service or care of the community. The family in front of me had a child's ice cream roll off the cone and they CHARGED the mom again for another small scoop. That's disgusting first of all. Then I ordered for my elderly grandmother who was with me and they made the wrong ice cream. I told the young lady it was wrong and she told me she would have to charge me again for making the wrong item!!! I told her I wanted to talk to the manager and the "famous Dave" walked over with a angry look and waved his hand and the window and walked in the opposite direction. Wouldn't even talk to me! They also have a BBQ area if you are hungry. While, yes there's always a line, you need the time to make a choice. We were in the Broome County area on a roadtrip-stroll down Memory Lane, as we used to live here about ten years ago. The Tasty Cream just East of the Big Dipper was our go-to ice cream fave, but unfortunately they were closed on the 4th. On our way down 434, we saw a crowd at Big Dipper, and pulled in for our ice cream fix. The menu has A LOT to offer here: all of the usual soft serves, hard scoops, and sundaes you'd expect, plus many specialties. I went with a small PB & marshmallow sundae. The ice cream was smooth, and the toppings were generous. I was sweetly satisfied. My husband asked about the "Reversed Banana Split" which was $9. The kind window attendant explained it as sort of a banana split parfait, where everything is layered. He loves a good banana split, so he went for it ... AND HOLY-BANANA-SPLIT-COW!! After he ordered, they told him they'd bring it out the side, and this thing practically needed it's own garage door to come out of, JUST HUGE!! For $9 you expect a good size, but THIS was JUST BEYOND. Literally EVERYONE sitting around us immediately asked "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT??!!" It is served in a clear plastic container that takes two hands to hold. The strata of ice cream and banana split toppings within is just MARVELOUS!! My husband was in seventh heaven, probably eighth heaven, it was THAT GOOD!! :-D We needed to stop in the next town over to take a stroll around the shops to help him settle the delicious gluttony that was the "Reversed Banana Split" from Big Dipper. If you are a banana split fan, do yourself a favor and try one!! But probably not too often, it is only a sometimes treat--this thing practically has its own zip code!! :-O :-D ;-) read more

Best ice cream in the Binghamton Area! They have about 40 flavors, all Perry's, and it's impossible to choose what you want! There's so many good flavors. Try two scoops in a waffle cone, it's great for under $5. I always get hard ice cream, but my buddy always gets soft serve. He's a big fan. One word of warning, they don't take credit cards, so be sure to bring plenty of cash. read more

Waited in line for 20 minutes all for us to get to the window at 6:45 and the person at the window said they won't make hot dogs or French fries anymore-only ice cream. Even though there is so signs stating that they stop serving food before they close. Plus the girl at the window was super rude about it. That's not customer service at all. When they have long Lines of people yet they rarely have more than 2 out of 4 service windows open. No Thanks. Why add more people? Customers will wait, more profit.
