The broccoli was the best I've ever had, the Mac and cheese was delicious and the pork chop was perfect! The service was a bit slow but well worth the wait for this delicious lunch! read more

I was not expecting much from a Mediterranean style menu in this part of the country but Lo and behold this was quite the meal! Our cocktails were very well crafted and our food was- from the Greek salad to the gyro plate - excellent! The lightly fried cod though on the fish sandwich and finger dishes was the star of the show. It must have been flown in fresh. Stopped in for lunch with friends. Food was AMAZING! We tried the fried cauliflower - freshly made and so good! For entries we tried the fried grouper fingers and gyro with sides of French fries, sweet potato fries, and sautéed green beans. Everything was fresh and handmade. And the portions were so generous. We all had to-go boxes. Our server was also excellent and took great care of our table. I will be back soon! read more

The Braised Greek Chicken dish is an absolute loser. A giant bowl of pasta covered with a gallon of sauce and 3, I said, 3 pieces of chicken the size of a small McNugget. Time before that was served a literal bowl of what they claimed was layered Lasagne. It was some noodles that were swimming in the same gallon of sauce. Wow! We stopped in for a late afternoon meal. My wife had the fried shrimp tossed in Nashville hot sauce with Brussel sprouts, and I had lasagna. Both were delicious, but I gotta admit I was blown away by that shrimp! A wonderful find, and highly recommended when visiting Sparta, TN. read more

The brown butter Carmel cake is not to be missed. You will not want to... But you should share it. It's too good. The servers are welcoming and warm. Lots of smiles and quick service. Really enjoyed this local gem while driving through this beautiful area. Our Greek salads were very fresh and flavourful, and the gyro meat was delicious. What a delightful dining experience. Our waitstaff was on the ball every time we needed something. The place was rather busy but we were seated right away. We shared the spinach pie appetizer and would love to have an entire plate to ourselves! They were nicely browned and the dough was light and flakey. I enjoyed my glass of red wine with the gyro platter with a baked potato side. I ordered extra tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed myself. My partner had the sirloin with Gouda mac and cheese and sautéed broccoli. The steak was thick cut and perfectly medium rare. The broccoli was well done and the mac and cheese is something that could be a regularly ordered item. The espresso martini to finish the meal was great-just right on the coffee taste without the alcohol overpowering it. We will definitely go back to explore more of the menu. The only reason I didn't reward 5 stars is that there is a 1" wide ledge running along the length of the wall beside and above the tables that needs to be routinely wiped each night. I don't think it's been done for some time per the layer of dust on it. However, I will note the restrooms are clean and well maintained. read more

Brothers Tavern is a nice new addition to Sparta! We ordered the fried pickles for an appetizer and they came with a delicious, zesty sauce. They were seriously some awesome fried pickles. We loved them! We also split a blood orange drink that was quite nice. I ordered the lasagna for my entree, and my husband ordered a mix of kabobs. I would rate the lasagna a 7.75/10 probably. It was yummy and a HUGE portion, the only thing I will say is there seemed to be a weird spice in the seasoning of the sauce. My husband noticed it as well. It wasn't something we could put of finger on, but slightly threw off the dish. Other than that, it was super good and flavorful. His kabobs were pretty yummy, the shrimp was a tad overcooked but we recognize that's a common thing at a lot of restaurants and know it's easy to do. The veggies weren't cooked very well but honestly he didn't care about that. I believe the pork kabobs were the yummiest. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back! read more

We were in town for an archery tournament, and were looking for a restaurant that had a good variety of choices for a mixed crowd. After checking out the menu online, we decided to try this place, and we're glad we did. It's a pretty small place, in a historic building. It was a bit loud inside, so if you're looking for a quiet spot this probably isn't it. We started our meal with fried pickles, and they were some of the best I've tried. They have a pretty broad selection- burgers, steaks, pasta, Greek food, and sandwiches. I had the gyro, which was excellent and HUGE. My wife had the grouper fingers, and they were some of the best we've had outside of Florida. Two of our party had the linguine Alfredo, which was dangerously good. You can add a protein (chicken, shrimp, or steak) to it and it makes quite a meal. The portion size was massive. I'd love to report on the desserts, but we were all way too full for that. Every one of us brought home at least half of our meal. If you happen to be in Sparta for any reason, give this place a try. You'll be glad you did! read more

What a hidden gem. We stopped in Sparta and ate at Brothers Tavern for the first time. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We dined at 4 pm. Not crowded. Gyro platter and lasagne. The flavors are very Greek influenced and are so delicious. Loved the gyro platter. Amazing. Rita our server was the best. Very knowledgeable on all the food. Ask question if you are not sure what to order. She will help you out! Music was classic rock which we love. So that was nice. Wine and beer very good. We were driving back to Indiana after attending the Peach Bowl football game in Atlanta and stopped at this great restaurant. Two of us had the special, which was a delicious stew; the other two of us had burgers. Everything was wonderful. The waitperson was friendly and helpful. I gave Brothers Tavern a second try last night. A few weeks ago I had the Greek Gyro and wasn't at all impressed. The thin mixed ground lamb/beef combination was an odd flavor, to me, and overly salted. This said... last night I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and it was delicious. The shrimp were a little over salted (for me) but it was OK because the pasta was perfectly cooked and light on the salt. The butter and garlic sauce was just the right amount of flavors. Wow!! Beautiful use of an old space. The blending of modern touches with old exposed brick is stunning, welcoming, and comfortable. Portion sizes are huge. The best gyro plate I've ever had. Tender and flavorful with enough left over at least another full meal. Spinach pies appetizer was delicious. Wait staff and hostess were excellent. We were so pleased we asked to meet the chef. OMG!! My husband and I are foodies. We have traveled all over the world trying different cuisines. This place is by far THE BEST Greek food we have had! The Gyro plate was enormous and the meat was so incredibly tender and seasoned perfectly. I had the Chicken Souvlaki with green beans. I swear they stuffed half a chicken into that huge pita and again it was seasoned perfectly. The green beans were phenomenal! They definitely were not canned or frozen, they were fresh and so buttery they just melted in my mouth. It maybe considered pricey for some but the portion sizes definitely make up for it as you'll have leftovers maybe even 3 meals out of one depending on how much you eat. For my husband and I it was $62. That included an appetizer, a beer and both of our meals. But again knowing that we both have at least one more meal out of it, it's really only $31 for two.
