What a gem! We were leaving Nashville and wanted to get breakfast but every place we stopped at had an hour's wait. We decided to keep going towards home and the I Exit app showed this restaurant. It had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. They serve breakfast all day and even though it was 11:30 that's what we wanted. We chose the Country Boy breakfast with tenderloin. I asked if we could get grits instead of hash browns and our server said sure. We split the breakfast and it was more than enough food for splitting. The coffee came right out, hot and fresh. The food came out shortly after. I can't say enough about how delicious it was. We will definitely stop here again because our son lives in Nashville so we will take this route often. A cozy step back in time spot located right off center hill lake! We stopped here after a chilly morning motorcycle ride and it was just what we needed. Greeted by a couple of older ladies running the show, I felt like we're on run from smokey! Their prices are more than fair, very cheap, with a good portion size to accompany! Came here based off reviews & still wondering if we went to the place all these folks are talking about. DO NOT order hamburger steak, no amount of any kind of condiment will improve it. Fries were soggy, salad was brown, dressing not homemade...... and the worst part... I REALLY wanted to try the Chocolate Meringue pie but the server never came back... not even once. In fact, we had to walk up to the register & tell her what we had to pay the bill so we could leave. No drink refill, no "how's everything tasting", no "can I get you anything else". We went during the dinner time rush. My friend wanted to try this restaurant that she has heard me talk about a meat and 3 for a reasonable price and a healthy portion of food. Tonight the 3 of us, my boyfriend decided to join us... He had the spaghetti with meat sauce, (he chose to not eat the salad), garlic toast and sweet tea. The food has always was amazing! The best thing about this place is definitely their pie! So far, we have only tried the chess pie and then I'm not really sure what it was called, but it had chocolate caramel and chocolate again. It was amazing. The catfish always comes out piping hot! It's a quaint little place from the outside. Very roomy inside. Nice, kinda' farm style decor. The food was great! We were passing through headed home to Murfreesboro, saw this little place and decided to stop in about 4 pm on a Saturday. Reviews are good, so we gave it a shot! Food was amazing if you like down home southern cooking. They're known for cat fish and desserts, but we got the chicken livers and roast beef with sides, then a piece of coconut meringue pie to go! Arrived in Tennessee for a girls trip. We stumbled upon The Rose Garden Restaurant on our way to Cummins Falls straight out the airport, hungry and tired. The service was great. Our waitress was sweet, our food came out quickly, and most importantly tasted delicious. We got the classic chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy. I'll start with the sign that's posted above the register: If it isn't fried it isn't food! We went with a group of five friends. Everyone ordered fried food. Fried cod, fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried grilled cheese, french fries, hush puppies yep and also, some coleslaw. The food itself was fairly predictable fried food. The standouts were the hush puppies that were deliciously seasoned, the tarter sauce which was on point and the cocktail sauce which was clearly a special homemade recipe with a zing of pep. The fries were not crispy enough. Just standard frozen crinkle fries slightly undercooked. The coleslaw was creamy and a really nice texture. I like my coleslaw to have a vinegar snap to it and this one was definitely more plain mayonnaise flavor but still good. All of the mains were good and what you'd expect and nobody complained. The service was on point 100 percent. Really lovely servers who were friendly and attentive. Highlight: THE PIE We ordered a homemade coconut cream pie to take with us. The crust was perfect flaky deliciousness. The coconut filling was light, fluffy and perfectly sweet. The meringue and coconut on top was toasted perfection. I'd definitely go back. It's not fancy but the ambiance, servers, decent food, fair prices, wonderful servers and the pie all make it a place I'll keep on my list. read more

We love this place. When they say home cooking, they mean it. Most everything is cooked fresh, so don't expect greese lightning fast service. (sometime we call ahead, place order in advance so it's ready when we arrive) They expanded a few years ago, plenty of room for large groups. The men's room is a little odd, but always clean and nice smelling. There's parking for your big rig in the back. Down to earth and down-home good cookin' at more-than fair prices. This is a rustic gem located just off I-40. We were just finishing up an extended tour of the Eastern seaboard - some by Interstate, some by rural mountain roads. Nearing home, we wanted just a bite to eat before our last ninety minute drive of this 3000+ mile journey. Checked Yelp and found this simple, homespun diner. Just plain ole' Meat 'n Three (today's was Pulled Pork as the only meat) or a sandwich and sides. We chose the latter and started our simple lunch with some Fried Green Tomatoes. These were ok but noting great, fried fine but a bit flat and hard, as if they'd beed frozen and dropped in a deep fryer. The accompanying dipping sauces, Ranch and Horseradish (yum) were helpful. I also had a good ole' hamburger on Texas Toast, dripping with a bit of butter (or whatever shortening they use) and it absolutely hit the spot (and left one or two on my shirt). Didn't oder any of the sides, but I noticed that other diners who ordered the same as I had mounds of fries and overflowing dishes of beans and such on their plates. The portions are generous. One reason to forego a side was that I wanted to keep it simple but also try a slice of their pie. OH MY! Glad I did. In fact, I ordered two slices...one a sour cherry that was delicious, the other a slice of Chess Pie. Good Golly Miss Molly, when you're eating' like this you can hear your momma call (apologies to Little Richard). Our timing was great...in terms of our schedule and in terms of the restaurant being nearly empty when we arrived and absolutely full when we left. Obviously other folks know about this little gem just off the beaten path. (FYI....2 sandwiches and 3 pieces of pie = less than $20) read more

Whoever is doing the cooking in the kitchen has real talent and a feel for the tastes of the South.
