We may be a bit biased as we both used to work here back in 2016 (my hubby and I) but Big E's was our love connection! Haha However we always loved the food, cocktails, craft beer offering and AWESOME hospitality. Our server was Mel, super sweet and was spot on with her service. The pizza pinwheels are a MUST try if you love pizza - so freaking tasty and they have a great spicy ranch to pair with it! (Last visited 9/2/2021.) While working in Midland, MI for a week I had the chance to dine at Big E's Sports Grill many times, but most of them for breakfast. Lol. You can buy breakfast through the hotel, but you can also just pay the restaurant directly. The one time I did dine here in the evening it was for #WingWednesday! Atmosphere/Appearance: Connected to the Holiday Inn in Midland, MI is this gem. I'm usually iffy on on restaurants that are connected to hotels due to many past experiences, but I had actually asked some of the people I was working for and repeatedly, I heard to check out Big E's for the best wings in town. Well damn, now I had to check this place out! Once down the hallway from the hotel lobby and through the big doors is this gem. (Of course there's a separate entrance that leads directly to the parking lot on the opposite of the restaurant.) This restaurant delivers a BIG OPEN concept with the help of the high ceilings and just being a big ass restaurant. Lol. The bar is set right in the middle with booths and low-top tables all around. It's a sports bar so it's very lively, but not terribly noisy. Service: I actually didn't experience much table service because there's very little interaction at breakfast time and when I got food for dinner I took it to-go. Food: The breakfast omelet and the breakfast burrito were fabulous. Both entrees were super filling and made me want to take a nap after breakfast rather than get up to be active. Lol. So in the evening I managed to try 4 of their wing flavors. The Garlic Parmesan was super creamy, full of flavor and just was executed so well. Shark Bite was a mixture of sweet and spicy with the use of honey as the sweetener. The wing was very well balanced and certainly a flavor I'd get again. The Hot Buffalo was decently spicy and not really worthy of making a ruckus about. Last, but not least was the Volcanic wing. It's the hottest wing that they offer, but merely was only a 6.5 on the Weavi Heat Scale. I definitely enjoyed the heat though. One thing all the wings had in common, they were huge. All were a grand size and that made me so happy. Lol. Value: I can't speak for the breakfast entrée prices since they came as a part of my hotel package, but I can say, the wings were $20.00 for 20 wings. THAT IS A GOOD DEAL in today's economy! Unwelcoming and Disappointing If you're not a local, don't expect to feel welcome here. We came in to watch our home team, and the heckling from regulars started the moment we walked through the door. After our team won--and after just one beer--we were told the staff was "uncomfortable" serving us and asked to leave. This wasn't a one-time fluke. The same thing happened last year: locals making visiting guests feel unwanted while management looked the other way. For a hotel bar that should cater to travelers, it's a complete failure. Guests deserve a friendly, inclusive environment--not hostility and favoritism. There are too many options in Midland to treat travelers like this. Even though I don't drink, I keep coming back for the good food--especially the burgers and pizzas, which are seriously top-notch. The service is fantastic, the vibe is upbeat, and there are screens everywhere so you never miss a moment of the game. This is a restaurant connected to a hotel, so I'm reviewing this as a hotel guest. There are a surprising number of vegetarian options (the pizza rolls can easily be ordered without meat; there's a vegetarian sub, etc.). If you're entertaining clients after a meal, there's an extensive drinks menu, and if you ask them to customize your pour (I like my drinks weak) they actually do. It gets pretty busy and loud for dinner. I usually prefer to stay at a Holiday Inn Express so I'm not waiting on staff to settle up my breakfast before I get on to my meetings, but the breakfast buffet here is pretty quick, and a couple of small steps above a "free breakfast" buffet. (There is fresh salsa and tortillas with the eggs; there's a tray of nice mixed fruit. The scrambled eggs still looked like they're out of a box, though.) I tried the avocado toast off the breakfast menu; pretty tasty and they came out and checked that I had enough guacamole on my bread. The only drawback is that the coffee is brought to you, and a carafe of coffee is never enough, but if you need more, they have free coffee in the lobby you can grab on your way out. read more

While ordering asked if we could substitute mac and cheese instead of fries for the slider meal and was told no, so we got fries & a side a mac. Someone else ordered the same thing but skipped on the fries , and on the bill it was $3 added to the slider meal vs. $6 for a side of mac and cheese. Never came back after we got our meal until we were finishing our last few bites , which two people in our parties burgers were undercooked for them, and both sides of mac and cheese were cold from the start, but she told us that if it sits for a minute it gets cold. Not a fan... after being so excited to try! We stayed in the adjacent Holiday Inn and had a blast at the hotel! We had younger kids with us and they were hungry after 8pm so we stopped in. We ordered food immediately because the kids were "starving". we ordered 2-3 appetizers and then 3 brownie sundaes! After waiting for over an hour we asked if the meals could be placed in to go to containers because the younger kids were getting antsy and tired. They said sure and were nice and said it'd be out soon... after another 30-45 minutes they were brought out to us. When we got back to our room we opened up the sundaes to find out we only got one brownie and only chocolate ice cream... much to the kids disappointment. Then the fried pickles only came with 5 and i'm not kidding! Finally the mozzarella sticks the batter was still raw on the inside of the HUGE chunk of cheese. We've been going to Big E's for years and I just think the quality has gone downhill. We get mostly the same thing every time: Cobb salads and the truffle fries. Unfortunately, the last few times, the lettuce has been subpar (brown and soggy) and the portion of the fries is super small (since the price is $11). I went here prior to a shopping trip with a friend. We had ordered a couple of drinks and appetizers. I had picked the spinach artichoke dip and she picked the loaded tots. Both of the appetizers were good. If I remember correctly they were nearly the same price but the loaded tots came with a significant amount more food. This place was pretty average. As I was enjoying our appetizer based lunch there were several flies that would not seem to leave us alone.
