I would give negative stars for a negative company and this store. I was SM at this location for…read moreover a year, infested with bugs, which is a huge no no with grocery. I had to call pest control every 2 weeks. Multiple safety and health issues. It's not up to state health standards by any means. (Was audited multiple times) on top of that, they treat their best employees like crap and barely pay minimum wage. Other than the great customers, this store and company really has nothing going for them other than recalled cheap products being bought from China at dirt cheap prices. The management is useless, grown people that act like children. Unprofessional. I scrubbed dirt off shelves where food was stocked that had been there for what it looked like a decade before I got there. Scrubbed mold off walls in the back room. The utility sink backs up with human feces from the cheap plumbing in the bathrooms in the stockroom where food is kept. I could go on and on about this store and multiple dollar trees I have worked for... I was retaliated against by the district manager, Kelly, hence why I said "was" Store manager, so you know if you call customer service, they won't do anything. (Trust me, I worked there) when I called corporate to get an explanation I got the run around and given wrong numbers. A multi million dollar company that craps on good employees and doesn't care for customer service one bit but will continue to steal your money by ripping you off with small quantities. I'm a corporate man that's had enough. I'd rather give my money elsewhere to a company that values employees and admits when they're wrong.

Other items in a case are vintage Scouts items not for sale. Cornell's is a time capsule that must be experienced. When in Newark just before Thanksgiving my hotel recommended when I forgot my coat back home. It was a short walk from the Doubletree. The store is on the main drag. Upon entering your immediately taken back to another time period of the old general stores. The amount of inventory on the walls, on the tables, well literally every where you look. There is new, there is vintage new such as concert T shirts from the 60's & 70's. What is not there is an odor, the place has no old stinky smell that you may imagine. Plus some items that the owner would never sell on display such as Levi's jeans that date back to the company's start and probably worth tens of thousands. Mr. Cornell, the owner in his 70's has stories he will share if you have time about the family history and four generations of operation. The location was originally a stage coach stop, but Cornell's has their own history too! Like Fats Domino playing pool with the owners Father in the 1950's. They also have an antique juke box dating to the early 40's. The passion that Mr. Cornell brings to the business is what really stands out in my mind. He offers quality merchandise and is proud of the history dating back almost a hundred years. You cannot find another store in the country that compares. It would be impossible! In my opinion he should set up an online store. The items are just so unique and there would be demand nationwide. I walked out with a classic Woolrich red and black checkerd jacket that set me back $250 or so. Don't miss this store if your even within hours.
