I have yet to use their service but after my interaction with two of their employees while I was at the Factoria transfer station, I am adding them to my contacts! I was there to unload a broken dryer and wasn't sure where to unload it. After getting it out of my vehicle by myself, I noticed two men taking appliances to an area about 50 ft away. I used Big haul to get some construction debris, they came to the site, immediately told me it would be more money than the quote/website, and I had to negotiate with them to get them to come finish the job(which they didn't do because they charged too little). They also ended up charging me more me more than their website claims, but the mis-communication on the initial job intake was the problem not the workers. This business failed to meet basic civic duties while on a jobsite in a shared community residence. Masks worn on the chin or below the nose today (Dec 18th 2020) in Ballard by a team of two white men, one husky and average height, one lean and tall. They were sullen and moving slowly. This company clearly has a lot of good infrastructure set up -- text confirmations, great website online. Their truck was clean, clearly branded, and parked in a courteous position based on local parking customs and regulations. But if they're willing to flaunt their health privileges (or health denialism) when out of sight of the resident they are serving, what else are they doing that is bad for our communities and the neighbors and neighborhoods they are serving? In what other ways are their teams not committed or not well-trained? Do they realize that their slothlike, scowling demeanor is broadcasting to all the neighbors and passersby what an hour of their time is worth? Businesses like this, your experience is highly dependent on the team you get assigned. I HOPE this team is a new one based on their recent expansion of service area, based on how many high reviews this business has on yelp. The crew that arrived to help us was great! They were quick, helped us figure out the best way to set items up for easy removal, and were very friendly. Customer service all they way through the experience was top notch. We do need to take one star off because scheduling was a bit challenging. The first scheduled pick up day ended up having to be rescheduled because the crew was really far behind (our window was 2pm - 4pm and it was almost 6pm by the time they were on the road to our location... by then we needed to leave due to other plans). The second scheduled pickup day was odd: the window was 8:30am to 10:30am, and we were told that we were the first pickup of the day. When I called to get an update from the crew on arrival time, I was told that they had just finished picking up the truck and getting set up for the day around 9:20am and that they would arrive in 50 minutes from that time. So... if it's not physically possible for the crew to even be in a truck and on the road until 9:30 (with a 40-50 minute drive to our place from there), why was our start time 8:30? They arrived around 10:15am and managed to get everything packed up just before 10:30, which was great! It just would have been nice for us to be able to sleep in a little bit if they knew for a fact ahead of time that there was no way they were going to arrive before 10am. It was the lowest estimate over the other junk removal services found on Yelp. They were able to take everything away and it was indeed ended up being 3/8 of their truck bed. I was looking for a company to efficiently move furniture within our home and to haul out old rugs and no-longer-needed furniture. This involved 6-7 rooms/spaces on multiple levels in our home and multiple pieces of furniture being moved to other locations in our home, including 3 beds, 4 desks, 1 antique pine cupboard, 1 antique hutch, 3 armoires, 1 sideboard, 3 chests of drawers, and the removal of 3 very large wool rugs. I sent an email inquiry at 10AM, got a response by 10:20AM, had an appointment by 10:45AM, the guys were here at 12:30PM, and my junk was gone by 12:45PM. Same day? I'll say!! They were polite, efficient, friendly, quick, and conscientious. Unlike some haulers who _say_ they recycle and donate but who really just dump it all in the back for disposal, Big Haul separates items for donation and recycling on the spot. This is a local company, and they were anywhere from 50%-75% cheaper than the bigger outfits. They hauled away a massive old-tube TV, three futon mattresses, a broke-down old chair, some old (but usable) DVD players, and a donatable exercise rowing apparatus. Even _with_ the (reasonable) $10 TV disposal fee, it was only $80. Estimates I got from the other guys started at around $200. These guys rock! read more

Upon searching for a cheap and affordable junk hauling company, i stumbled upon this local green company. Sure, I've seen shows like hbo's "Hoarders" and have seen the GOTJUNK folks around neighborhoods, but was aghast at their ridiculous prices. Instead I found these guys, Big Haul Junk Removal who definitely matched what I was really looking for. I called them with little notice around 8:15pm on a Sunday night expecting to get an answering machine. I had a roughly small load.100 sq feet of carpet and matting, some scrap tack wood and a nasty ugly bed frame with nasty ugly patterned sheets. Add a few flooring boxes folded up on this mound of crap living beside my beautiful couch. It was all but flattering and had to go. And go soon. The gentleman, who answered my call, booked me for the VERY NEXT DAY which was Monday around 1:30pm. I must say the price quote was $65 bucks as opposed to GOTJUNKS ridiculous $130-$150 prices Not only was the price right, the gentleman I spoke to was incredibly personable and experienced. I agreed to do this, and was ready to give my apartment a proper colonic. John (*or Jon) called me fifteen minutes before he was due to arrive. He was very fast and just overwhelmingly awesome with his fearlessness to get the job done. I had added some extra stuff for him to haul last minute, but fortunately he only added ten extra bucks. A total deal considering it was that nasty ugly bed frame I mentioned prior. I definitely liked the fact he was noninvasive and was in and out in about ten minutes tops, including the glass of water he consumed afterward. I asked him if Ten bucks was cool for his ten minutes of hauling and he brightened up and said "Yeah!" although it was followed up with a saddening note that people often don't tip movers. I did ask him what was wrong with humanity as moving is a service, and we all should know what TIPS are. It is an acronym meaning "To Insure Proper Service," AKA TIPS. Also what bastard doesn't tip people who haul nasty bed frames among other nasty stuff? Anyways, TIP your movers! I'm all about supporting the little small business guy as opposed to a gigantic corporation who pride themselves on "professionalism" and "teamwork." Oftentimes the littler guy is just as good, if not better at communicating and giving a more personable experience. These guys were great. My estimate was way off but that was my fault as I didn't realize I had that much junk. They called 45 mins prior to arrival and went to work ASAP. It was a garage clean out so they made sure to open each box beforehand and double check with me that it was ok to toss. They even swept up afterwards. Too few people and the wrong sized truck contributed a final cost that was 300% of phone estimate. The company men were demeaning to women, too.
