Not only are the hiking trails wonderful, but the actual park itself is great. It's super clean with lots of parking and restrooms on site. They've got a kid's playground area, a soccer field, and even a track for some easy exercise. There's also an adjoining park that has tons of picnic tables and outdoor exercise equipment as well as several large grassy fields and walking paths (Hidden Valley Park). And those lakes! They are simply beautiful. They really sneak up on you too. I took a short walking path from Hidden Valley Park and connected to Hidden Lakes. Turned a corner and then BOOM! This beautiful little lake seemingly appeared out of nowhere. There's a nice little waterfall. Not sure if there are actually any fish in this lake, but I did witness one person fishing (or at least trying too). The hikes in this park are all on the shorter side but perfect for a quick little jaunt. You can also extend it by connecting the nearby walking paths for a longer excursions. What's nice is that there are several hills that you can climb up to get some inclines in. And once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with some wonderful views of tbt entire park as well as some great panoramic views of the city. I was seriously in awe during my entire time here. This is such a gorgeous and extremely well maintained park that's perfect for kids, pets, and families. Will definitely be getting my butt out here again before the end of summer.

I took a nice stroll on the sidewalk that winds around the pier and by a restaurant and some homes. The ocean view stayed front and center the entire time. There wasn't many people there at the time I went. It felt like I owned the area to myself for a little bit :) There's street parking (free). There were benches all along the sidewalk and the pier, if you just want to sit and watch the ocean waves. I definitely will be returning for some more Vitamin sea time! :)

At the time, consistent and abundant catches were common, making it a reliable and enjoyable experience. Over the past two decades, however, the fishing experience has significantly declined. Despite repeated visits, particularly with my parents, we have consistently encountered disappointing results. Recently, the property changed ownership, and since then, fish populations appear to have diminished. As a result, I no longer take my children fishing there, as the current conditions no longer support successful or enjoyable fishing. My parents, who continue to visit, also report recurring disappointment.

The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

I believe we would have gotten our boats limit, but there were a few kids enjoying the experience and were not paying too much attention to their poles, but that's OK. Few missed opportunities, but that's fishing. I know numbers can impact the reputation of the boat without really knowing the context. I will look exclusively to make a trip with Diamond or Lady K. Other boats that I have been on had arrogant deck hands and not so friendly captains.

A rough trail on the far side of the lake made for a somewhat challenging hike, climbing over giant rocks and weaving through trees and debris. It wasn't too bad though. The sandy beach area of the park is fenced off and only open seasonally, with a small fee to enter ($5 for adults, $3 for kids and the disabled, free for babies). But the beach cafe can be accessed from outside the gates and offers various menu items like coffee, tea, hot cocoa, smoothies, lemonade, pretzels, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, and ice cream. Lake Anza is free to visit, and offers free parking in a sizable lot. Restrooms are seemingly well kept too. I enjoyed my time here this past weekend.

There is a bridge and an area where kids like to explore the creek. There are other paths off the lake, but those do tend to have more mountain bikes. This is an especially nice park when we have our late summer weather in September and October. Plenty of parking.
