They are a discounted chain (regional chain I believe), and they are all so fun to shop in! Unlike Bargain Hunt which may sell well used or cosmetically damaged goods, Ollie's do not. I have bought several refurbished vacuums and steam cleaners from them years ago and they all still work perfectly. Oh wait I take back the damaged goods part regarding their paints. They sell paints that were mixed and purchaser ended up returning so lids may be bent or have paint splatter. No biggie. They have a TON of random stuff. I think their strengths are in their books selections, definitely TOYS make the list, and lastly their flooring. They always have in stock laminate flooring for much cheaper than the home improvement superstores. They have a warehouse feel to them so don't expect amazing service from all staff, and don't expect fancy restrooms and everything being neatly organized. If you haven't been, GO!

It was my first time to Ollies and I was super excited. Started to fill my cart up, feeling the Christmas shopping bug and holiday spirit. Then I get to the rug section to look at a few rugs. A lady a few feet away from me kindly asked the young employee if he could help her look at a rug because it was under a pile. He looked at her like she asked him to dig to China on his day off, then he marched over and said, which one? I'll jut let you imagine his tone of voice. She showed him the rug and this is when I couldn't look away. He said, and I will quote almost exactly, " That is an ugly rug. You want that one, you actually like it? She said, "Well, I like the rug. He said, Whatever you want, but that's an extremely ugly rug. I couldn't help myself, so I had to ask if they knew each other. She said no. Shocked, I said, "If you were my son, I would give you a piece of my mind, you should never speak to a customer that way. A few men that were walking near me popped up and agreed with me. What a bitter miserable human being to want to speak to another person that way. He just smirked at us. I had to walk away because it was too crazy to confront any further. I said my piece. I was told there were no managers to speak with, so I am here. It's a shame, because I believe in giving businesses a chance to resolve issues on their own before going to the internet, but they don't care. I was super nice on the phone and told them I just need to make Ollies aware of the situation so that they could speak with the employee about his behavior or maybe he need to go home and sleep his anger off. Someone needs to have an adult conversation with that kid. Either that or he is trying to get fired or in a confrontation. I was born and raised in East Tennessee. People don't treat each other that way around here. That is what makes Knoxville so special. Okay, I have said my piece and hopefully Ollies brings up ethics and the importance of kindness in one of their meetings. It's the holidays people! P.S. Immediately, my husband looked up the zip code for where we would be staying in Sevierville and found that there was an Ollie's located nearby. It became one of our first stops on the itinerary. This store was comparable in size to the one located near our home in Carmel, IN and the layout was similar as well. The staff was kind, and I loved everyone's Southern accents and hospitality. The deals were good, too. Shoppers were really stocking up! I saw one person purchase every ironing board that they had on the sales floor. Something tells me they were purchasing them for resale. It's Ollie's, a discount retail store that prides itself in a crazy assortment of stuff (some good, some junk) for really good prices.. and for that they do succeed. I'd rather come into one of these places and get amazing deals if it means they have to cut corners in other areas of running a retail store. I mean some discount retail places are so spic and span that the prices for their merchandise isn't much different than a big box retailer, and sometimes it'll even be MORE expensive. Not at Ollie's. Matter of fact, of all my experiences or Ollie's in 3 different states, their prices have been consistently cheaper. This particular one in Bristol is packed with stuff. And I mean lots and lots of stuff. Wished they were closer to me.
