There was little to no support or guidance from LVA to ensure a smooth transition to a traditional school environment. I was surprised to see a couple of highly positive reviews appear about a year after my son had left--reviews that appear to describe him directly. These accounts do not reflect our experience and seem inconsistent with the reality we observed. It raised concerns for me about how feedback and reviews might be represented or encouraged within the school community. It is more shocking given that the individuals concerned had nothing good to say about one another at the time. During our time at LVA, the quality of education and communication declined noticeably. What began with promise during the COVID period gradually shifted to disorganization, inconsistent teaching quality, and removal of key student resources, such as lunch and recess. I also encountered several situations where staff appeared underqualified or lacking appropriate classroom management, including questionable instructional choices that were not age-appropriate (R rated movies) More troubling were instances of unprofessional conduct and poor handling of disciplinary issues, which had lasting effects on my child's wellbeing. Several parents, myself included, raised these issues repeatedly before meaningful action was taken. To the school's credit, there were a few dedicated and talented teachers who genuinely cared about their students, and they deserve recognition. However, the broader environment was not consistently supportive or healthy, particularly in leadership and communication. In summary, while LVA may look appealing on the surface, our experience suggests that the substance does not always match the image. I encourage parents to seek out multiple perspectives and, most importantly, listen to their children's experiences before making a decision.

Miss Sipra, Miss Poonam, and Miss Vaishali were incredibly loving and kind during his preschool years. What stood out most was how personally invested they were in his growth -- they truly understood his individual needs and helped him develop with patience, encouragement, and warmth. Seems to be very male dominated and not a good environment for children. my daughters friends go here and they feel as if this private school is off putting and some teachers have no experience in teaching. play ground is really small, no room for kids to play and cafeteria even smaller. Great experience with smaller staff but head of school needs to change. very rude. they take all your money for no good outcome in your childs learning. cheap, rude and expensive they really get the parents with an experience they can't uphold. put your kids in a better school with better teachers, staff and curriculum and to the head of school 'wagner' do better.

First of all, this year, we had a temporary campus for a new campus that was still in construction. The quality was terrible. We could hear the construction from inside and when we were outside we were exposed to the dust that came from the construction it was a nightmare we also had to eat our lunch outside in the sun although they had picnic tables in PE was outside in the grass they gave many people many allergic reactions. And the grass had potholes. Many, many potholes. They have divided the MPR into five classrooms and it was really noisy. It was hard for any students there to focus at all. We were all desperately waiting for the new campus. Oh, and if you think that's bad enough, that was only this year. Last year, three teachers left the school midway two of them fired. And when they had to fire the first teacher they blamed it on the students at the school, even though they specified that they did not want the teacher fired, but they just wanted her to change her teaching habits in a way that would suit all of the students at the school. I mean, are the students not allowed to voice their concerns about the school and make it a better environment for the new students? And they're paying money to go to the school. Which brings me to my next point, the tuition. The year that the school opened, the tuition was twenty four thousand dollars. The tuition kept on increasing over the years, from twenty four thousand dollars to twenty five thousand dollars to twenty six thousand dollars and now twenty seven thousand dollars. The tuition has just been skyrocketing since the school opened. But there are upsides. And when I say upsides, I mean a lot of upsides. First of all, there are only 150 kids at the upper school. That gives teachers a lot more time to communicate with the students at the school and help them with any concepts that they do not understand. Teachers also have office hours after school to help students with any questions they may have. The teachers want the students to learn, and that's what makes this environment important. Everyone works together like one big happy family. The friendships that students make here are everlasting. If you make a friend one year, that friend will never leave your side and will always have your back. The students have such great memories of their past years, and they reminisce one their past experiences at the school. Overall, I would recommend the school for people who are committed to academics and don't care much about extracurricular activities. As BASIS grows there are more and more extracurricular activities that are emerging such as cross country basketball, volleyball, soccer, and flag football, as well as clubs that are offered by the school. Thanks for reading! Edit: After four amazing years, I have decided to transfer to another high school.

It's interesting to note how I just mentioned "our family" in reference to ACDS, because it's true - from the start it never felt like it was just my daughter being welcomed into a classroom. My husband and I were also ushered into a community of parents, children, teachers, administrators, and staff that truly are a community. This sense of familiarity and care, right from the start, was welcome. We looked at ACDS for my daughter after having been with a couple of other schools in the region that seemed to emphasize academics above all else. Academics are of course important, but I also wanted my daughter to have the chance to play and explore other possible interests. ACDS has a full complement of enrichment and extracurricular activities. Science, art, drama, music, you name it. There's a choir and a band. And every year every grade puts on a theater production, which I'm hoping next year can be done in the brand new Event Center. When school closed for COVID in March of last year, ACDS was ready for it. They moved their entire educational program online within a matter of 3 days, and it has been going strong ever since. When the school reopened for in-person learning in the fall, they continued the remote learning option alongside it. My daughter is presently the only child left online in her class, though she will be returning to school next week. Her teacher has been in close touch with me to make sure that she feels included and supported. The real gift is that my daughter has felt she is an active and important part of the community no matter where she physically is in relation to the school. And speaking of the teachers, wow! Dedicated and enthusiastic sound cliche but I assure they are not. The thought and energy they put into their lessons, especially even across two learning platforms, is phenomenal. If they had a high school, I would be planning to send my daughter. But for now I will just enjoy the stellar preparation she is getting for whatever step she chooses next.

When they moved campuses in 2015 that's when it all started going downhill. They had to renovate an office building to be the foundation for the upbringing of kids. We didn't have any real grass; we played kickball on a patch of turf. The hallways and cafeteria felt like that of a hospital's and the classrooms were white walls and brown carpet. When I started struggling with my mental health in middle school, there was no support system, I literally had to tell the Dean all of my problems. Everyone was the same and bland. Also the change in teachers was so frequent and confusing like you'd have a teacher for one year and then they'd leave the school and you'd be taught by another teacher who was just starting their first year. But my personal experience tells a different story--one where those values were ignored when I needed them most. I was recently removed from St. Bernard for an incident where I acted in self-defense. I didn't start a fight, I didn't go looking for trouble--but when someone put their hands on me, I protected myself. I didn't expect to be rewarded for it, but I definitely didn't expect to be punished either. The school's decision to expel me shows just how broken their system of discipline really is. Instead of investigating the situation fairly or listening to both sides, the administration rushed to judgment. They didn't care about context or truth--they cared about image. To them, it was easier to kick someone out than to admit that their staff might have failed to prevent or de-escalate the situation in the first place. What's worse is the message this sends to other students: if you stand up for yourself, even to protect your own safety, you're the problem. That's not justice. That's cowardice disguised as policy. St. Bernard claims to be a place that prepares young people for life. But life doesn't punish people for defending themselves--it demands it. If this school truly wants to teach real values, it needs to start by practicing them. Let me know if you want to add your personal details, tone it up/down, or include anything specific like what happened in the fight or how they treated you afterward.
