Came in here to grab a few household items. I had been looking for a comal ( griddle) for my tortillas. Found one that would work. I asked if there were any coupons and the nice associate said it would be in my email . Scoreeee .. 20% off and now I can make all the tortillas my little heart desires. Woot! Great customer service. I go in this store from time to time to check for bargains. You really never know what you mind find. A huge word of caution, though. Much of the merchandise here is actually more expensive than it would be in other more traditional stores, so be careful. You can some find good bargains on closeouts, etc, but you definitely need to be discriminating. They also have some pretty good inexpensive furniture on sale here. read more

Big lots in Oxnard is clean friendly. The Manager at this store is very professional. She is always willing to help you find something. The employees are very nice and courteous. When you come to the store they always say welcome to Big Lots. If you are disabled and associate will help you get your shopping done. I am used to venturing over to the Big Lots in Ventura, but was excited to see one closer to my new home. They do have a great selection of random food items (cereal) but they lacked in the cleaning supplies/organizing items. This location is definitely cleaner then the Ventura location but I think I prefer more selection then cleanliness when dealing with Big Lots. read more

Of all the Big Lots I've been to in Southern California, this one's my favorite. The store is usually well stocked/organized with plenty of parking in a nice area of town. Lot's of decent quality items at great prices. I regularly buy herbs/spices from this chain like paprika, cumin and turmeric. The bottles are 3.7 ounces and cost $1.00 each. Snack aisles are another good area to check out. The furniture they carry looks great and it's reasonably priced. Big Lots changes it's stock regularly and deals differ from week to week. Their periodic "20% Off Entire Store" sales are the most popular. read more

I love big lots!!! Been shopping there since the store Had even came out here to the west coast. When we got one here in Port Hueneme off Channel Islands I was super excited. I've been there shopping for almost over a year until this past weekend after the New Year there was a 20% off entire purchase promotion going on. I called To inquire about a price on a piece of Furniture and was rudely told that they give no information over the phone. I wasn't asking for anyone's account or personal information simply an inquiry about an item number. The person that was on the phone was rude and obnoxious! Wouldn't let me get one word in. It was a simple "nope" come into the store for any information. I then asked can I please speak to someone else? And just as rude as she was from the begging she said actually you can't I'm the manager . I told her great you're the front end of Customer service? She replies With "yup" and I said yeah this isn't going to get anywhere with this ghetto low class hood mouth manager. Look I know I might be hard but simple Common courtesy should be your number 1 job as a manager. Someone please Replace this piece of scum that does not deserve a management position. More Like a stocker in the back that needs to be away from people!! Luckily I called Ventura store and the manager Chris was able To help me with no problems what so ever!! Thank you, Chris. By far my favorite big lots. They have furniture, some groceries, hygiene stuff and pet things. Sign up for their rewards program, they send coupons to your email (great coupons). I purchased a beautiful dinning set here and it has lasted a long time. The employees are helpful. A cashier named Stephanie (I'm pretty sure) it's always so pleasant and sweet. The store can be messy at times but it's all good because the deals are great. They have good clearance items too. There is usually only 1 register open but when there's a life they call for backup. read more

We purchased a 2 piece sofa set at this location. We waited 2 weeks for the order. Once we picked up the sofa and drove it home, we noticed a tear on the side of the couch. We brought the sofa back for exchange, unfortunately the store did not have any in stock and we would have to wait for 3 more weeks. The manager, Chris, offered us a 200$ if we purchase a different sofa set. We declined the offer because we really like the original sofa we ordered. The next day, I asked the manager to call other store locations to see if they carried the sofa in stock. He told me the closest one he can call if in canola park... Or similar valley. This is a far drive for us. Because there was a defect on the sofa, we wasted our time and energy to bring the sofa back to the store. If we were to re-order, We asked for free delivery to home but the manager refused. I decided to call the Ventura location, and was able to speak with The person in the furniture department, Victor. He was extremely helpful. The store had 1 in stock, and honored me free delivery. read more

The biglots is small, but the prices are great. They carry mostly everything from household supplies to food and snack to furniture. The furniture is very reasonably priced and looks very nice. They even carry large rugs. Great place if you're looking to save some money. read more

I love this store. I have been coming here for years and I love the employees helpfulness and pleasant attitudes. Yesterday my husband and I came to buy a mattress. The gentleman assisting us was very polite and helpful...again no problems there. We need the mattress delivered and we were told it was a $70 delivery fee. OK no problem. My husband is disabled ...I have a bad back so this was a decent option right? WRONG!!. First the delivery company (its not big lots who delivers its a contracted outside source) informs me it will be $90...THEEEEEN they tell me they will only deliver to the front of my apartment building...not even to my front door...unless I'm willing to pay an extra $46 more. She proceeded to ask what kind of flooring I had...and informed me that certain types cost more to deliver! Evidentially laminate floors are too difficult for delivery men to navigate (scathing sarcasm) . by this point I'm just wanting our mattress so I opt for the dump at the front of our building. So I suggest if you buy furniture DO NOT opt for them to deliver...they will rob you . Was not a pleasant experience dealing with that aspect. read more

Hello, I have gone to this store for several years and have always been helped and asked if I am finding things as I load my basket with everything I think I have to have as well as things I need. But, today, was a really good example of how this employee, Cooper went out of his way to help me. I walked into the store and he was unloading something and he asked if I needed help. I said I was looking for the large bottled water they sell. I didn't see it but I told him I would go look around and probably would find it. He took off and I thought he was going to get more things to unload for the job he was doing. BUT, no, Cooper brought two bottled waters to me and asked if I needed one or two. I was so impressed! I said I need 4 but if you tell me where they are I will get them. He said they were in the warehouse and he brought me two more with a big smile. Very helpful. Guess this could apply to any Big Lots in the area that uses the delivery company that brought our new couch to our door step. That was as far as they got. The two men were under qualified to bring furniture into a house and they were more concerned with how much time they were losing trying to figure out how to get it inside than how to serve my wife and me better. My discount furniture is now going to run me an extra 240.00 to get our moving company to get it inside the house. I will never buy furniture from Big Lots again. read more

I just became a customer at Big Lots again after a long time but do to receiving the worst customer service ever at this location I doubt I'll ever go back. After purchasing a set of sheets that I realized I wouldn't be needing after all, due to my husband's military deployment and our subsequent move I received the the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I tried to return the un-used and un-opened pack of sheets as soon as I could. The lady at the register kept me waiting for 10 min. before she would even begin to process my return only to find out my receipt had expired just a few days prior. She said she couldn't process the return and when I asked if there's was anything else they could do like offer me store credit, she told me to hold on and called her manager on the phone, who didn't respond. We stood there for another 10 minutes as she asked other people where he was and tried to locate him on the on the phone a couple more times. Meanwhile, a long line began to form behind me. Finally the manager appeared only to pass us by without stopping to say he was busy and would be back soon. He never came back and after 5 min. she asked me to stand to the side so she could begin to ring up more guests. After about 7 min. passed she asked me if there was any shopping I could do while I waited. I told her I was just going to grab a can a roasted peppers. I went to grab them while keeping an eye on the register so I could finally speak to the manager about my situation. The manager never came out! When I returned to the cashier/ customer service rep. she told me they were'nt going to process the return and when I asked again about the store credit, she just replied "we can't do that either". I put the can of peppers down and after that long and tedious, terrible customer service experience, realized that this company doesn't care for their customers and was no longer worth my time or money. A $20 sheet set may be nothing to your company but to a single income family and during a very stressful time it means a lot! Their service ruined my day and the opportunity to aquire a very faithful customer! I'd rather pay a few extra bucks and get better service! read more
