It's nice to go to a place where everyone is so nice and polite. It used to be the norm. The young lady who answered the phone, who I assume was also working the register was so nice and welcoming. Howdy all. Been a long time, sorry, not eating out much. Anyway, this is setting on the backside of the building it's in. Plenty of parking and big sign. So, you can't miss it. It's right next to St Francis Animal Rescue Thrift Store First off, it's it's a small place with a pretty chill atmosphere. Our server Laura was awesome. Such a cool personality and just on the ball. We ordered up the Garlic Knots and Fried Eggplant Marinara for starters. Oh wow! Super fresh and perfect eggplant, just like my wife's NY Italian mother use to make. No joking! The Garlic Knots were the best we have had. The dough was perfect and they came with plenty of fresh ground garlic. I like the sauce they have, it's thick and much more flavor that a lot of places have. For lunch, we picked two pizzas, one a White sauce and the other the Sicilian square pan. My wife got the white sauce with onions, peppers and meatballs. Mine was sausage, bacon and roasted red peppers. All of the toppings were fresh and had nice flavors. My bacon was more like a Canadian bacon. Lots of flavor. I really like the crust on the Sicilian, it should come with some honey for desert. That's it for today. Go check Big Mike's out. Good stuff! Have been to Mike's on numerous occasions and always enjoyed the food. Tonight we ordered 2 pizzas. One was burnt and the other one was almost inedible. My daughter and her husband order two antipasto salads which were served without any meat and they had to add it after we commented. Our waitress also was just short of being rude. May 4, 2024 - Takeout for 3 for dinner. Recommended by a long time Venice resident and also seemed to be high praise on Nextdoor, Yelp and Google. (I am cross posting this review on Yelp and Google) Stopped in for the first time to pickup and take to our Osprey current home we are moving at the end of the month so testing some Venice spots for pizza and other pickup items. Maybe dine-in as well. We tried the 10" Gluten free Veggie Deluxe. Now in fairness this was take out and I drove from Venice back to Osprey with these pies. They were smokin' perfectly hot when I left but had cooled a bit by the time I got home and get the crew assembled and lates put out and sales served. We did stoke the oven up to warm a few, but that may have caused some drying or dough issues. (microwaving pizza is forbidden in our home :-) This was a pretty good pie!!!! crust was little wet and 'doughy" might have been a rice concoction. We wanted the cauliflower crust but it seems that is only in the bigger sizes?? Maybe our dine IN experience we will try that one out. Pretty good pie. 8/10 Another standard-by specialty pie is a buffalo wing pizza. Here we ran into some issues, the chicken seem to be dunked or fried or premade maybe, I dunno. Did not really taste fresh more like a large bacon bit? The crust/dough was pretty dry, and the crust not able to be gnawed on and enjoyed. My daughter, wife and I did not eat any of the crusts. Without the sauce or the topping it was just too dry? 5/10 The reference standard is the 18" plain cheese pizza. Like the buffalo pizza, this crust was also noticeably dry and not a supple soft pretzel like bread. A hard crust that would actually snap. Too dry and so was the base pie dough however it had sauce and cheese on it do it was more bendable and not s dry. The pie did not seem overcooked so maybe just the mix??? They were up to a 1 hour and 15 minute wait for phone orders and telling deliveries 1.5 hours??? So maybe the volume was just too much? 6/10 My hope is our dine in experience will FORCE me to upgrade my rating and as well we might catch the pizza dough in better shape/formulation ?? I am not convinced this is the pizza folks have been raving about? An off night, off the standards??? Phone service, up front cashier service and it appeared dining service is awesome!! (I talked to about 10 plus regular diners as I waited about 45 minutes for the order. My wife got delayed ordering as her brother was in the hospital. I headed right over.) Be your own judge, pretty good stuff......and don't let my first and single review ush you away, there is some great services and some very good food here..... I can't wait to confirm this!!! Had the pizza for the first time. Great flavors but it was terribly undercooked. Crust was limp and there were whole chunks of mozzarella that hadn't melted. This had to have been noticed by the person boxing it. We had to continue cooking it after we got home. Not quite what I had in mind with guests visiting. read more

The food was tasty. The amount of garlic on the garlic knots was substantial, you definitely don't need to worry about vampires with those around. The snafu we experienced was that we ordered 3 wing combos with fries and we didn't receive a single fry in our delivery order. Super sad. I've been here 3 times now. Had the pizza twice - it's really good. As a point of reference - all 3 times I've brought my 80 year old Italian mother - IYKYK. Each time I've said do you want to go to Big Mike's she happily says yes. Last night we took the daunting risk of her getting ziti and meatballs. I braced myself as she took her first bite. Lo and behold, not only did she like the meatballs, but she liked the sauce too!! I got the chicken parm dinner, and although I'm not AS judgmental, I very much enjoyed my meal as well. The place is super chill, the staff has been super friendly and the prices are not out of control by any means - in fact I think it's quite a deal in this day and age. If I could give 0 stars I would, I've eaten here before and enjoyed the food a good amount. Recently I had received a voucher for a free pizza and was really excited to use it. Today (7/27/25) I tried to call to place a pickup order using the voucher. I have been sent to voicemail by them for an hour straight now. I don't hit the dial limit it cancels the call as if someone answers then hangs up, this has happened 7 times now. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. I used to love big Mike's pizza. Wasn't New York saw pizza but was so really really good. The last three times I went there the pizza did not taste the same. The dough, It was very soft and mushy. I tried it again and it was exactly the same with the weird tasting dough. Maybe they changed the ingredients don't know. read more

Kudos to BMP for taking on a group of 16 for dinner on a Wednesday night! Separate checks, lots of different pizzas, and personalities. We arrived and two 8 tops were set out along the wall, roomy seating which accommodated us very well. Our waitress was prompt on getting everyone drink orders, and then taking the variety of orders of pizza, linguine and salad. We started with 12 garlic knots with marinara sauce and everyone enjoyed them quickly. We ended up with 12 more due to a computer snafu, and they too were eaten quickly. The only downside was it took quite some time for the pizzas (6 or 7) to arrive, maybe because there were so many all at once. On the plus side, everyone seemed to enjoy their slices. Avoided the rest room after one in our group came out with a strong negative review. read more

Went to Big Mike's yesterday for a nice family gathering. The mussels marinara were among the best I ever had. Everyone's entree was a sizable portion that came with an equally nice size house salad. We are "pizza snobs" from New Jersey and will order it on our return visit. This unassuming place has a lot to offer with good food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. read more

I'm from Brooklyn, NY, where the best pizzas are made. Someone told me about this place, so I went with my buddy, who is also from Brooklyn. We ordered the calamari, which is fried with bread crumbs; it was pretty good. We also ordered the Sicilian Pizza, also known at the restaurant menu as square pan pizza. The pizza was thin and didn't have enough air between the dough to make it crispy, and the Mozzarella cheese was really bad. We both had one slice and brought the rest home and through it in the garbage. P.S. The prices are pretty good, I don't know how the rest of the food tastes like some things on the menu might be good... But we won't be going back there read more
