Big Ed's has burned to the ground a few years ago and not rebuilt or relocated. Was good food though.

Let's start with the expected: chicken fried chicken was amazing. The loaded fry appetizer also amazing. Sides were great. Mac and cheese and green beans both well above average to me. The waitresses were all so helpful and sweet. But let's talk about the other amazing part. This place feels right out of a post apocalyptic movie! If you've ever wanted to feel "out of this world" or in a community fenced off from the zombie apocalypse and struggling to make you feel some normalcy in your life... THIS IS THE PLACE. My goodness I loved it. An old couple in the corner was playing some Garth Brooks covers to set the mood. A "straight from the 80s arcade room" in the back had some flashing lights shine through the doorway into the main dining room. Also... this place was packed. The dusty parking lot did not have a single spot for us open and we had to wait on a parking spot. No wait when we got inside luckily. But back to the post apocalyptic vibe... I really can't explain it much better. The 80s arcade... the wood paneling on the walls. The old toy heavy machinery and trains lining the walls. The smell of the food thickening the air. Even the staff... all unique as can be!!! Don't forget the overstock Christmas plates they pulled out for us to use!!! Highly recommend this place for the food... but if you've ever wanted to experience what a restaurant would be like after the zombies take over... Give yourself a treat and come here!!!

We were not bothered by that but some people may certainly be bothered by it. The waitress came to the table and asked if we needed a menu, she brought silverware and asked us what we wanted to drink. It appeared there was one waitress and one cook. We brought our drinks and asked what we wanted to eat and I said I wanted to pancakes with bacon and the I said are you sure are pancakes are really large as she motioned to about the size of a plate. I said yes I want two of them and I could have done without the eye roll at not taking her suggestion. The hubby ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs, hash browns, and sausage. She brought out our meal and asked if we needed more coffee or tea. It was a good breakfast and there was plenty of food to eat. We left there satisfied and I am sure when we are back in the Celina, Tennessee area we will stop in here again.

Cookeville is such a small, quaint, and friendly town with such genuine charm to it. My husband and I visit his mimi every year and as part of our tradition, we select a restaurant in town to eat at to give her a break from cooking us meals. This year we chose Spankies! We were greeted by warm, welcoming faces, and the restaurant's ambiance felt comfortable and inviting. We ordered quite a variety from the menu! And every single dish, from the starters, to the entrées, to the sides were each absolutely delicious! You cannot go wrong with any order. 5 stars for a lovely experience!

The menu had something for everyone--from salads to burgers and classic bar food. The tostada salad was a hit I forgot to take a picture. I have mixed feelings about the visit. While the food was a hit (everyone enjoyed their orders), the service was a bit slow. It took a while after being seated, to place our orders, and finally get our food. Our server was very sweet, but seemed stretched thin--possibly juggling too many tables. Overall, a decent local stop with a solid menu, but be prepared for a more relaxed pace when it comes to service.

The Eatin' Table in Tompkinsville, KY is a warm, no-frills hometown restaurant that does comfort…read morefood very well -- think generous breakfasts, classic burgers, smoked BBQ specials, and a menu that reads like a love letter to Southern diner favorites. The dining room feels clean and welcoming, the service is friendly and down-to-earth, and portions are hearty enough that the regulars (and visiting challengers) keep returning. Standout strengths are the breakfast offerings and the house-sized portions: the restaurant is locally famous for its oversized "Mike's Big Breakfast" challenge and consistently large, satisfying plates that make it an ideal stop for a hungry traveler or a family meal. There's a lot to like if you enjoy generous pancakes, thick-cut toast, crispy hashbrowns, or smoked chicken and brisket options. Service tends to be warm and personal, and staff are attentive and helpful. However, a few patrons report occasional order misses during busy shifts, so a polite reminder about any special sides can be beneficial. The restaurant also appears active on local social channels and delivery platforms, which makes takeout an easy fallback. In short, choose The Eatin' Table when you want honest, filling Southern comfort food served with small-town hospitality. It's a supportive, friendly spot that shines at breakfast and offers reliable, flavorful plates for lunch or dinner. It's perfect for visitors exploring Monroe County who want hearty portions and a welcoming vibe.
